Saturday 13 March Eurovision Schedule

The curtain is almost ready to fall on the 2021 national final season. But before everything wraps up for another year, fans have two shows to choose from.

Here are all the details you need for 2021’s ninth Saturday of national selections. We’ll be checking in with Sweden’s final and Iceland’s song reveal. You can follow all the results on wiwibloggs (and via our Twitter: @wiwibloggs and Instagram: wiwibloggs) throughout the evening. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening, when it’s on and how to watch.

Saturday 13 March: Eurovision 2021 Selection Shows

Sweden’s Melodifestivalen 2021

Grand Final

Time: 20:00 CET to 22:00 CET

Sweden’s Mello ends its six week run with tonight’s grand final. As per usual, there are 12 finalists battling to impress both televoters at home and eight international jury finals. The favourites include Tusse and Eric Saade, while Clara Klingenström is being labelled as a dark horse. Last year’s top two, The Mamas and Dotter, shouldn’t be dismissed either. For the first time, SVT will also be providing a stream with English commentary.

Iceland’s Straumar

Song reveal

Time: 20:45 CET to 22:05 CET

Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin was put on hold for 2021, as the country reselected Daði og Gagnamagnið following the cancellation of Eurovision 2020. Their entry for 2021 is called “10 Years” and will be debuted on the Icelandic show Straumar (Streams).

I like it when the televote identifies the clear favourite and results in the winner that the country wants to represent them. It shows that Sweden has chosen the song of the majority of Swedish people. It is the Swedish entry after all so it makes sense it is a song that they enjoy and support. It seems that the Dotterdam fan club is bigger outside of Sweden.

Sweden it’s time for you again to flop in televotes on Eurovision)

Tusse would win even if the juries had put him 4th place, so Sweden really wants him. I see why they love him, I just believe he deserved a better song.

Wellp the Swedish televote massively voted for Clara with 56 points but she basically got screwed over by 4 people from Israel, the UK, Cyprus and the Netherlands..

Dotter 48 Televoting points? 50% of Tusse‘s points? 4th Place? Sweden, that‘s disgusting

The Mamas 1 point ahead of Dotter, AGAIN.

Hahahaha! You guys never expected that Tusse would get that supported did you? If he wins the televotes to then we have the right winner, winning both. Dotter is really good, but the Dotterdam excitement and bashing Tusse is really within the eurovision fandom. We’ll see what happens in eurovision..

I just hope that Swedes know that if Tusse wins they’ll repeat a 2018 situation – qualifying mainly thanks to the juries (but honestly, juries would vote for Baila Baila too if it represented Sweden) and then receiving a relatively low televote in the finals. They’ll likely still finish in top ten, but only thanks to the juries. No seventh win for Sweden. Dotter perhaps wouldn’t win either, but her televote would’ve been much better and she’d probably finish in top five.

As expected, the juries didn’t care for Clara’s entry. I still hope she gets a respectable number of points from the viewers.

So Sweden won’t win this year.

This is why international jury votes should be decreased to 25%. Who’d give Dotter 3 and Arvingarna 10?

Wait voting lines are still open?? How is that fair for acts that didn’t do well with the jury vote? Nobody is going to vote for them now and svt knows that.

What a lame sytem. If you want jury votes to determine the winner then just don’t do a televote system at all lmao

Juries: Tusse 79, Eric 69, Dotter 57.

Disappointed, but not surprise.

To put it in context, last year: Dotter and The Mamas had 65, Sandman 53.

This is something I never liked. If you want an international jury, avoid other HoDs, just invite artists with no connection to the broadcasters. But it was such a trend for years, Christer himself was everywhere during national finals’ season.

Those jury points are terrible. I thought they would actually appreciate Clara for a second 🙁

Now the televote is the only chance for Dotter or Eric. Voices is so… predictable. But we equally predicted it’s win, so at least it’s not a shock.

Of course, they consider themselves as main favourites so they want to get rid of Sweden.

Purple Mask is right – This is a good finals overall and differences between several acts are not necessarily huge. I think that my top 5 would be Dotter, Danny Saucedo, The Mamas, Paul Rey and Klara Hammarstrom. However, most songs have some upsides. I love Eric, his instrumental and his staging, but I am still on the edge with the lyrics. Tusse’s song is pleasant, but really feels a bit calculated. Clara was very good and I wouldn’t mind her being a dark horse. Good luck, everyone!

I have my “creative differences” with Christer Björkman, but I’m glad that he’s having a proper send off and clearly having a lot of fun with it.

I love the Mamas, Eric’s staging is very cool, Tusse is a promising performer, but I’m still Team Dotter. I wouldn’t mind Clara pulling a huge surprise though.

Tusse’s song is not a Melodifestivalen winner song, just an X-Factor etc. winner song in my opinion.

OK, I like this, but it might be a little too dated a sound for Eurovision. Won’t complain if it wins, but I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t either.

I don’t think Sweden has a song that can win Eurovision this year. But Eric Saade has the best chance of a Top 10 finish.
