Albanian singer-songwriter Ermal Meta returns to the Festival three years after winning with fellow singer Fabrizio Moro. With “Non mi avete fatto niente” they went on to finish fifth at Eurovision 2018 when a middling jury result was overturned by a third place ranking in the televote. Ermal previously competed in the 2016 competition, placing third with “Odio le favole”. However, his Sanremo journey began in 2010 when he entered the band La Fame di Camilla.
What do the “Un milione di cose da dirti” lyrics mean?
Introduced with a Damien Rice-esque piano, Ermal Meta’s “Un milione di cose da dirti” (A Million Things To Tell You) grows unstoppably as the minutes go by. It is a ballad full of feeling, an invitation not to be afraid, and also to reach out for help: “If I can’t get you up, I’ll stay with you on the ground”.

I’m nameless, you’re nameless And we’ll talk until we no longer need a name I’m unhurried, you’re unhurried We touch each other gently To understand each other a little moreWe are like two stars that have escaped the morning If you stay close to me no one will turn us off You’ll have my rattling heart For your lightning eyes I took you on my shoulders You become more beautiful with every breath I have a million things to say to you but I say nothing I’m your journey, you’re my station It’s my hand that you’re holding, don’t be afraid You’ll have my rattling heart With the hands in the mud You become more beautiful with every breath I have a million things to tell you but I say nothing And without telling anyone I have a million things to tell you but I say nothing I have a rattling heart |
