Daði Freyr has announced the title of the song he and his group Gagnamagnið will perform at Eurovision 2021. Iceland‘s entry will be “10 Years”. The song’s release date has also been confirmed as 13 March.

He shared a post that also included a close-up photo looking at an embroidered pixel art likeness of his wife Árný Fjóla Ásmundsdóttir.
Daði confirmed to RUV that the song is about the couple’s relationship. He said, “The song is about Árný and I having been together for 10 years. How love grows stronger over time.”
He also confirmed that there’s a connection with 2020 song “Think About Things”. Daði explained “The cover art is a picture of the face on Árný’s sweater, as “Think About Things” was with my face. This song is actually a fairly direct continuation of “Think About Things”.”
Earlier in the year, Daði asked fans to submit vocals based around the lyric “Finds a new way to grow”. This also suggests a theme celebrating of a long-term relationship.
Daði also said he was looking forward to the song’s release. “Now I just can’t wait to see the reaction to the song. I have put everything into this and hope it pays off for people. I’m not kidding about this at all. “
Daði og Gagnamagnið’s “10 Years” will be released on 13 March
Fans won’t have long to wait before they hear “10 Years”. The track is due to be released on 13 March — in just over two weeks. The song will be debuted on Icelandic show Straumar (Streams).
Broadcaster RUV will also screen documentaries on February 27 and March 6. They’ll cover Daði og Gagnamagnið’s history — from their 2017 song “Is This Love?” to the unprecedented attention they received in the run-up to Eurovision 2020.
Daði og Gagnamagnið’s Eurovision journey
Daði og Gagnamagnið first competed in the Icelandic national final Söngvakeppnin in 2017. His song “Is This Love” made it to the superfinal but placed second.
Daði and collection of family and friends returned in 2020 with the catchy song “Think About Things”. It won the national final and was due to go to Eurovision 2020. While Eurovision was cancelled, the song went on to be a hit in the UK and even made the top 40 singles charts.
Daði og Gagnamagnið were internally selected by RUV to represent Iceland at Eurovision 2021. Their song “10 Years” has also been internally selected.
What do you think? Does “10 Years” sound like a promising song title? What do you think the song will sound like? Tell us your thoughts below!
Don’t fight the odds. This is already the winner. #1 in the odds must be right. Book your tickets to Reykjavic before prices go sky high.
You may be there on your own while everyone else is in Vilnius!
The odds say otherwise.
I gotta say, I’m liking this theme of him being a family man.
For me Iceland was so overrated by fans and bookmakers last year. With last year song I didn t saw Iceland in TOP 4 position. Better result would have Lithuania, Bulgaria, Russia and Switzerland.
I want to say well done to both Daði og Gagnamagnið and The Roop for giving us the ISL v LTU head-to-head we so missed last year.
I want this to be so good sooooo much.
They are #1 in the odds! This is a winner already.
I don’t know if it’s Iceland rising or more Lithuania dropping down a place because it was number one for a while (still a high place though–gotta think optimistically). Also, odds mean jack all when we’ve only got 11 songs out at this point. Heck, Dadi’s song isn’t even out yet so who knows where Iceland will actually land once the song is released.
Lithuania dropped because people like Iceland’s entry better. Before even listening to it. It’s the clear favorite at this point.
Covid-19 spared us the rigged 2020 winner that was already declared by the EBU and Netflix. Seems like they absolutely want this pajama no talent band to win. Atrocious.
Wouldn’t read to much into it! That probably is because they were tipped to win last year by everyone from God to Netflix. It is the hype from last year playing into it! Not saying they won’t be number 1 though..
Hmm I wonder if they were waiting to see what came out of Lithuania. Based on last year this will not be top of my entries to check out.
Depending on the quality of 10 years, it would be cool to see a face off between Iceland and Lithauania to see who will win Eurovision for the first time and which region will be completed first (Nordic vs Baltic).
It will be extra interesting as Baltic and Nordic do include each other in their votes. It is interesting to note that this group voted heavily for Norway in 2013, but the rest of Europe voted for Denmark. Including an hefty amount of points from the former Yugoslavia, who couldn’t vote for each other that year.
The title honestly doesn’t give me winner vibes, more like non-qualifier vibes, but I’ll judge when the song is out. I hope it will be good.
It’s a TITLE for God’s sake, it tells you NOTHING.
And if you think a winner can’t have a year in the title, Jamala would like to have a word with you
Arcade, Toy, 1944, Amar Pelos Dois, Heroes and other winning songs all gave me winner vibes based of the song title (whether I liked them after listening them or not). This year, the only song titles with potential winner vibes are Voila and Discoteque.
I know that it is only a title, but that doesn’t matter.
If you can get a winning vibe based on a song title alone, you have a better barometer of song success than 99.9% of fans and bookies.
The odds say this is a winner. It’s #1.
How the hell did the title “Toy” give you winner vibes lmao
What about “Boom Bang A Bang”, “Ding Ding A Dong”, “A Ba Ni Bi”, “Diggy Loo Diggy Ley”, “Rock Me Baby”?!
Countries should hurry up, they don’t know what they’re losing. Precious time. Come on.
I’m sure they are all well aware of the deadlines. It is just us being impatient. Usually we get to hear several new entries each week in Feb. This year we have to wait to March.
There is high anticipation for this song. 🙂
Ahhhh a love song! Can’t wait to hear it
Also off topic: arcade just entered the SPOTIFY TOP 50 WORLDWIDE!
And hit 200 millions streams! 😀
It just shot up 10 places to #51 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 here in only its second week on the chart!
This is so cute! I hope this does well – I suspect it will 🙂
The 10th of march would have been the perfect date TBH 😀
I am curious to hear the song. I hope it ‘s a good one.
Wonder if they be jamming in the same clothing haha
They modified it with some red inserts which make them look kinda like superheroes, they’ve been teasing us a lot on Instagram!
Can’t wait.. I really like his back catalog.. Think about things was IMHO the dead favorite also with the Roop and Victoria but I think this would’ve won it all.. Good luck Iceland
I’m sorry but I didn’tike Think about Things last year, hope this is better and less cringey
same never got the hype. it was average
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too fond of Think about Things either. I think it was more due to the fact it beat out my favorite song, oculus Videre, at the Icelandic National Final and I held a grudge against it, and its growth felt suspect to me. I would like to see Iceland win Eurovision one day because it’s the only Nordic that hasn’t won, but Think about Things wasn’t the song I wanted Iceland to win Eurovision with. 10 Years makes me wonder if Dadi is going for a more mellow tone, but we won’t know until it’s… Read more »
