They’re the Eurovision winning group known for their unique swerve on fashion, which frequently comes with a piquant sexual flavour.

And now Måneskin are putting it on full display for Gucci — the world’s most popular luxury brand — in their new #GucciAria campaign.

Writing on Instagram, the celebrated brand wrote that the campaign is meant to “capture the revolutionary and joyful impetus of eros as the creative force behind contemporary imagery.”

It chose its words carefully. The word eros — which no doubt comes from Eros, Greek god of love and sex — refers to that force that bridges the two. Fans of the Old Testament book the Song of Solomon will remember that the word is used there to portray the sensual intimacy and physical love between husband and wife.

The Italian rockers — who blur boundaries as individuals and as members of the band — have pulled eros into 2021 with their spirit of openness and tolerance, as they smash expectations of sexuality and gender.

They’ve famously said that their song “I Wanna Be Your Slave” is about exploring all facets of sexuality — what you are and what you could potentially be. And in Rotterdam they told us they take great joy in wearing clothes that obliterate gender stereotypes and that could, indeed, be genderless.

The two Gucci images are lush and luxurious, showcasing the band in their high fashion splendour. In one we see Victoria and Thomas on all fours. Thomas wears tight leather trousers and slightly arches his back while wearing a black harness — an item frequently associated with sexual fetish and restraint.

Meanwhile, Damiano — in oversized red shades — sits in an armchair with what appears to be a white peacock. Both he and Victoria boast black fringe on their arms, giving them an animalistic allure that celebrates both the craftsmanship at the House of Gucci, but also the ability of these stars to connect with their carnal yearnings.

Aware that the mind is as sexy as the body, Ethan stands at back reading a book while wearing an oversized broach and pink fringe that plays off the hues of the wall behind him.
