She placed second at Eurovision 2021 with the emotional song “VoilĂ ”. And now the professional rise of Barbara Pravi is picking up speed as she triumphs with the release of her debut album On n’enferme pas les oiseaux.

The album consists of eleven tracks, including her Eurovision entry “VoilĂ ”, as well as the songs “Le jour se lève” and “L’homme et l’oiseau”, songs previously unveiled as a triptych whose video clips together form a short film.

All the songs on the album are sung in French, Barbara’s native language, and like her Eurovision entry, all 11 songs are inspired by French variety and the tradition of French chanson. The album was composed and arranged by Vincha (Vincent Brion) and Jeremie Arcache, but also Igit and Lili Poe, her long-time collaborators, notably during the writing of “J’imagine” for Junior Eurovision. You don’t change a winning team!

The guiding principle of the album seems to lean toward self-expression — a feeling of freedom despite the judgement of others. Barbara uses the album to finalise her own renaissance, which began with her Eurovision journey. Now an accomplished artist, she is no longer afraid to move forward and take risks.

“Saute”

To those who thought she was predictable, Barbara surprises again. “Saute” (Jump!), a title with ethnic sounds, is different from her usual register — it’s a tasty mix between pop and oriental tones. The song’s music video is available to watch now.

A long awaited consecration

Barbara has made a habit of regularly greeting her fans on Instagram. And she recently let them know that her source of motivation is the love and kindness of the public:

“Thank you for giving me the chance to do the one thing that drives me: to live and write to sing you stories.”

It was also an opportunity for the singer to remember her journey — one littered with successes and failures — and to thank the people who believed in her and encouraged her not to give up when she no longer believed in herself.

“There is work, sweat, fear, infinite happiness, decisive encounters, friendships and so much sunshine that to choose from this lot seems impossible. […] there was the Eurovision, and the words of love received from my loved ones and from you.”

Previously, the young singer had explained the creative process behind this album, saying it was born in Italy – in Naples to be precise – during a summer vacation. Barbara admitted that at that time she had no idea that she would be so successful two years later.

An exceptional tour date at the Olympia

Amid an already busy tour schedule, Barbara does not intend to slow down. A few days before the release of her album, she finally unveiled an exceptional concert that will take place on December 05, 2022 on the mythical stage of the Olympia in Paris. It’s a place with a lot of meaning as it is synonymous with consecration for French singers. Tickets go on sale from Friday August 27th at 10:00 AM CET.

Great album, I love “saute”, the sad news is that the album is available everywhere except in Italy where she is totally boycotted… great spirit…

She said it herself in an interview today, that it is complicated for her and that she can’t have date in Italy for her Tour because she is boycotted there and that’s why her album can’t be sold in Italy…. look on internet you will find an article about this easily. Italy you’re the future host country you should show a different state of mind, Maneskin has never been boycotted in France….

I am sorry but where can i find this piece? Maybe it’s not translated correctly? I can hardly believe that she said she is boycotted (by whom? a whole country? lol) and her album is available on Spotify, Apple Music and iTunes there.

OK i found that article at voici(dot)fr So she said the album will not be physically released there (not a big deal, people do not buy physical albums anymore and there is always amazon stocking it anyway) and it is complicated to book a gig there. But i guess that’s normal because she’s not a well-known name. On top of that, she said she was not invited there but to be honest none of the Eurovision 2021 singers have been invited so far… i think she overreacted a bit, Italy has always been a strange country for ESC acts compared… Read more »

She also said that it would be impossible to be invited for next year’s contest but why would RAI invite her to perform? Did Mahmood perform in Rotterdam? I guess she can be invited in the ESC parties (if they take place) but why would she think that RAI will invite ESC2021 artists…

She is the best person to say if she is boycotted or not, so if she says that, it’s certainly not an overreaction but the reality. She has an european tour to come but can’t come in Italy and only Italy cause she can’t have dates, and why her album is not physically sold in Italy and only in Italy ,moreover the italian medias and RAI boycott her… and she gets every day insults from italians, it’s perfect, I’ve never seen so bad and mean sore winners like that and they will host this year, be prepared… Now no wonder… Read more »

I read the full article (translated by google lol) on the original website (https://www.20minutes.fr/arts-stars/culture/3109019-20210827-adore-eurovision-concours-faite-confie-barbara-pravi) It was the interviewer who said sometimes former eurovision stars get invited back to perform in future contests. They asked if she would like to do that, for example if RAI asked her next year (contextually I got the impression that the question was trying to find out if she was done with eurovision). In response she said that she would be surprised if she got invited next year because she was “boycotted”, but that she of course would if she was available. So it wasn’t… Read more »

Je l’aime je l’aime je l’aime, Mes maladroits and La ritournelle are my favorites, but all the tracks are very different and original that I can’t choose one. And lord, this instrumentation! Those sounds! It’s organic, fresh… This specific genre of music is really rare today but it feels so good when artists decide to make it live in their own way. Now, anyone can’t say it’s not part of the current French music scene, that it owns to an older time : it’s here, very here!! At least in my ears 🙂 Thank you Madame Pravi.
