melodifestivalen-2021-semi-final-4

The fourth semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2021 takes place this Saturday in Stockholm. Seven acts are set to take to the stage, all hoping to secure one of four spots in the next rounds of the contest.

Two will advance direkt till final. Two will have to fight another day in the duels at andra chansen. And three acts will advance no further and have to pack their bags.

You’ve read the media reviews, you’ve heard the audio snippets and you’ve watched the rehearsal clips. So now we want to know who you think should win semi-final four of Melfest 2021.

Is Tess Merkel’s song giving you (good) life? Is your love for Lovad’s audio clip exactly the same as your love for her rehearsal snippet? Do you think the best of Efraim Leo is deserving of a spot in the final? Are The Mamas firmly in the middle of your heart? Is your love for Sannex all inclusive? Do you want Clara Klingenström to qualify tomorrow? Or are you loving every minute of Eric Saade’s latest Melfest offering?

You can show your love for as many of Saturday night’s acts as you like in our poll below, but make it count because you can only vote once. We’ll close the poll and reveal the results in advance of Saturday night’s semi-final.

too much focus on mamas and eric saade here – i think clara has a realistic chance going direct to the final.
i like also the 4 latex girls from tess merkel – give me little bit MARUV feelings. 🙂

The quality is so much weaker this year too, the same can be said for Eurovision, huge downturn from last year.

This is the worst Melodifestivalen in a long time, and since 2018 onwards it’s gone downhill.

Imo the golden years of MF were from 2012 to 2016. Since 2017 it is going a little bit more downhill every year.

The Mamas are great. They’re a real contender for the win with Tusse and Dotter.
Sadly, I think Dotter won’t win once again… I’m rooting for Dotter because I don’t want her to fail again but I’d be really happy with Tusse or The Mamas winning.

I did like several of the Melfest songs, but there were just as much, if not more, I felt indifferent or underwhelmed about. Also, so far I see nothing catching up to my top favorites in Norway, let alone Finland. As expected, Sweden delivered in terms of production values and props for that. Songs I liked the best so far are probably from Dotter (a song I heard only once, but did kinda stuck and has more layered meaning than most others), Nathalie (who crashed out of the semi), Paul (who is now in AC) and a few fun ones… Read more »

Ha ha ha … Dotter is 34, but I think that her song can be taken as a metaphor of one generation to the next. And no matter how much we can fix now, we cannot revert our childhoods and unlearn some first mistakes, even if they are mostly due to parental or societal influences. But even if you don’t like the message, there is a message to even debate about, which is an added layer compared to most of Melfest songs this year. As for Nathalie (Fingerprints), I think you are the first person who didn’t like her vocals.… Read more »

Alesia is just too much. Analyzing everything to pieces..

Alesia is detailed, but fair, so I like listening to what she had to say. Of course, when analyzing music or films, there won’t be a critic I’ll always 100% agree with, but I appreciate when someone is both critical and nuanced. I like to form my own opinion, but sometimes a YouTuber, Wiwiblogger or a poster can verbalize something I felt, but couldn’t put my finger on. It’s really useful. I couldn’t find Alesia’s opinions on DTV 1 at all, tho. She has some videos on later shows.

Tomorrow at 9:30 you are able to watch everything. So you will have time to decide to the final in two weeks time :). Tusse will win.

Don’t be too sentimental. The Mamas were my favorites last year, but “In the middle” is not as good as “Move”, and it’s not the best in this semi. I’m rooting for Eric Saade. He may win the whole thing. Dotter has a better song but I see “Every minute” more Eurovision-ready.

I hope we wont be, Dotter and Eric are way better choices than Tusse and The Mamas imo but I can see us going with one of the latter

When I heard Sannex’s song my mind immediately went to Michael Bublé’s “It’s A Beautiful Day“? Weird, maybe it’s just me. Anyway here’s my predictions:
Final: The Mamas, Eric Saade
Andra Chansen: Tess Merkel, Efraim Leo
5th: Sannex
6th: Clara Klingenström
7th: Lovad

I guess the Mamas should win. But honestly none of them blow my skirt up.

I analyzed what the X factor is in order to win the jury vote at melodifestivalen and Eurovision. I went through every Eurovision since 2010 and looked at what characteristics the songs that did well had. I then put these into a computer program and found which trait was showing up the most frequently. The biggest correlation that I found to a high jury score is if the performance is clean. I think that we can all agree that this melodifestivalen’s cleanest performance is Every Minute. Eric is gonna sweep all of the twelve points. However, don’t forget to vote… Read more »
