Sanremo 2021: Noemi “Glicine”
The lioness is ready for a musical renaissance after her last Sanremo entry “Non smettere mai di cercarmi”. Noemi comes to the 2021 festival with new management and a new look that has brought her back to the image of her beginnings. Noemi and her rich voice is always an appreciated presence. Noemi is somewhat of a Sanremo regular, having competed on five previous occasions since 2010. Her best result came in 2012 when she finished third with “Sono solo parole”.
What do the “Glicine” lyrics mean?
The scratchy and unmistakable voice of Noemi gives us “Glicine” (Wisteria), a ballad focused on the memory and melancholy of a past embrace. Dark and poetic, at the first listening, the sense of the title: “Inside I love you and outside I tremble like wisteria at night”.
It’s a song that tells of her rebirth. “Wisteria is very strong, it has very deep roots, but it also has this wonderfully fragile bloom, with which I identify fear,” Noemi explains. It’s not just a love story that’s ended. It’s something deeper. “At first listen, it may seem like a song about a love story that’s over, but then at the end I feel very close to the fragility of this feeling being told, the darkness and then the birth of that light and strength.”
