Blind Channel Dark Side Eurovision 2021

The Nordic nations – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Norway – have often been considered to be somewhat of a powerhouse group when it comes to Eurovision. In 2021, these five countries are set to serve a variety of songs. There’s violent pop, nu-disco, Italo-disco, and more.

We asked you to vote for your favourite from the five Nordic entries selected for Eurovision 2021. And after counting 4,856 votes, we have a winner…

“Dark Side” by Blind Channel is your favourite Nordic entry of Eurovision 2021

Taking home the gold medal in this poll are Blind Channel from Finland. “Dark Side” picked up 1,813 votes. That’s equivalent to 37.34% of the total vote. Their anarchic anthem also proved popular with the Wiwi Jury. Here’s what Jonathan wrote in his 10/10 review:

As someone who started their journey in the Eurovision fandom as a lover of the power ballad, I can’t claim to have always been a regular listener of the grittier side of music. However, Blind Channel’s violent pop has hit a sweet spot that has increasingly developed over recent years. This perhaps suggests it has crossover appeal to those less accustomed to such sounds. “Dark Side” is loud, powerful and dynamic from the word go, but it also has enough changes of pace to give it elements of light and shade. You don’t win your national final with 370 more points than the runner-up for no reason. Finland could well be on the cusp of achieving their best result for over a decade.

Securing second place in the poll is Iceland’s Daði og Gagnamagnið. They’re only other act to receive more than 1,000 votes. “10 Years” earned 1,088 votes. This is equal to a 22.41% share of the vote.

The other act to finish on the podium is Tusse. The Swedish singer earned the bronze medal with “Voices”. Y’all awarded him 909 votes, which is 18.72% of the total.

In fourth place is Norway’s TIX. “Fallen Angel” picked up 661 votes (13.61%). Finally, Denmark’s Fyr & Flamme finish off this quintet. The duo earned 385 votes (7.92%) for “Øve os på hinanden”.

Don’t think it’s underrated! Surprisingly highly rated concidering it isn’t favourite genre in ESC and isn’t for me either.

why don’t people like iceland’s entry? i find it entertaining and (sorry) better than think about things. the gimmick or style that it’s going for doesn’t feel as forced and it’s more about the music here

There’s going be at least one nordic country that will get into top 10 in the final, maybe even two! Good entries anyway, I enjoy all of them.

I am really enjoying the Nordics this year. Three entries in my top 10. I also enjoyed all the national finals as well (obviously excluding Iceland). I am well and truly becoming a Nordics-stan!
