They’re the funky trio who brought Lithuania a top ten result at Eurovision 2021.
And now we are pleased to announce that The Roop have won the wiwibloggs Vision Music Award 2021 for Best Choreography.
The “Discoteque” singers won our readers’ hearts and took the top spot in our poll, which included our six favourite dance routines of Eurovision 2021.
The Roop win Best Choreography at the Vision Music Awards 2021
We asked our readers to vote for the Eurovision 2021 act with the best choreography. And The Roop have taken home the gold. The band — consisting of Vaidotas Valiukevičius, Robertas Baranauskas and Mantas Banišauskas — picked up 1,649 votes in our poll. That’s 28.96% of all votes cast.
Alongside choreographers Miglė Praniauskaitė and Marijanas Staniulenas, the two-time Pabandom iš Naujo! champions brought whacky and whimsical choreography to the Rotterdam stage, where they placed eighth with their feel-good number “Discoteque”.
One of the most memorable moments comes during the song’s bridge, where Vaidotas holds up his hand and performs an old school kid trick — moving his fingers back and forth to create shapes. The frontman later explained to host Edsilia Rombsey that these shapes symbolise the letters “E” and “V” — for Eurovision.
“A lot of references are taken from our childhood”, Mantas told our William in a wiwibloggs interview. “It might sometimes seem that it’s a silly thing we’re doing, but everything is put into this context having in mind the influence and reference. It is a serious dance after all.”
Vaidotas went on to say that the choreography is largely inspired by some of the band’s childhood heroes including David Bowie and Freddie Mercury. “It’s about our freedom”, he said.
The second most popular candidate in the Vision Music Award poll for Best Choreography is Iceland’s Daði og Gagnamagnið. Their self-choreographed iconic “10 Years” dance routine went viral on TikTok and proved to be popular with viewers across Europe and Australia, helping the group secure a fourth place finish at Eurovision 2021. The Icelandic six-piece picked up 1,306 votes — that’s 22.94% of the total.
Meanwhile, the bronze medal goes to Cyprus’ Elena Tsagrinou. For her effortlessly slick, hot and fiery choreography, the “El Diablo” songstress earned 1,198 votes — or 21.04% of all votes cast.

You had Romania in the poll but not Serbia? lol Even Malta’s choreo was more memorable. If we were judging based on the music videos – sure, but everything fell apart live.
Completely fair top3! I can argue Lithuania and Iceland got a high result partially thanks to their memorable dances and keep in mind I love their songs as well! Cyprus on the other hand was hurt by the running order, even tho I think it was kinda generic (a bop still)
