Half a year ago, France won Junior Eurovision for the first time ever. Valentina took victory in the 2020 contest with ”J’imagine”. And now, just two days before the final of Eurovision 2021, the European Broadcasting Union and France Télévisions have confirmed the host city of Junior Eurovision 2021. On va à Paris!
Paris will host Junior Eurovision 2021
Paris is known for its rich cultural offer. Out of the great variety of venues, the organisation has decided that La Seine Musicale will be the home of Junior Eurovision 2021. The venue, which resembles a ship, was built in 2017 and is located on Île de France. La Seine Musicale is equipped with many facilities and its modernity makes it a perfect location for Junior Eurovision.
We also have a date. Junior Eurovision 2021 will be held on Sunday 19 December. The theme of this year’s contest is ”Imagine”, a reference to Valentina’s winning song in 2020.
France’s Head of Delegation Alexandra Redde-Amiel is very proud of Valentina’s victory— and ready to create an amazing show in Paris. She says:
“29 November 2020 will always be engraved in our memories thanks to Valentina’s magnificent victory at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest,” she said in the official press release. “This incredible adventure isn’t over! It truly is an achievement and an honour for the entire France Télévisions entertainment team to organize one of the biggest shows in the world in France. We can’t wait to welcome the EBU teams, all the participants, and the European delegations and offer them a special show.”
She continues: “Next December, for the first time in 43 years, France will host an Eurovision event!! A wonderful project! The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is an incredible new challenge for us to produce an authentic show, and especially for me as Executive Producer! The Junior Eurovision Song Contest represents the cultural diversity of our young audience in Europe and that means a lot to me. We will be fully involved to offer a great, unique and ambitious show in Paris”.
The French team did not hesitate about organizing this year’s contest. Delphine Ernotte Cunci, president of France Télévisions and EBU President-elect said: “I am very happy that France Télévisions is organizing the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in France in 2021. Valentina represented our country brilliantly by winning the 2020 edition. Consequently, it was obvious to host the next event in France.”
Martin Österdahl the Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor adds: “We are delighted to announce that Paris will be the Host City of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021. It’s exciting to be returning to the French capital with a Eurovision event for the first time in over 40 years. The team at France Télévisions have the passion, dedication and energy to create a fantastic show in December where talented young artists can shine and “imagine” they will win the Junior Eurovision trophy.”
Junior Eurovision 2021 slogan will be “Imagine”
The slogan for Junior Eurovision 2021 will be “Imagine”. Organisers feel that its “a simple and effective slogan, chosen for several reasons. First of all, for the echoes of Valentina’s song that won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Warsaw last year. A nod to Valentina and her beautiful and energetic song. But “imagine” is more than that. It is also the ground of creation, of the incitement to dream. It is the playground of the mind to build a better world, a new world. The power to imagine is infinite, especially for children. And it is something we need more than ever today”. They say “So let’s imagine together!”

Where can I watch the press conference?
I only wonder why December and not November as usual
More time for the dreaded ‘VID to die down I suspect
Paris might have two eurovision events the next twelve months come Saturday… fingers crossed.
I can barely believe that it’s happening. As a French I thought fir a long time that we would never have the opportunity to host a eurovision event, and yet it’s happening! That’s crazy 🙂 (also Île-de-France is the region, not the island ^^ thie island is called l’île Seguin and is situated in the city of Boulogne-Billancourt 😉 omg that’s so close to home i cant belieeve iiittt!!!!!!
After Saturday they might be hosting the next adult ESC too.
Has that even happened before?
Let me think…
Ok, I thought for a moment and, no, it will hopefully be another record created in 2021!
Yeah, can’t wait to see all beautiful people here. Welcome to France 🙂
OmG tHaT sLoGaN wAs So UnExPeCtEd WoW :O
As much as your intelligence.
wow great place to host it (albeit smaller than i was expecting). very beautiful! however, does it mean that if France wins this year, we’re not flying to Paris next year for ESC?
it is still possible. there are still Bercy Arena and Paris la Defense Arena. but since Bercy Arena is too busy and has been fully booked until November 2022, then Paris La Defense Arena is the main choice now (because the six-week timeslot needed for the contest in April and May 2022 is still available).
JESC has never appealed to me, precocious, precious kids and their obnoxious stage mums, I’d say it’s a right bitch fest. Kids should be left enjoy their childhood, they will be adults long enough.
it seems that you have risen to take the cynical, bitter space left by vanilla bean. difference is, you aren’t funny.
Believe me I’m not trying to be funny, I’m deadly serious, I just like to cut through all the sickly sweet crap people spout on this site. I’m here to balance things out, just think of me as the voice of reason.
JESC is for connecting children hater
School, chores, homework, getting slapped on the face and their butts = A childhood enjoyed.
Yeah you’re right, putting them under pressure and making young girls dress and behave like child hookers is a much better plan! Great for their self esteem and development.
I did a small chuckle when I saw the slogan. I bet that meeting lasted 5 seconds.
December, not November…
Je s’adore!
