Greece's Stefania is your favourite Eurovision 2021 returning artist

Some artists just can’t stay away from Eurovision. And this time, the number of returning artists is higher than ever. Following the cancellation of last year’s contest, many acts from the class of 2020 are coming back for another shot at Eurovision glory.

We asked you to vote for which Eurovision 2021 entry from a returning artist was your favourite. And now, the results are in!

Stefania’s “Last Dance” is your favourite Eurovision 2021 entry by a returning artist

We counted a massive total of 18,409 votes in our poll. And we can reveal that Greece’s Stefania is your winner. The Dutch-born singer made her Eurovision debut at the junior contest in 2016, performing alongside The Netherlands’ Kisses. In 2020, Greek broadcaster ERT internally selected Stefania to sing the Dream Team-composed “SUPERG!RL” at Eurovision. And following the 2020 contest’s cancellation, she’s back to rock the Rotterdam stage with “Last Dance”. In our poll, Stefania earned 2,300 votes — that’s 12.49% of the total vote.

In second place is Switzerland’s Gjon’s Tears. The “Tout l’univers” singer picked up 1,645 votes — 8.94% of all votes cast. A very close third is Eurovision 2021 bookies’ favourite, Malta’s Destiny. Just 7 votes behind Switzerland, “Je Me Casse” received 1,638 votes8.9% of all votes.

In fourth place is San Marino’s Senhit with 1,332 votes, and in fifth place is Lithuania’s The Roop with 1,168 votes.

I really believe she will surprise everyone in May. And no, I am not talking about the overhyped staging. I am talking about her, I think she will own the stage and kill it!

I did not get your point.
Is there a personal estimation about the staging or an actual reference to what the Dream Team is planning to deliver on stage?

I believe the point is that a guaranteed success with Dream Team was only a thing in the 00s, not anymore. Let’s please stop overhyping these people, it is all extremely tired as a concept. If Stephania manages something good, that I believe she has a potential, it won’t be because of any silly lights or whatever, but purely because of her talent and fresh character.

It would be good for your not to have so high expectations, 2017 proved that.

Love it when a fan group gathers to push an artist, as if a win on Wiwibloggs affects the results in Eurovision. The rest of the top voted countries seem to correlate well with other polls. Anyway cute song by Greece and I wish she does well 🙂

Well, some friends of mine are Greek and they would totally agree with you saying Demy did not deserve to qualify, it was a shock for the Greeks to stay in the semi for the first time in their history the year before though (2016 with Argo, who also didn’t deserve to qualify), so it would be a DOUBLE shock to develop a 2-year non qualifying record (like Romania 2018-2019)

I actually loved the staging. Two gay swans were so cute and romantic. Demy also looked like a nice person but yes the song was very average yet not so cheesy. I think it definitely deserved the final considering cringe acts like Moldova and Romania came top ten.

In Demy’s defense, This is love was such a poorly written song lol. That transition to the chorus would be super hard for anyone to pull it off ( the This is LOVEEE note, with that instrumentation – try sing it yourself and you will get what I mean ). Demy’s voice is an ordinary, decent enough voice, shes not a disastrous singer though. Kontopoulos is more to blame

By the way, Greece has significantly improved from last year, while for the majority of the returning artists it’s a downgrade from the last year (apart from San Marino too)

Superg!rl doesn’t have the passion of Last Dance. I agree, it’s more ethnic and stuff but way less competitive imo…

Supergirl was a really good song, but actually the only thing that actually made it look like an entry of Eurovision and not JESC was the ethnic stuff. Last Dance is a contemporary song which is catchy and dancable. I can imagine people singing together with her in the chorus

Some people say they like the 80s sound, others say they feel nostalgic. Not sure yet what is the effect on me, but I like it! There is something about this song that boosts my mood! LOVE it!
I am a bit anxious about the staging though, since she is one of the few artists that we have not seen or heard so far live.
I keep my fingers crossed that she will manage to deliver on stage!
And if she does…oh boy! Athens 2022 will be full of rocking romances!

And she actually already showed her vocal skills three times if I’m correct:

  1. When she sang Voy A Quedarme some days ago I think
  2. When she also sang a part of her song on ERT
  3. When she represented the Netherlands as part of Kisses in JESC (her voice has changed a lot since then though)

???…Greece neither win esc again nor reach top 5..simply cuz iz not interested.
If Greece begin to interested again it will take another 5 years to have a change to win.

At this moment the status is semi flopped…but I’m hearing …Athens 22…
Lol…
