keiino monument

After five weeks and six shows, it’s almost time for the grand final of Melodi Grand Prix 2021. You’ve been voting for your favourites all week in our poll, and the results are in! According to our readers, KEiiNO are the overwhelming favourites to win the contest and become Norway’s next Eurovision act.

KEiiNO should win Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2021

We counted a total of 6,405 votes and the winner is beyond doubt. The trio of Tom, Alexandra and Fred took home a massive 2,455 votes or 38.33% of all votes cast. A victory with “Monument” would be the group’s second MGP triumph after 2019’s “Spirit In The Sky”. They are the only act to reach four digits in the poll.

Coming a very distant second is the wildcard act — Jorn with “Faith Bloody Faith”. The rock veteran picked up 946 votes or 14.77% of all votes cast. Perennial favourite Raylee comes third with 676 votes or 10.55% of all votes cast. The “Hero” songstress is the last act to receive above 500 votes.

The top five is completed by IMERIKA with 464 votes and TIX with 432 votes. Support for the latter will be based on “Ut av mørket”. However, TIX will sing the English-version “Fallen Angel” in the final. This was not available during the voting period, so we can’t judge whether the language change would have had a negative or positive effect on his tally.

Poll results: Who should win Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2021?

  1. KEiiNO “Monument” 38.33% (2,455 votes)
  2. Jorn “Faith Bloody Faith” 14.77% (946 votes)
  3. Raylee “Hero” 10.55% (676 votes)
  4. IMERIKA “I Can’t Escape” 7.24% (464 votes)
  5. TIX “Ut av mørket” (Out Of The Dark) 6.74% (432 votes)
  6. Emmy “Witch Woods” 6.7% (429 votes)
  7. Blåsemafian feat. Hazel “Let Loose” 4.86% (311 votes)
  8. Atle Pettersen “World on Fire” 3.78% (242 votes)
  9. Kaja Rode “Feel Again” 2.65% (170 votes)
  10. Rein Alexander “Eyes Wide Open” 1.83% (117 votes)
  11. KiiM “My Lonely Voice” 1.64% (105 votes)

I who am from Norway do not even understand how he could win. The reason is probably that he is extremely well known in Norway and has many fans here and it was all up to Norwegians to decide who was gonna win.

My top 12, as requested (prepare your dislike buttons): 😉 Monument – Truly emotional and powerful song. The structure is constantly evolving and adding another layers. Alexandra’s vocals are outstanding, while Tom and Fred each make their indispensable pieces for this to work perfectly. Witch Woods – I find it extremely creative, interesting and cute. It would definitely stand out on ESC – A Nordic CW-sounding song with a violin drop and lyrics that are both spicy and funny. Hero – One of the best stagings this whole season. She is extremely lovely, dominating the stage and feeling empowered, while… Read more »

No reason to dislike, with some exeptions this is my top (we share our bottom two and other songs are in similar places, but we don’t agree in some things)

If this plastic Norwegian Schlager Song is what people like most, Germany should really consider to send Helene Fischer next time.

I think yes but I am not sure. I personally will try. You have to make an account in NRK and then vote when the lines open. It worked in the Heats and in the Second Chance, we’ll see if it also works today.

Good to know. Is there a particular phrase the hosts will say when the voting starts?

I have no idea unfortunately I don’t speak Norwegian XD. But I guess if we see that the online voting is open through the site then we will be able to vote. During the Second Chance it was open for the whole show I don’t know what will happen tonight.

They return too early, you say? What about Sergey Lazarev in 2019 then? He returned 3 years later. Or what about Dima Bilan who came second in 2006 and first in 2008? As how I see it KEiiNO will be this year’s Sunstroke Project (I am comparing Epic Joik Guy with Epic Sax Guy) even though Sunstroke Project took 7 years to return.

I would love KeiiNO to win it.
Their song is really good for me, it heals my painfully crying soul.
I know it’s not the same as ”Spirit”, but it’s the best for me.
So far… there are not as good song to win ESC for me like this.
Greetings to all, Eurovision fans!
