Open the windows and let Hurricane sweep you away. Serbia’s Eurovision 2021 trio have now released their song “Loco Loco” – and it is indeed crazy crazy!

After months of speculation and a few weeks of teasing, we finally know what Hurricane will be performing at the contest this year in Rotterdam. Sanja Vučić, Ivana Nikolić and Ksenija Knežević – the three queens that make up the group – bring a colourful music video with lots of glitter and disco balls.

Hurricane – “Loco Loco” (Serbia Eurovision 2021)

“Loco Loco” is a full-force banger. Hurricane take the energy and attitude from their Eurovision 2020 song “Hasta La Vista” and manage to build on it ten-fold.

The song is sung 99% in Serbian – the exceptions being the Spanish title lyrics and one English phrase from Sanja in the bridge.

The music video for “Loco Loco” features the girls of Hurricane bringing the dynamism that fans love them for. Sanja, Ivana and Ksenija each rock an 8os-inspired curly perm hairstyle that contrasts from the straight hair we usually see from them. They all serve face to the camera and bring the party atmosphere.

There’s also balls aplenty in the video, with bathtubs that are filled with disco balls and smaller multi-coloured ones.

“Loco Loco” is produced by Nemanja Antonić and Darko Dimitrov, with lyrics from Hurricane member and Eurovision veteran Sanja Vučić. Antonić was also one of the writers behind Hurricane’s Eurovision 2020 entry “Hasta la Vista” — which they were set to sing in Rotterdam before the contest’s cancellation. Now the trio will return to take the world by storm with another Spanish-titled track.

Hurricane’s path to Eurovision 2021

Girl group Hurricane originally earned the right to represent Serbia at Eurovision 2020 after winning national final Beovizija 2020 with the song “Hasta la vista”. But sadly, with the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, their dream was put on hold.

After a few months of waiting, it was eventually confirmed that Hurricane had been internally selected to represent Serbia at Eurovision 2021. They’re song “Loco Loco” was also internally selected.

The name of Hurricane’s Eurovision 2021 entry was initially revealed last week. A video on the group’s Instagram Stories showed them working in the studio. A brief frame showed the singers reading from a lyric sheet with the title “Loco Loco” written clearly across the top.

Two members of the group have already been to Eurovision. Sanja Vučić represented Serbia at Eurovision 2016 with her song “Goodbye (Shelter)”. The year before, Ksenija Knežević sang backing vocals for her father, the popular Montenegrin singer Knez.

Despite the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, the trio have not slowed down. At the end of November last year, they released three new songs and music videos all in one day – “Čaje Šukarije”, “Lopove” and “Want Ya”.

What’s your first take on Hurricane’s “Loco Loco”? How do you think the trio will do at Eurovision 2021? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

aramsamsam???

this will depend on their live performance. the studio version isn’t much to judge from. it lacks originality, but a powerful perfomance and staging could make up for this.

My expectations weren’t that high after Hasta la vista, and well… This pretty much is wat I expected. I will be fun to see this in Rotterdam, and that’s about it.

#1 Austria
#2 Serbia
#3 Bosnia and Herzegovina
#3 Croatia
#4 Montenegro
#5 North Macedonia
#8 Slovenia
#29 Germany

And more to come (next update in one week after the release)

They are going to have to seriously pull of some high energy staging for this song to work. I don’t mind the song it’s actually the music video that I think killed the energy, the performance needs to be more dynamic.

Never trust a ESC song with a Spanish title. Unless it’s from Spain.

I was expecting more reggaetón vibes in this song…but it’s just a title.

EUROVISION itself is trashy isn’t it? We had Finland in satanic masks playing heavy metal win one year, we had Austrian drag queen with beard, half man half woman ridiculing Christianity another year…..but that had high artistic value? Cause they were from western n northern Europe??? EU as always trashy, colonial racist, biased, hateful, and arrogant . BRAVO

Shame on you. As usual, certain group of Serbs are the biggest critics of our culture. This song represent exactly what’s popular in our country, wheter you like it or not. Songs like eg. “Kruna” are NOT popular songs and doesn’t represent Serbia in any way. Up tempo with some ethnic elements (sometime even with turbo folk elements) definitely represent popular Serbian music, and it was about a time for a POPULAR music taste in Serbia to find its way to ESC. This contest should showcase what’s popular music in each country, not “let’s create a song our nation doesn’t… Read more »

See the charts in less than a day since the release of that song (YouTube):

Serbia #4
Croatia #6
Montenegro #8
Bosnia and Herzegovina #12
North Macedonia #13
Slovenia #15

And it will probably top in these countries and we might see it trend in more countries

Personally, this is one of those songs you hear way too much at eurovision. I’m always honest and that sometimes results in a lot of downvotes, but I’m not “loco” about it. On the contrary, I’m more “aburrido” about it. But I know that a lot of eurovision fans are going to like this, and I do respect that. And in the end, that’s the most important!

Thank you for acknowledging your bias! Many people who leave their comments here do not do that, which creates a distorted image of general opinion of the song. I personally do not mind any music genre as long as it is catchy and well-produced. This song might seem like a punch into face for many Europeans who had never listened to this type of songs, but that’s the beauty about the Eurovision! We need to raise awareness that there is the world outside the western Europe and North America and that people of different cultures listen to different kind of… Read more »

Okay so unpopular opinion but I like this song. Yes it is noisy and yes you can get lost in it but I personally think this is a decent song. I don’t like it as much as hasta la vista but this is close. I can see why people don’t like it though. I like the vocals and the voice of the girls, the music is kind of addicting and we all know they can perform live. I have also noticed that last year everyone hated the amount of ballads we are getting. This year we are getting pop songs… Read more »

not bad, dancy, balkanish, brings something fresh to eurovision.. i only think it is kinda wordy too much and not so muchy able to singy, so with heavy dancy may be tricky.. i dont see at as a winner but it is cheerful, and certainly not toilet break song.. dare i say it, i think croatia is better, more sophisticated..

Hm this is hard.. I didn’t like Hasta La Vista last year and hoped they would bring something less ‘trashy’ (sorry, don’t know how to describe it otherwise) and more just fun and dancy, but I don’t think I like this either. As a side note though, I usually don’t go for the super pop/dance numbers in Eurovision (just not my style). They are definately better than their song, sadly. Maybe they can sell it in Rotterdam?

Energy-wise Moldova, Cyprus and Serbia are quite similar and they will share the votes with each other. I would rank them like this:

  1. Cyprus
  2. Moldova
  3. Serbia

Cyprus is just more recognizable and original, also video looks more expensive than video with the bubbles and bathtub…

This song is such a disappointment. There is no shape or form to it (e.g. verse, refrain, bridge etc.)…it’s all the same, 3 minutes of noise. 🙁

This song desperately needs a dark and very simple staging. Maybe some lasers during the verses and no dancing and simple graphics during the chorus in 1-2 colors. Something as simple as Rhythm Inside or She Got Me. No dancers, please! Anything else and it would be too much and the juries would slaughter it. The mv is horrendous and makes the song sound like it was made by my pupil with ADHD. They need to class it up. Sadly, I expect the complete opposite.

The diference is Moldova will have the Dream Team to design their stage concept (see DoReDo’s in 2018, they finished on 10th place in the final), so I expect something great for Natalia, too. On the other hand, I’m afraid Serbia is gonna bring a mess to the stage, so it’ll be a total disaster… I think Serbia is going to be an epic flop.

I do love they can go pop without resorting to going English…I do think this is more of an earworm than Moldova and Croatia…it’s trashy in a good way…staging is going to be key…we all know these songs used to be challenges sung live but with backing tracks, it could hide so many flaws

It has the energy and sass of “Hasta la Vista” but without any of the dated Pussycat Dolls vibes to it, so it’s a pretty solid bop.

It’s an ok song. But right now songs from Cyprus, Croatia and Serbia are all blending together in my head. They’re all trying to pull off some commercial pop thing, which is ok but also pretty forgettable.
