OGAE Poll 2021: Latvia awards 12 points to Lithuania

The annual fan favourite poll continues. The second round of results from the OGAE Poll 2021 are in. Next up to dish out their points are OGAE Latvia, who award their douze points to Lithuania’s The Roop. The “Discoteque” singers jump to third place overall in the early days of the poll.

The 11 voters of the Latvian fan club also shared some love with Malta, awarding ten points to the bookies’ favourite. This is the second set of ten points for Destiny, after OGAE Netherlands also gave her their silver medal. Meanwhile, eight points go to Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears. This ties “Tout l’univers” with “Je Me Casse” for the current first-place position overall.

5. Cyprus — 11 points

6. Sweden — 10 points

Countries that are not listed are yet to receive any points from voting clubs.

Between now and Sunday 2 May, half of the groups voting in the OGAE Poll 2021 will reveal their points one by one. Then, the remaining groups will announce their points at the same time on Friday 7 May in a grand final video spectacle.

What do you think? Do you agree with OGAE Latvia’s voting? Who are you awarding your douze points to? Sound off in the comments below.

OGAE with less than 100 voters (and it’s still low for me) should be packed with the “rest of the world ” vote. 11 peoples is ridiculous !! Choose 11 others and you can have a different poll. I know OGAE is “for fun” and a fan thing, but if we want the most accurate result for fandom (because it’s only that, the taste of the fandom) OGAE need a reform. And don’t say me we can’t find 100 eurofans in Latviaable to send their votes online ?

Also, let’s not forget how Sanna Nielsen and especially that opera-pop singer from Corsica eventually fared. OGAE votings are some nice entertainment to gap the remaining weeks, but they shouldn’t be overrated.

Rock or rap songs, for example, never stuck too well with the Wiwibloggs bubble.

Firstly, 41 countries still have to give their votes. So current results say not so much.
Secondly, why do someone take OGAE Poll seriously? The only precise information it gives is that the winner of OGAE Poll will not win the Eurovision

Well, 5 out of 13 times, OGAE winner was also Eurovision winner. And only in 5 occasions Eurovision winner was out of the top 3 of OGAE, years which the winner was really uncertain and shocking (2011,2014,2016,2017) apart from the 2008 when none from OGAE’s top 3 was that appreciated at the end.

But actually, OGAE polls are the polls from the ”fanatics” so this doesn’t mean that the fanatic’s favourites are ESC’s faves

More likely it’s that many Latvians are exposed to Estonian/Lithuanian music on a regular basis, are familiar with the particular artists or have ancestral ties to the country.

I think it’s a bit optimistic to say they’re easily top10. Being diverse in this contest surely helps but I’ve seen so many people say Hungary in 2018 would do amazingly and it ended up 21st. Not only juries but televoters have also sadly let down rock entries in the past!

If 11 people of the “fandom” have it 7 points , we can make no comments on what any other people will give . That’s the core message. If a country called BLM was participating in a best social messages contest everyone would probably vote for it. This happens to be a song contest , no one is going to vote for the best song performed by an Artist belonging to only one race . They will vote for the best song even if it was a green person performing it. That said the Jury will definitely give it points… Read more »

You know that the Latvian population is 60 percent. Latvians and 40 percent. Russians, most of whom support the Putin regime and are hostile to Lithuania. It is therefore not worth talking here about supporting neighbors. We rarely get points from Estonia. If anyone votes for each other, it is the Slavs, Greece and Cyprus. Lithuania has little support.

Hasn’t that Greece-Cyprus thing gotten old yet? It feels like the fandom is obsessed with something that literally has almost zero effect in the scoreboard, between two countries that have the same national anthem, after all.
Whole Scandi block is doing it every year, no one says a single word.
As for Latvia and Lithuania, I would say the points to Estonia were the point that this became a bit funny.

The point I’m making is , both of you have valid opinions and it’s ok to disagree and say “I don’t agree with you” without having to go attack mode.

It’s a valid point of view, but does my facts or opinions deserve the fact to be insulted of aggressive french nationalistic, and to be treated like he did, nope it’s unfairly too much since I was certainly not insulting him and nobody. He pointed his facts, I pointed mine it was ok until….. And of course only french people can love Voilà because as soon as somebody show support to it, it’s forcefully a french nationalistic…..for him, weird state of mind, weird over reaction, so after that it’s funny to accuse me of intolerance for example. And I’m still… Read more »

The eurofans the last year : please France give us a real french song with french flavour, totally in french and not bought at Sweden.

The same eurofans this year: meh AGAIN (!?) a french pretentious drama song, it’s too french. Wtf!?
I call that #opportunism coming from #vicious and #NeverSatisfied eurofans.

We are talking about 11 latvians eurofans, so I don’t see why you are so afraid, it’s not very representative. Conchita, Salvador, Jamala, Duncan haven’t won the ogae poll too. Don’t forget that some eurofans (and some juries in the real contest) are completely against the big 5 too. And in the case of Barbara if during the preview they show the videoclip which is not for everybody because she doesn’t sing in it and because it’s very special as it’s the first part of a film, instead of showing the live performance, so it could take points to Barbara.… Read more »

Well Someone in top 6 of OGAE will win. TA few will flop. We don’t know who yet. So I think there are reasons for following this.

Top 6? Why especially in the top 6? And who knows who will be the Ogae top 10 this year for example? Better to not make predictions moreover when 41 countries have not already voted.

there are a few years that the winning Song was lower, however usually in top ten. the last years the prediction have become better. In the top there is usually One or tio Song that will flop. I think it Will be Switzerland this year.

You would even be happy I’m sure….
France is always placed high in the bookies….2012 no, 2013 no, 2014 no, 2015 no, 2017 no, 2018 no, 2019 no, 2020 no.
And then nobody votes for France….2016 top 10 in televoting, 2017 top 10 in televoting too….

Every year the same happens with Greece, they think they will win but at the end they are not qualified or they finished on the rightside of the scoreboard. So I won’t be surprised if it happens again this year….
After all why things would change, it’s like that, it will be always like that, no?

12 to Lithuania is a bit funny but I don’t mind it at all 😛
I hope people realise before hating on these OGAE polls that they are just another fan poll of people voting based on their taste and nothing else!

Yay! Go Gjon!
And I don’t mean to be rude but why is Sweden getting so many points? I think the song is quite average especially compared to the songs Sweden usually sends.

That’s what I am exactly saying. I like Tusse and the song is not the worst either, but let’s all be honest: Does it really deserve to qualify? Personally, it wouldn’t bother me if we didn’t see it in the final. What I don’t understand and what I criticize is that some countries are always overrated, no matter what they send. Just imagine if Voices or Fallen Angel were sent by Montenegro.. do you think that the same songs would again be so high in the odds? I am pretty sure that if this was the case, the odds wouldn’t… Read more »

Actually it is the opposite on this site. Whatever Sweden sends you dislike it. For example Malta, San Marino, Bulgaria and Cyprus are Swedish production and more liked here than if Sweden would have sent them. One reason for Swedish success is that in Melodifestivalen the songs and performances are tested several times in the competition. The same goes for Italy.
