The Freaky Queen is back with a banger. On Sunday, Senhit unveiled her Eurovision 2021 entry. She’ll sing “Adrenalina” for San Marino at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam. The fiery summertime anthem features a verse from international rap sensation Flo Rida.

Senhit dropped her song following a leak in the early hours of Sunday morning. “Adrenalina” was originally scheduled for release on 10 March, but we’ve been treated early! The official music video is out now.

(Scroll down for “Adrenalina” lyrics)

Senhit — “Adrenalina” (feat. Flo Rida)

What do the “Adrenalina” lyrics mean?

“Adrenalina” is a high-energy summertime banger. Senhit brings together eclectic sounds including instruments from her Eritrean roots and beats straight out of Latin-pop to create an altogether bop-worthy track, that is destined to find its way into clubs all around Europe. Despite the Spanish title — which is repeated throughout — the song is fully in English. “Adrenalina” will hit streaming services on 12 March.

“I always want adventure, excitement, new experiences, to live at 360 degrees. ‘Adrenalina’ represents me best with its mix of international electro pop and refined sounds of instruments that come from Eritrea!”, Senhit says. “That’s why I’ve decided to take it also on the Eurovision stage. With Luca Tommassini we are preparing the greatest show!”

The music video also features an appearance from “Low” hitmaker Flo Rida. We first heard his “Adrenalina” verse in the snippet during the teaser video. However, it is not yet confirmed whether Mr Rida will hit the stage in Rotterdam. The San Marino delegation state: “Flo Rida has been a part of the production and is featured in the music video, but it’s yet to be decided if he will take part on stage in Rotterdam. The rap part will either way remain.”

Senhit and Flo Rida co-wrote “Adrenalina” alongside a team of international hitmakers. Jimmy “Joker” Thornfeldt, Joy Deb, Linnéa Deb, Chanel Tukia, Malou Ruotsalainen, Kenny Silverdique, Thomas Stengaard, and Melodifestivalen 2020 entrant Suzi P are all credited on the track. Stengaard and Thornfeldt are also part of the team behind the Cypriot Eurovision 2021 entry, Elena Tsagrinou’s “El Diablo”.

#FreakTripToRotterdam: Senhit’s path to Eurovision 2021

SMRTV internally selected Senhit to represent San Marino at Eurovision 2021 following the cancellation of the 2020 contest, where she was set to sing “Freaky!”. In the build up the Eurovision this year, the artist launched her #FreakyTripToRotterdam campaign, directed by creative visionary Luca Tommassini. The project saw Senhit cover a number of Eurovision classics. Most recently, the Freaky Queen mashed up two legendary Israeli bops — Netta’s “Toy” and Nadav Guedj’s “Golden Boy”.

Senhit previously represented San Marino at Eurovision 2011 in Düsseldorf. There, she sang her breezy pop-rock ballad “Stand By”. However, the song failed to progress through the semi-finals. Will 2021 be Senhit’s year?

“Adrenalina” lyrics — Senhit feat. Flo Rida (San Marino Eurovision 2021)

I’m burning up with affliction
Come give me your full attention
I want you to tame my fire now
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
Keep moving now your eyes on me
It’s like my body’s yours only
So baby don’t leave me lonely now
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh

We’re like fire and gasoline
Come and light it up with me
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina
Just one touch and I’ll ignite
I’m a flame on dynamite
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina

Adrenalina

Oh-oh-oh, this place so fancy
Let’s go and light up this city
You’re close enough but I need you closer
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh
You got me to this point don’t let go
No I’m not living not without you
Yo, you know, and you know I know-oh-oh
You know I know
Woah-oh-oh-oh-oh

We’re likе fire and gasoline
Come and light it up with mе
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina
Just one touch and I’ll ignite
I’m a flame on dynamite
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina

Adrenalina (Adrenalina)

[Flo Rida] Flo Rida, Senhit she got adrenalina

Step in the party ’cause she know to do my body like hot coals
Gasoline kerosene stop drop roll
I can’t blame it on the stove
911 when she coming down the pole
Yeah we like flames when we touch, can’t get enough
We get ignited, so excited, you can feel a rush
Like cloud fire more fire when we in the club
Put out my lighter, got the heat, she got me burnin’ up
So hot look at it steam up
We got the blaze so we inferno when we team up
Hotspot hot girl have you seen her
We up in smoke, fireworks, adrenalina

[Senhit] Adrenalina
We’re like fire, gasoline
Come and light it up with me
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina (Adrenaline)
Just one touch and I’ll ignite
I’m a flame on dynamite
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina

Adrenalina-na-na
Adrenalina (Adrenalina)
Just one touch and I’ll ignite
I’m a flame on dynamite
So high on adrenaline
You’re my adrenalina

LOL ok? Because thiss such a masterpiece you mean? The only thing that comment shows is proof that there is a strong Swedish hate on this site, with people taking gloat in the eventual caseof Sweden not doing well. How very spirit of ESC and uniting indeed! BTW, the same people you say have bad songs are the very same people who made this song. So even if it does better than Sweden we would still take pride since we made the song!

Hope Senhit will win, but I’m worried if Flo Rida will not be on the stage. If he sings in the official song, but he will not be on stage, could that make EBU to disqualify San Marino? I still think is very risky what Senhit is doing to us.

Looool no worries. If he’s on the song and is not onstage, someone else will sing his part. Have you noticed he’s not even credited in the song as a performing artist? They’re keeping things safe.

But I’m worried that Senhit is all about self promotion. With all her covers and Flo Rida that will not be in esc, I wonder if she really wants to go to esc, if she knows that San Marino usually gets low points. Could she be the ultimate shady lady?

Then read it again. It’s risky to sing in the video with somebody else that will be on stage. Is it a featuring? With who? She will have to answer, at this point is just EBU good will. I’m right and she already went too far with this illusion.

I agree with Bean, I don’t think Adrenalina would fit Eric but his choreography would be a…curoisity. Song and artist have to be a good fit – Eric wouldn’t win with Voila either. The reaction to San Marino 2021, and the comparisons to Sweden, also show us how important narrative can be to a song/country doing well and winning. It’s clear that San Marino has a strong narrative to do well this year, it’s garnered so much affection and support, especially after Serhat making it to the GF. I think narrative was a key element for past winners, such as… Read more »

@Bella That is nonsense. If “the system” sets up Sweden for a fail would you qualify every year? Would you have 6 wins? 2 of which within 3 years? The juries ranking you in the Top 10 every year, who I’d be more inclined to believe are more of a “system” than the average televoter/eurofans watching at home on a Saturday. You can’t be serious. You’re clearly trolling. Sweden can’t win every year, and with what they’ve been sending the last 3 or so years, they don’t deserve to either, but that’s the beauty of competition. I really appreciate Senhit’s commitment and determination in her Eurovision journey. She has worked hard over the last months giving us content and has surprised with a great “pure Eurovision” song, definitely the best entry from San Marino yet. I think she has a spot in the final in the bag. It sounds a bit dated for a winner, though, but Top 10 is possible! Well done.

the hype is because it’s San Marino. Everyone loves the underdog and they have literally almost no friends. That’s why it was so amazing the year they finally made it. Now they have a great song that might even be in top 10, so if this happens it can show everyone that there IS hope just send the right song (Andorra, Slovakia, Montenegro etc. will be watching carefully…). So yes if this song was from Denmark (just to take other example than Sweden) it would be top 10 material and no hype, but now it’s from the underdog we all… Read more »

Well I can somewhat agree, underdogs are seen more deserving of the top place, but let’s look into what Denmark usually has to offer in national selection overall, this would stand out amongst those acts, but still I find this song to be flat. No matter who sends it, but it’s San Marino so I think it’s more justified if it gets a good placing since it is a smaller country with less of a budget than others so for them it’s a good effort.

This is good. But y’all are overhyping it SO SO much that I hope you can understand that it just might not qualify. It’s almost delusion to suggest this could be top 10. I know you guys like it, but it truly is just not as good as you say it is. It’s serviceable, sure, but it’s a by-the-numbers bop/rap fusion song and it’s not really that special. It’s definitely way better than freaky last year. Said it has definitely taken the lemon that was the cancellation and made lemonade out of it. This is what I want to see with a lot of the returning contestants. A chance to take Advantage of the cancellation to make something even better. Some may achieve it, others may not, but Senhit is definitely one of the ones that really took it by the helm.

It’s good, but I wouldn’t start saying this is a winner. Has good elements that bring that ethnic vibe to this, but it kinda doesn’t grow as a song. I see this getting a lot of upport from viewers, but jury isn’t much of a fan of these songs usually.

Top 10 in final would be quite likely with a good staging, singing can’t really be the thing where people stumble down this year.

The only realistic thing to say about the Eurovision winner so far is that, if Eric Saade wins melodifestivalen, he will win Eurovision. There’s not been a song yet that comes close to matching his jury televote appeal. I don’t know if that’s just my opinion or not, but I personally feel like that’s a fair assessment. What do you think? Any song that you think could contend with Eric if he wins melodifestivalen?

If we stopped accepting new songs, then I think Senhit would have a very good chance of winning. It’s the best bop we have and, if it’s as much fun on stage as we believe it could be, it surely has the potential to at least win the televote. But, obviously we do have more songs incoming and they’re from countries with big expectations. Iceland, Switzerland, Russia, Bulgaria, Malta, and Sweden are all likely to be competitive for a Top 5 finish. And as much as we’re getting a raft of more upbeat songs, I still consider France to be… Read more »

At the very least, it’s astonishing to think San Marino were in the bottom as usual in the odds and are now amongst the Top 10 favourites—Senhit and her team have certainly done a great job at propelling themselves to the top this year and building their own momentum from 2020 to 2021.

I think this is a good song and could achieve a top15 (maybe a bit higher even) but it feels like everybody’s overestimating its potential a bit… This is still a quite generic ethno-pop Eurovision uptempo which, to me, sounds like it could have been produced in the late 2000s. Which is not bad but I would be very surprised if this song won in 2021. This song and « El Diablo » will probably score lower than the Eurofans would wish. But we’ll see, in any case San Marino can be very proud of their entry.

Definitely San Marino’s most competitive entry for many a year but, bold prediction, I do not think this is going to be San Marino’s best ever result. Serhat’s song was really over-placed for what it was. I think qualification should still the goal here and anything more is an absolute bonus.

I’m so happy for Senhit and San Marino! They really deserve to be in the spotlight after all these years 🙂 (without being the laughing stock) I still think this song would be just as good without Flo Rida, it just seems so unnecessary to bring a global rapper into Eurovision just to be noticed. Don’t forget: Serhat was top 10 in the televote… and this is way stronger than “Say Na Na Na”. Combine the serious votes from people that genuinely like this and the “troll votes” that are going to say “it would be funny if San Marino wins” and this could be the televote winner.

Grft

I don’t think this is way stronger than Say Na Na Na in terms of televote potential. Serhat got so many points because it was kind of a troll act. Senhit cannot rely on that because it’s a « good » song, so the troll voters will turn to someone else (Germany…). But Senhit will score higher for the jury than Serhat of course. All in all I think she can reach a better result than Serhat but won’t be higher than 8th or 9th in the final.

Alex

And let’s be honest, 8th or 9th would be an absolute bomb. San Marino in the Top 10 would be, by far, one of the biggest Eurovision news of the year.
I genuinely think “troll people” will vote for this. The idea of seeing San Marino in the top positions, by itself, is strong enough to motivate people to support them, even if they’re not the strongest entry. It would be a “once in a lifetime” opportunity, you never know.

Unfortunately this year will be half live and will save many poor singers. Look at Australia real live and I bet it will totally sound different next may and not because suddenly she totally improved her vocals. Wasn’t Greece 2019 excuse from being sick from the weak performances during the parties ?
Wouldn’t be surprised if we have the weakest vocalist winner of all time this year. Benjamin Ingrosso just came too early in Eurovision… And just imagine that the juries still loved it.

They should have at least only allowed pre-recording vocals from direct live sessions without any audio post-processing and at the best not allowed the main singer voice on the pre-recording. But I doubt it and this will expose the lame excuse of the pandemic if we hear some autotune back vocals.
Any professional sound engineering can immediately tell what processes have been used by hearing any soundtrack. So the EBU can’t come with the excuse they can’t control it.

I’m sure San Marino will achieve its best result ever. Who knows how high it will be in the end but maybe a very good result might be a pointer or rather an encouragement for Luxemburg, Andorra etc to participate again who , after all, reject to participate due to lack of success. I think this time San Marino deserve a grand win. But the only query I have is it really necessary to add Flo Rida? if He won’t make it to stage it will just damage the song since the promotions include him in the video. And if ever he make it then there’s another American artist like Madonna, Justin Timberlake, etc. who isn’t really aware and/or not really… Read more »

I’m going to have a lot of downvotes. But.. . This is one of those songs that I hear on the radio and which I forgot within five minutes. But I do understand why the majority of you liking this, and that’s totally okay. To end with a positive note. Of all the up tempo songs that have been chosen, this is probably the best so far.

Double mike-drop from Italy this weekend; first Maneskin now Senhit delivering a total banger. Did not see either of these coming. These two Italian-titled songs are certainly gonna shake things up in ESC2021! Love it.

I adore Senhit and her enthusiasm for the contest is so infectious! I think the song is great regardless wether flo rida features or not come the contest. This absolutely deserves to qualify! Well done San Marino.

I have to say, I’m surprised. I didn’t expect San Marino to put out a good entry, but this is exactly what I’ve wanted every returning artist to do–take advantage of the cancellation and come up with a even better song for 2021. Senhit has done it and I couldn’t be happier for her. This song is way better than Freaky, and it could get San Marino to the final and even their best placing surpassing Serhat. I could see it happening and I would be proud of them. That said, while I do think it’s one of San Marino’s… Read more »

I can’t help but think the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the song from Eurofans has to do with the fact that it is representing San Marino, which has one of the weakest Eurovision track records of any country and usually sends absolute garbage to the contest. I’m not sure people would react the same way if it was coming from another country (particularly a more successful country like Sweden or Russia)

Well, it’s the best song San Marino has ever sent since Crisalide (Vola) and certainly better than past entries. The buzz will level and we’ll see where it actually places. It’s actually just outside my top ten because I don’t like the Flo Rida inclusion, but I never ranked a San Marino song very highly before, so it’s a nice change of pace.

Well if it came from Sweden it would be disappointing but gosh it’s a A+ for San Marino, I really hope they get a TOP 15 or luckily 10!!!

San Marino doesn’t exactly have the best track record, does it? They have only qualified twice.

I don’t think so. If a song in Melodifestivalen is featuring Flo Rida, everyone would get nuts about it. And it is not a bad song tbh

Exactly. If Melodifestivalen had Flo Rida in a song, we would talk about Sweden doing it again, about them being the Eurovision kings, top 5 guaranteed and much more. Is this the best Eurovision entry? Hell no, but the idea of seeing San Marino dropping one of the biggest bombs of the year is enough to generate all these reactions, and honestly? They deserve it.

One question comes into my mind: How can she afford all this? I don’t think that SMRTV paid for all her expenses. top Swedish producers, Flo Rida, parachute jump for a teaser, all her Youtube covers, expensive music videos etc.

Does she have a rich husband? Or is she rich herself? How???

Everyone is wondering the same. Seems like she has a wealthy sponsor, but nobody knows who.

For me… out of every country presenting the “generic dance pop song + female singer” formula, San Marino is the one I have actually enjoyed the most? I was afraid all of those songs would actually cancel each other (and it was getting really boring too, to be honest) but this one brings something different — and it’s not the unnecessary rap — Senhit is a great performer, she has the Eurovision experience, she is there to have fun and… I appreciate that a lot! I am so happy for her 🙂
