In case you needed yet another reminder of Destiny’s vocal talent, Malta’s Eurovision 2021 star has released a performance of the classic hit “All By Myself”. The song was originally released by American artist Eric Carmen in 1975 and later covered by Eurovision 1988 winner Céline Dion.
Destiny’s rendition of the song was filmed at the Manoel Theatre and sees the “Je Me Casse” singer on the theatre’s stage. This is interspersed with images of key workers from the Covid-19 pandemic, to whom the performance is dedicated to. In a post on Instagram, Destiny elaborated further:
“This rendition of ‘All by myself’ goes out to all frontliners who kept us safe and alive throughout this nerve wrecking period and to all my fellow friends, the artists who were kept back from doing what they know best, performing.”
“This one is for all of you. Please also allow me to dedicate this song to my grandpa.. whom I miss so so much. There is light at the end of the tunnel and we will soon be together, on stage, performing in front of thousands of people. Till that day comes, let’s stay safe.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time that Destiny has wowed us with a special video in recent months.
She recently unveiled the symphonic version of her Eurovision song in front of the stunning Fort St. Elmo in Valletta.
“This was one of the greatest experiences in my Eurovision Song Contest journey so far,” she said at the time. “The fact that I got to work closely with the iconic Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is in itself a great achievement but creating such a rendition and giving me and everyone a different side to ‘Je Me Casse’ gives me goosebumps. I hope people will enjoy this version as much as I enjoyed working on it.”
We’re already looking forward to what she does next!
What do you think of Destiny’s rendition of “All By Myself”? What over songs would you like to see her cover? Let us know in the comments below!
This is just outrageous for the Eurovision Youtube channel to promote a singer competing this year singing covers of other songs.
Guess I can wait forever for Uku singing some cover too.
Allot of hate for what ? Shes doing what she loves .shes not sinning fo eurovision .shes had been singing all her life she lives for singing. wish you all the best destiny.
Too many notes!
Why do so many young women adopt this Mariah Carey style of singing?
It’s a NO from me.
In my opinion those Exhibitions of power and powers of exhibition add negative signs to Destiny. Are almost annoying. Ok she has a great voice, is talented, is fav to win esc and everybody knows that…but this could end to a boomerang situation for her…and it’s a pity.
She is so talented, Good luck Malta 🙂
First of all, I’m tired of hate speech from both sides. Yeah, saying something mean about 18 years old girl is nonsense, but don’t turn every criticism of Destiny into hate speech. When somebody says “I don’t like it/it’s overhyped/ it deserves to flop for [arguments] reasons” it’s not hatred, it’s judging a contestant. Everybody has that right. Also, in my opinion, she’s a great performer, but song itself is clichèd boredom. It’s not catchy and not rememberable, it’s pretty annoying. Lyrics are thrash, seriously. She’s a great vocalist still. I wonder will her delivery save the track on ESC?
Another publicity or what ? i’m tired of all this overhype.
There’s a 45 minute documentary on TIX’s life on YouTube, which I’m pretty sure has nothing to do with the contest but I found it very interesting nonetheless … there’s also a 30-min video of Iceland’s performer singing a bunch of songs. Come on, this is all in the last 4 days.. not that difficult to search for in the ESC channel. .. and some people think this 3-minute video is giving an unfair advantage to Malta. Instead of praising Destiny for her impeccable talent, I have to come on here and state the obvious. People wishing Destiny’s staging to… Read more »
Well said Carl. These haters are jealous
There is no haters just people that don’t buy propaganda and use their own ears to judge a song.
Don’t be afraid with that Gjon and Barbara get some hate too here and on youtube, then don’t take this personally for Destiny because whatever the countries and singers who are tipped as potential winners they are hated blindly only for this fact, it’s usual, each years the same thing, so take this rather as a compliment because it means Destiny will do well.
I wish her the best.
The high note gave me Pastora Soler (Baku 2012) vibes.
Incredible as always !
She’s got an amazing voice. However, I do not see the point of posting this performance on the official ESC YouTube channel as it has nothing to do with the competition???
There are tons of other irrelevant things uploaded in the channel this year, due to corona.
Have you also commented about TIX’s 45-minute documentary which is also posted on the official ESC YT channel? Guess not.
That voice!!! She sounds like an angel.
I wish she had chosen to sing a ballad like this one in the constest. If only…
Agree, Je me casse doesn’t suit her
First of all I don’t agree with the people wishing her to flop. I get that we’re oversaturated with articles about her and that this video had no business being published on the official ESC YouTube channel but that’s not necessarily her fault. Her team could be pushy all they want but it’s the sites and blogs that accept their money and publish the stories. And speaking about her team – they are not doing a good job. Destiny’s singing style and music taste has been influenced by the divas (especially Jennifer Hudson) since childhood but it’s their job to… Read more »
I totally agree re her styling. Sadly that is in the hands of her team which seems to have forgotten that she is 18 years old, still a teenager. Her make up should be simple and not this overdone style.
One day people will say about Destiny: “I had no idea she started out at Eurovision”.
Simon Cowell has already said that.
That voice is everything
This performance was amazing….
Even if you are a hater you have to admit that she nailed this performance.
First of all, this shouldn’t be on the official YouTube channel since this has nothing to do with Eurovision. She should’ve post it on her own channel.
Second, using the pandemic to gain some votes… how desperate can you be?
Third, she copied Roxen with the wannabe emotional messages and the empty theater.
I used to like her song when it came out, nothing special, a little bit cliche, but an ok song, but man… their strategy of over promoting her and her song made me hate it. I really hope she will flop!
You can’t wish somebody to flop for no reasons, it’s not cool.
Well, the commentator higher didn’t wish her to flop with no reasons. He gave 3. He even starts sentences with “first of all…/second…/third”.
First of all every country/singer has the right to promote themselves in any way they see fit. We have had features/articles about other countries/singers which had nothing to do with the ESC and no one is hindering anybody from promoting themselves. I wish all the other participants would take up Destiny’s example and showcase themselves, that way we would know their vocal capabilities and their versatility in singing in different styles/genres. I personally would love that. If you don’t like it no one is forcing you to watch and listen. Move on there is no need to be petulant about… Read more »
She deserves to flop.
Nobody deserves to flop, like your favorite or your favorites, they don’t deserve it neither.
How old are you? Three?
love her and her song but she’s rlly overhyped the past days in the point i want her staging to flop
Get a life she wil win the contest
Destiny, you’re still young. Those days should not be gone.
She definitely is the best singer.people. i don’t understand such hate.
She is a great singer, but certainly not the best.
Let’s see how much hate speech will occur in this comment section…
