Preparations for the fourth and final semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021 are well underway ahead of Saturday’s show in Stockholm. And now, we’ve been given our first glimpse of the stage performances that each of the seven acts will bring to the contest, following the release of short rehearsal clips.

Earlier today, Swedish broadcaster SVT released one-minute audio snippets of all the songs competing in semi-final four. But, any Melfest or Eurovision knows that the visual elements can be a deal breaker when it comes to a contestant’s chances of succeeding or flopping.

Throughout today, each of Tess Merkel, Lovad, Efraim Leo, The Mamas, Sannex, Clara Klingenström and Eric Saade have undertaken a full rehearsal on this year’s Melodifestivalen stage. Short 30-second segments of the rehearsal recordings have been released as the latest teaser of what fans can expect from each act on Saturday evening.

Melodifestivalen 2021: Semi-final 4 rehearsal clips

Click on the song titles to watch each of the rehearsal clips:

Full performances will be broadcast live on Saturday night from 20:00 CET on SVT1 and SVT Play.

Since this is the final semi-final, after which all songs in the competition will have been performed, recordings of all the performances will be uploaded to YouTube shortly after the show.

The performance videos of all the songs that have gone direkt till final in the first three semi-finals will also finally be uploaded to digital channels.

What do you think of these Melodifesitvalen 2021 semi-final 4 rehearsal clips? Which performance are you most excited to see in full? Let us know in the comments below!

Are y’all saying that Eric’s outfit is not stylish? It’s sooo good and the stage perfromance looks promising, so a this point I would say Eric or Dotter please.

The rehearsal clip for Eric has won me over. That dark staging is really cool and the I feel the song more now. Love it

Eric and Mamas will be 99,9% in the final. Feels like we’ll see again the battle between the mamas and dotter. And it’s really exciting because both seem to have the two best songs again.
Just not Tusse…. please…..

This seems as mild as the other semifinals, Eric was the only one I liked, but the lyrics are a bit .. sexual for my tastes.

his lyrics are sexual in the same way ariana grande’s 34+35 lyrics are. aka they sound like they were written by a 15 year old girl who just found out soft p*rn on tumblr.

I love queen of light Dotter and I MUCH prefer this song for Mamas than the mediocre Move, but people who dont know Tusse has already won Melfest dont know how it works. That entry is pure jury bait and unfortunalely Dotter and Eric wont appeal to juries as much. Mamas can be a threat for Tusse, but they have a disantantage, its possible that people will go for a new, fresher choice this year, even if Mamas never competed in Eurovision.

Still the clip you see is the end of the song, so you have only heard the very beginning and last 30 seconds of the song… the middle is what matters 😉

Really excited to see Eric’s full performance now…it *could* end up being my favourite song in the selection, we’ll have to wait and see. The Mamas are just so professional and so good. Even with an average song, they just know how to make it seem like such a big deal.
At the moment, I think Tess might have to settle for AC. She would’ve gone DTF in SF2 and SF3.

Shirley Clamp perform 3 years in a row from 2003 to 2005. And Mamas was 3 rd time in row but 2 time as singer and one time as backing singers.

The Mama’s song sounds flat and uninspiring in the studio cut but comes alive on stage. Eric Saade is quite disappointing on stage – very Bieberesque. He really has not grown as an artist…manboy indeed.

I don’t think Eric was ever as good a dancer as Danny or Anton – he gets the moves right, but it never feels as natural as with those two.

The Mamas look great! Bright outfits and lighting might work even better for them here than the styling of Move last year. If Europe needs some joy this year more than ever, The Mamas’ case to win is surely even stronger than last year.

Oh. Eric Saade’s performance is not what I was expecting or would hope for. The clothes, from the sailing jumper to the walking shoes, aren’t particularly flattering or stylish fits for him. The dance moves also look awkward and and make his body look tired or drunk. I know this will come across as harsh but even the lack of makeup, thinned out hair, and beads of sweat are noticeable–all of which could be avoided. He looks so lonely in that cold black/white grid too. He’s a handsome 30 year old but this staging makes him look like a 40-year-old… Read more »

Based on the snippets, I can say Eric and Mamas are going DF. Both of them are OK, but not sounding spectacular. I actually enjoyed song of Tess. This semi has strong songs indeed.

I’m intrigued by Eric’s staging as it’s not that obvious in the snippet but his songs is definitely catchy. He sounded a little shaky but hopefully he’ll be on point in the semifinal. Thanks for your thoughts Robyn

The mamas don’t need a great staging to shine, they’re great singers

The staging of Eric saade seems to be like a video, that’s great, but I don’t like at all the song

I like the preview from Tess & Lovad

The others for me are the NQ

Do you think The Mamas can win Melfest 2021 with this, or is the hype for Tusse too much to overcome?

Jake

I actually think they might cancel each other out a bit giving a bit of inside way for Dotter to come through. Both Mamas and Tusse are giving us inspirational anthemic pop with some gospel undertones. That’s 2 songs straddling same genres. Could be that they will be splitting votes whereas Dotter seems to have a clear way in the female dance pop genre. Charlotte’s song feels too dated/schlager to be considered a threat to Dotter’s song fanbase.

I could totally see this as a possibility. Never thought about it. I mean, let’s be honest, Sweden have an embarrassment of riches and many countries in ESC wish they could be in the predicament to pick between many good songs.

I guess dancing in a square void is the new projection mapping!
I been a little underwhelmed by the songs, but the camera work, mapping and staging have been killer with Melfest this year. Simply stunning given the limitations.

Josh

My personal hope is that The Mamas and Tess go DTF. Eric’s song is good, but it’s not a Melfest/ESC song. On first listen and at first glance, Move is the stronger of two songs from The Mamas. I don’t know if this song will 100% push them over the finish line and win Melfest again.

It looks like sometimes in Mello the singers are sounding too good to be true and it seems like the backing track is overshadowed the main vocal.. It might be OK if it’s happen only in melodifestivalen, but I am worry that this is what we gonna get in this year ESC.

I understand why many people don’t want a gospel-influenced sound from Sweden for the third time in a row, but I wouldn’t count The Mamas off yet. They really shine (well, with those golden outfits, in more than a way) when they hit the stage and bring those harmonies. Plus Eric’s staging look cool and Melfest loves some cool staging.

Colin

Based on the elements of running order, tempo, language, performer’s popularity and song quality all in one, here is my preliminary prediction:

DTF – The Mamas, Eric Saade
AC – Tess Merkel, Efraim Leo
5th – Clara
6th – Sannex
7th – Lovad

Now, that’s not my *wishes*, but rather *predictions*.
As there are (surprisingly) no finals this Saturday, I’ll be watching Melfest live.

I’d rather Sannex got the AC over Efraim and hope that the Swedish young people all just vote for Eric but I think Efraim will get enough to stay alive.

Ok for this semi of course I would chose the Mamas and Eric, the Mamas because I adore her and her song is good and their vocals are killers, Eric because of the performance the staging the charisma rather than for the song which is average. I do admit that I like Clara’s performance and song so AC would be cool for her, disappointed by Efraim Leo so I don’t know but yes ok Ac for him too. So now for the melfest final and then for Eurovision, Sweden you have four strong options: Dotter, dark pop current modern, it… Read more »
