KEiiNO Monument 2021

It’s a regular fixture on the fan calendar, where OGAE fan club members decide their favourite of the national final acts who didn’t quite make it to Eurovision. Now the clubs have had their say and declared Norway’s KEiiNO the winner of the OGAE Second Chance Contest 2021 with their Melodi Grand Prix entry “Monuement”.

This year’s edition of the “visual event” was hosted by Melodifestivalklubben OGAE Sweden, after Melodifestivalen act Anna Bergendahl won Second Chance 2020 with her song “Kingdom Come”.

KEiiNO were a clear favourite with OGAE members. The Norwegian trio was 88 points ahead of the second placed act, a demonstration of the continuing popularity of KEiiNO with in the OGAE community.

The focus stayed on Scandinavia for second place. Sweden’s Eric Saade earned 353 points for his Melodifestivalen runner-up entry “Every Minute”.

In third place was Italy’s Irama. He may not have been able to perform his Sanremo entry live at the Italian song contest, but “La genesi del tuo colore” remained a fan favourite.

Finland’s Ilta was in fourth place with her song “Kelle mä soitan”, and rounding out the top five, Croatia’s Bernarda was in fifth with “Colors”.

The OGAE Second Chance nominees were taken from the acts who participated in their country’s national final for Eurovision 2021. OGAE clubs selected their country’s competing act — some automatically pick the second placed act, while others vote for their favourite.

Due to the larger number of broadcasters who opted to internally select their Eurovision entries for 2021, this year’s contest only involved 19 participating countries, compared to the 22 who competed last year.

Eric Saade has absolutely nothing to do in the top 3 of the Second Chance contest… The song is absolutely aweful and has the most unworthy lyrics of ant song of this national final season… Its just a joke. Should have been bottom 3 if u ask me. Russia and Portugal should have both been way way way higher in this ranking as well. Italy should have been second – as we only had the video to go by and not being able to judge a live performance it wouldnt have been fair to let it win, but it should… Read more »

Therr Maitz being last is a crime, should be at least in the top 5.
And I still can’t wrap my mind around Rijeka not being in this. Robbed twice.

only two things in life are certain: death and Sweden making the top 3 in OGAE’s Second chance contest.

Denmark would have done much better if they’d sent ‘Silver Bullet’

incorrect, we would’ve at least have been in the top 15 with ”står lige her” or ”beautiful” for that matter. for some reason our ogae have been so tonedeaf this year that they believed ”højt over skyerne” was deserving of a second chance, and the worst was that it didn’t even place second in dmgp! (excuse the rant)

Can’t believe Pony X came 6th, neither that the french fanclub chose this songg instead of LMK, or even Juliette Moraine who both could have done better, I think.

The first half of the title should’ve been “Melodi Grand Prix 2021:”

OGAE are reliably predictable with their choices. Italy/Nordics doing well CHECK! Sweden top 3 CHECK! Former Euro stars racking up votes CHECK! When Keiino lost MGP and I wrote on my comments “congrats Keiino on winning OGAE Second Chance”. I still don’t think the song is better or more fun or more memorable than Spirit in the Sky. They would never be able to duplicate that fan vote performance. But their fans (which I am on) still think they would’ve done real well with Monument but I have serious doubts. Nothing would unseat Maneskin.

the most overrated song ever. The song just try to replicate what made “Spirit in the sky” a good song, but does everything like a hot mess. Anyway im glad “Colors” got into the top 5. It was my favorite from the contest.

Well done KEiiNO!! Gladly surprised with Ilta fourth, and I’d rather placed Gebrasy and Jüri higher. But well… What an interesting result (and similar to the poll here at some parts)

Eric saade above irama?! No way. The lyrics were cringe.
And estonia only 10 and Albania 12?
And my country song which is a disaster above them? (UE la la).

Memoria isn’t that high in general, but it should have been last. It’s here as the default pick for Spain to begin with.

Congrats, KEiiNO! I have no issues with top 4. Nice to see Ilta high. Lithuania and Estonia underrated, Croatia overrated.

I think the same. Spirit in the sky was my 5th back in 2019 but Monument would have been in my top 3 this year and I think ESC 2021 was way stronger than ESC 2019.

I’m kinda surprised Spain didn’t end up dead last here, and personally I think Finland ended up far too high with a basic ballad, but it’s just OGAE, nothing important. Congrats to KEiiNO regardless though

Wow what a surprise! I’m kidding, congrats Norway! Eric or Irama would have been deserved winners too, then good results imo.
Sweden and Italy are definetely the favourites countries of the Ogae members especially in the second chance contests each years. Melfest and San Remo effects I guess.

Keiino, Irama and Juri have the songs I like here. Instead of Saade, I would have prefered to see Dotter for Sweden and Pony X are also not the best possible song out of the ones of the French Preselection.
