All aboard the hype train to Rotterdam! The annual Eurovision OGAE Poll 2021 continues today, with more results coming in from OGAE Portugal. They award their douze points to France’s Barbara Pravi, who remains in second place overall.

In second place with the club of 45 Portugeuse voters is Lithuania’s The Roop. “Discoteque” picks up ten points. Meanwhile, current poll leader Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears receives eight points. His overall lead decreases slightly, but he’s quickly approaching the 100 point mark.

Bulgaria’s VICTORIA also received her first points of the season. “Growing Up Is Getting Old” receives two points from OGAE Portugal.

Portugal, having a boring song, giving 12 points to another boring song, similar to their own. Totally unexpected!!! Not…

Because the song is liked more than 29 songs by sufficient number of members of a randomly selected group of fans

Out of all of the countries they can give votes to, they decide to give 6 point to Azerbaijan?

Wow, the Portuguese may not be THAT successful in Eurovision but they certainly have taste (I would make some minor changes, like adding Greece and Belgium but in general it was a pleasant surprise, especially for Bulgaria!)

… And finally Bulgaria gets some love. 🙂

I don’t expect it to finish high in OGAE voting, but at least it’s not a nul-pointer.

I hope that Czech Republic and Germany get some points too.

France is so overrated imo. I think this is the entry aboard the hype train that will miss out on the top 3 or 5. It’s just a typical fan song that won’t do well outside the bubble. Also.. Malta is not doing as well as expected. I thought Destiny would have gotten more 12 pointers by now. Still good of course. Switzerland came as no surprise. But the song is nja… I also had/have a feeling that Sweden’s support would be somewhat geografical.

France will 100% be in the top 3, whether it will win or lose does not matter. In 2017, people said that Portugal wouldn’t make the top 3 or top 5 and you know what happened to Portugal that year.

I am surprised slightly at Azerbaijan doing so well with OGAE. I’m getting strong NQ vibes from them this year.
Considering “Mata Hari” is basically a rehashed “Cleopatra”, I would have assumed OGAE being a Eurovision fan club, would have been aware of that. Of course the voters at home may not be aware, OGAE definitely should be.

I’d say the same thing about Cyprus. El Diablo is a copy of Bad Romance. Nevertheless everyone seems to like it.

I’d say more Dua Lipa – Hotter Than Hell then bad romance but I think Cyprus is slightly (very slightly) more original than Azerbaijan this year.

We all know Azerbaijan saw staging before they saw song.

Yes, fast version of bad romance the high notes in chorus…but 2019 Cyprus was even more copy of Cyprus 2018. They rely on previous entities that got highest position for them otherwise it be how many years for them to keep on trying to get that position with different format testings lol

I agree with everything you said apart from the surprised part.
I mean, “Mata Hari” is everything you’d expect an actual OGAE member to go for. Cyprus, Azerbaijan and San Marino are all up there as you’d expect. 😉

I think its end will be like ”Miracle” from 2016. I love the song but i don’t see a bright future for it.. Like you i’m getting NQ vibes too and if it quailifies , they can get maximum 12th place in the final… lowest 16-17

yes but we judge the songs of the current year not the ones from last year. If artists want to keep the same style because they felt comfortable with the former one, then why not keep it that way ? Plus most of the people who will watch the event, will watch for the first time since 2019.

For the time being I can say that Iceland, Finland, Bulgaria, Greece and Belgium are soo underrated, while Cyprus and Lithuania quite overrated. But I guess this is OGAE poll who judges only the videoclips at the end

Now that Victoria got some points, it’s time for Hooverphonic, but I guess they’ll be more like Aminata or Douwe Bob: 0 points from OGAE, top 15 in the final

Yeah, it’s definitely been a blind spot. Victoria has been so underrated she might even be somewhat of a dark horse ahead of the live shows.

Nice top 3 🙂
The whole top 10 is nice, I would have more a less same songs in different order but I would need to add Croatia to top 10 to make it perfect. Not sure who to cut though 😛
