San Marino’s Eurovision 2021 representative Senhit served proper fashion, energy and her very own “Adrenalina” at her first rehearsal on Monday. Although she nailed her first run-throughs, a certain superstar collaborator Flo Rida was not present.

In an interview with our William live from Rotterdam, Senhit dropped some mystery for y’all. The Eritrean-Italian Sammarinese queen did not outright disregard the idea of Flo Rida joining her in Rotterdam. “It’s a surprise” – she says – “you will see, you will have to be patient.”

Interview: San Marino’s Senhit at Eurovision 2021

Senhit’s first rehearsal on the Ahoy arena stage included lots of dancing, fashion extravaganza and energy, but most importantly, lots of fun, which came across in our interview:

“I enjoyed a lot. I will try to do better next time, but I enjoyed a lot. I’m having lots of fun, with my dancers, the rapper… until the end of the show.”

There are many eye-catching elements involved in her performance. But if there’s one that grabbed many viewer’s attention, it’s definitely the absence of superstar rapper Flo Rida, whose place was taken by a friend of Senhit during her first rehearsals. She did not want to confirm, nor deny, that he will join her on the big stage for the actual competition. But based on what Senhit tells William, we have the feeling he just might:

“We will see. Probably Flo Rida will arrive, probably not. It’s a surprise, you will see, you have to be patient and we will see what happens.”

If Flo Rida’s absence did not go unnoticed, neither did the appearance of Senhit’s extravagant headpiece that she wears during the opening of her performance. Senhit explains in our interview that the garment goes along with the theme of the song and truly reflects her Freaky Queen personality:

“We found this amazing crown that represents mother and son, or queen and prince. I start my performance with this crown and my dancer, as a servant, takes out my crown and I take my mic as like a sceptre.”

Being on the big stage is a blessing after a year of Eurovision dryness, but also a challenge. Senhit not only brings fashion, vocals, sassiness and energy, but also dancing and slaying the runaway. That’s a full-on combination! Although moving around the big stage might be tiring, nothing will stop Senhit from getting things right:

“I did a lot of rehearsals when I was in Rome, but in a normal studio, and to be here in this huge stage, I have to move from one place to another, to run and be careful with my breathing. But I will be fine, it’s not difficult.”

Of course, this year’s entry is very much the opposite to what we saw ten years ago when the star participated at Eurovision 2011. Senhit has reflected on that time and, as she explains in our interview, her passion for being on the stage remains:

“Senhit, ten years ago was a different lady. I’m still like that, I like to be on stage. But at that time I decided to show my ballad. This time we decided to go uptempo and bring ‘Adrenalina’.”

“I will try to bring San Marino to the grand final”

Y’all, a Queen has ambition. And Senhit does not lack. As she tells William, her goal is to win but first, she will bring the microstate to the big event on Saturday 22 May:

“My goal is to win. But I have to be honest, I’m super grateful for all this expectation, but I have to be focused and we will see what happens in the semi-final. I will do my best to bring San Marino to the final. But I will fight very hard.”

Expect more transformations in the weeks coming

The Sammarinese team has just stepped onto the stage. However, the mystery is not over. If Flo Rida making it to Eurovision has got you hyped already, Senhit tells William in the interview that more transformations might also occur in the upcoming weeks:

“I have a lot of wigs – pink, purple, orange and many more. But you will see in this period too, many transformations too.”

What do you think about the possibility of Flo Rida making it to Eurovision? Are you excited? Which element of Senhit’s performance did you like the most? Let us know in the comment section below!

What if it is, in the end, a holographic Flo Rida?

I think they would have had to rehearse that. The intrigue here is that they’re rehearsing with a Flo Rida stand-in, and that they’re not rehearsing with a clear replacement who will perform Flo Rida’s section of the song.

I think it’s more likely now that he will be in Rotterdam next week.

If he can be booked as a celebrity judge for a bikini competition in Miami for a week, he’d be a fool to not take up the opportunity to perform at Eurovision to an audience of 300 million.

Yes I agree. It makes no sense for him to skip it.

I love her attitude. I wish her all the luck. She has a good song that can become a world wide hit. 1st place for me

This is ridiculous. Eurovsion stagings require MONTHS of planning. You can’t just not know if the featured artist is coming when there’s only a little over a week until the second semi. This is not like a surprise element in the staging they don’t want to show the audience yet but it’s literally the other singer!

Didn’t Salvador skip all the rehearsals and let his sister takes over? He ended up winning the whole thing.

Yes but they didn’t say maybe he’s going to come to perform the song maybe he isn’t. To the other acts if one of the singers could potentially be absent it would be devastating. Not something they would tease people with.

He might have signed up to do the other contest before knowing he was part of San Marino’s entry

With or without, the masks of the dancers are still distracting and could decrease the chances of doing well to be honest.
