Our series of poll battles concludes with returning artist #26. Following the cancellation of Eurovision last year, many have been allowed to return to the contest in 2021. However, this year they’ve all come back with new songs.
Thus, comparisons to their previous entries are inevitable. Over the last few weeks we’ve been asking you to tell us if you prefer the returning artists’ 2020 or 2021 songs?
Last but not least, today we’re shining a light on Switzerland. In 2020, Gjon’s Tears was set to take “Repondez-moi” to Rotterdam. This year, he’ll be singing “Tout l’Univers” at Eurovision 2021. But which song is your favourite? Vote in our poll now!

“Répondez-moi” (Switzerland 2020)
In 2020, Switzerland internally selected Gjon’s Tears and his song “Répondez-moi”. This was set to be the country’s first Eurovision entry to be sung in French since 2010. A haunting ballad, the song discussed some of the big questions that come to mind when reflecting about life.
The Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — awarded “Répondez-moi” a score of 7.95/10. In her review of the song, wiwiblogger Esma commented:
“Douze points pour la Suisse! Switzerland has chosen a piece of subtle and stunning art by selecting Gjon for Eurovision. “Répondez-moi” is a mystical and deep song that has been under my skin since the day it was released. The song is an impeccable combination of string instruments, choirs and Gjon’s flawless vocals which take my breath away every time I listen to this masterpiece. Gjon’s talent is able to touch people in their souls by means of his music – something only a great artist is capable of.”
“Tout l’Univers” (Switzerland 2021)
Gjon’s Tears was chosen to return for Eurovision 2021 with the new song “Tout l’Univers”. It’s another French-language ballad, though the Swiss singer told our William that the song was originally written in English.
In the lyrics of “Tout l’Univers”, Gjon’s Tears tells listeners to move forward with love in their hearts despite the struggles they might face in life.

I knew it! I could not decide, and I guessed that no one else could. As of my post, it is neck-and-neck! They are both so damned spectacular!
At the moment, “Tout L’Univers” is my #1, after my first of 3 evaluations. “Répondez-Moi” was my #1 last year. Coincidental, though it may be, the song was quite appropriate, given the tragic situation we were about to face throughout all of last year.
I like Tout l’Universe more, but both are in my top 5 for that year. Now let’s see how many people bothered to come just to say “neither” out of spite.

2020 was my near-to-#1-second and 2021 is my winner. I loooove both songs with all my heart but i picked 2021.. Switzerland for the win ?
Polegend Godgarina and Mr Vanilla Bean probably dislike both. They are the type of people who dislike every popular song, but after Eurovision they are like: “I’ve always liked this song, it is so good. Best winner ever.”
In my opinion he is the only one returning artist who brought the same good song as in previous year! 2ND maybe Go-A
Both are my winners! Repondez-moi a bit better I believe, but both gave me winner vibes.
Oooh this may as well be the hardest poll battle of the year. Both Tout L’ Univers and Répondez-Moi are my 3rd overall but I think his 2020 entry was more original and risky, so my vote goes to 2020!

The 2020 song might have won the contest! This year’s song is good but not good enough. It does not have the immediate appeal that Respondez moi had. Last year’s entry was a masterpiece, original, emotional, nice vocals. This year’s entry is a copy paste with a more sad undertone which I do not like.
You must have listened to a different song.
Both are absolute masterpieces. Tout l’univers is catchier and has a lot more options for performance

I prefer the lyrical content of his 2020 effort but I prefer the musical content of his 2021 effort. I also think his 2021 effort is more competitive so I’m glad he’s competing with Tout l’Univers!! I love both songs though and I love him <3333

Tout l’Univers is more immediate.
I like both of them a lot but Repondèz-moi is the best of the two by a mile imo. It was my winner last year while Tout l’univers is my fourth this year.

I love both. “Repondez-moi” was in my top 4 last year. “Tout l’univers” is my number 1 this year.

Both good, good for him. Thanks god they didnt go with the english version this year, that sounded terrible to me. But in french, Tout l’uinvers is the beautiful sister of the beautiful Repondez moi.
