She co-wrote Cyprus’ Eurovision 2021 entry “El Diablo” and sang backing vocals in Rotterdam for Elena Tsagrinou. And it would seem that the devil had yet another big opportunity up his pointer for Laurell Barker, as she’s now making a splash in the Season 6 trailer for Lucifer.

Yep. The final season of the Netflix hit series lands on September 9 and Tom Ellis & Co. are teasing it with the sultry sounds of Laurell herself.

The one-minute trailer show Tom — aka Lucifer Morningstar — and his castmates getting into fights, dancing at the club, looking at sonograms, walking into church, enjoying same-sex kisses, cheerleading and spreading their wings as Laurell delivers non-stop soul.

“Working my fingers down to do the bone,” she sings, “I’ve been building my kingdom up on my own, got a destiny baby and it’s set in stone, look at me now, look at me now…”

And while the Canadian-born singer-songwriter may be channeling the feelings of the fictional Lucifer (who, in the series, abandoned Hell for Los Angeles to run a nightclub), Laurell might as well be singing about herself as her own kingdom shines brighter and bigger.

Besides being the first female songwriter to ever have three songs in the grand final of Eurovision in the same year (UK, Germany and Switzerland 2019), she’s well and truly making a name for herself beyond Eurovision.

She’s co-written mega-hits for K-pop groups Twice and Oh My Girl. And more recently her song “Habit” has become a radio hit in Germany, cracking the Top 10 of the German iTunes charts. At the time of writing it’s got more than 2.8 million spins on Spotify. It’s also entered the top 200 of Shazam’s global chart. Apparently the people want to know what’s playing!

Last weekend Laurell shared the official music video for “Habit”, which sees her working her blonde locks in Biarritz, France. Laurell and her backing dancers slay the skatepark and the coast as she unleashes a three-minute vibe.

Besides being a killer songwriter and performer, Laurell is also here for the fans. She’s among a handful of performers to have sung at the Wiwi Jam on multiple occasions, alongside icons like Tamta and Måns Zelmerlöw.

Are you loving how Laurell is all over the place right now? Do you watch Lucifer? Does our girl deserve a cameo in the series? Let us know down below!

Laurell Barker had privileges in the swiss selection by the past (she was in a relationship with a very trendy producer who worked as an executive director in the Entscheindungshow and organized songwriting camps) but now that their love story is over I highly doubt she would enter the swiss selection anymore. Maybe she would try in another country.

” killer songwriter” – Well, her lyrics were not that killer, I guess. Even my 6 year old nephew could write She got me.

the fact that she is Canadian makes me wonder if she can lend herself to Switzerland for Eurovision just like Celine Dion in 1988. it is more reasonable for Switzerland than it is for San Marino, because of the French connection (both Canada and Switzerland have French-speaking part), although she is not from the French-speaking part a.k.a. Quebec.

One thing in her favor: Laurell has submitted songs for the Swiss selection for years, and was able to give them one of their best results in Tel Aviv.

Putting her name forward though as a potential performer is a whole other thing, however and I’m not sure the Swiss broadcaster is still open to getting non-Swiss nationals in their selection process as they have previously.

Really weird how connected these two works are! Who knows, she may have already given her heart to El Diablo…

Maybe Laurell Barker can compete in that planned San Marinese national final and she could actually go to eurovision!
