She’s one third of the Eurovision 2019 televote winners KEiiNO. But Alexandra Rotan is now undertaking a solo adventure by participating in Stjernekamp 2021.

Stjernekamp (English: Battle of the Stars) is a Norwegian TV show that sees established singers perform songs in a specific musical genre each week. The public vote for their favourites and the act with the fewest votes that week is eliminated.

Alexandra was one of ten acts that started out in this year’s season of the programme. Melodi Grand Prix alum Carina Dahl and Anna-Lisa Kumoji are also taking part.

The KEiiNO singer has continued to impress during the first four weeks and so far avoided elimination.

Alexandra Rotan performs Queen of the Night aria

The latest episode of the show was themed around opera. Alexandra took on the iconic Queen of the Night aria from Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute. Wearing a medieval-style dress with a black necklace and headpiece, she performed to a cast member as if she was in the opera herself.

Although we’re used to hearing the “Spirit In The Sky” singer deliver electro-pop songs, Alexandra showed her vocal talent extends beyond just that. She hit every note in the aria with precision – and with some standout facial expressions.

The expert panel gave Alexandra a standing ovation after she finished. Her performance also resonated with the viewers at home, who voted her through to next week’s show.

Anna-Lisa Kumoji performed “O mio babbino caro” (“Oh my dear daddy”) from the opera Gianni Schicchi. Carina Dahl took on “I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls” from The Bohemian Girl.

Both singers landed in the bottom three of the night. But they were eventually revealed to be safe and will also progress to next week.

Stjernekamp 2021: Weeks 1-3

Week 1

During the first episode, each act was able to showcase themselves without the fear of elimination. Alexandra performed a cover of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida”, which she also released as a single.

Opening up the show, the Eurovision alum stood alone for much of the performance with an LED microphone stand. She was joined by some dancers during the bridge to add a bit of dynamism before then finishing off by herself again.

Meanwhile, Carina performed Lady Gaga’s “Always Remember Us This Way” from A Star Is Born. Anna-Lisa took on “Proud Mary” by Tina Turner.

Week 2 – Stadium Rock

Week two saw the first official themed episode of the season, with each singer tasked with performing a stadium rock song. Alexandra found herself at the complete other end of the running order and closed out the show with a rendition of Europe’s “The Final Countdown”. And what a show closer it was!

Flanked by two guitarists, the Norwegian star rocked the stage. Whilst Alexandra has a relatively short hairstyle, she still made sure to whip it and head bang as much as possible. Her vocals were as strong as ever and leant themselves very well to this style of performance.

Carina opened up this week’s show with a performance of “Drums Of War” by Tindrum – she ended up in the bottom three of the week but was not eliminated. Anna-Lisa put her voice to Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”.

Week 3 – Norwegian-language

The third episode was all about music by Norwegian artists with Norwegian lyrics. Alexandra performed “Ikke Som De Andre” (“Not Like The Others”), originally released by Sondre Justad. The Eurovision 2019 star stood alone on stage in a pant suit. Starting off slowly like the original, Alexandra then took her rendition in a new direction by bringing in more of a pop beat. Despite the added production, it was clear that she felt the emotion of the song and shed a tear after finishing.

Sadly, Alexandra fell into the bottom three of the night. But thankfully the Norwegian star wasn’t eliminated and survived to sing her opera aria.

This week, Anna-Lisa performed “Jeg glemmer deg aldri” (“I’ll never forget you”), a song made famous by rock band Hellbillies and recently covered by Emma Steinbakken. Carina Dahl brought a bit of country to the stage and covered Halva Priest and Maria Mena’s “Den fineste Chevy’n” (“The prettiest Chevy”).

Yesterday Alexandra was singing/rap “All I Do Is Win”. Of course she was brilliant as always. This song is basically for 4 artist, Alex did a three-mans job when she sang the T-Pain chorus flawless without the original fussy autotune. She simultaneously masters the tempo of Ludacris as well as the flow of Rick Ross is so impressive. Yes, she drops the verse to Snoop Dog, but even Alexandra has a limit…she is human, she need to breath. The judges was so impressed, like last week (country song) she was in the top.

omg she gave me chills. Alexandra is so freaking talented. She’s got the whole package to pursue a solo career, how come she couldn’t do it before Keiino? She also has an amazing personality. I hope she wins the show.

By the way, I’ve never heard of this show in other countries, is it Norwegian format?

I love Keiino and I want to see them (the three of them) together for many years to come. Love their discography and they are very friendly and nice.

Knowing that glass-shattering note from the start of Lenge Live Livet, that makes sense.
