First they conquered Eurovision. And now they’re coming for the MTV Europe Music Awards 2021! Italy’s Måneskin have scooped up three nominations for the latest edition of the world-famous awards bash. This is an exceptional feat for the “Zitti E Buoni” rockers as, despite the title, the ceremony is typically dominated by North American acts.
Indeed, the artists with the most nods are all from across the pond — Justin Bieber has eight nominations, while Doja Cat and Lil Nas X have six apiece. Ed Sheeran is the highest place European with five nominations. Several more Eurovision and national final acts have received recognition in the regional categories.
Måneskin’s 2021 MTV EMA Nominations
Måneskin have been nominated in three categories. The first is Best Rock. Their competition comes in the form of Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Kings of Leon and The Killers. The foursome are also up for Best Group. Here they must overcome BTS, Imagine Dragons, Jonas Brothers, Little Mix and Silk Sonic. Unsurprisingly, the “I WANNA BE YOUR SLAVE” hitmakers are shortlisted for Best Italian Act too.
Eurovision nominees at the MTV EMAs 2021
As ever, the EMAs are mostly decided by audience vote, and each region also gets to vote for its best local act. These categories usually attract a few nominations of recent Eurovision and national final acts, with Diodato, Margaret and Fernando Daniel taking home gongs in 2020.

Worth to mention Måneskin will perform in NY the 27th of october and at the Roxy in LA the 1st of november. And the 26th of october they will be guests at the Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon on NBC, which is a huge success for them and the celebration in the international stardom.

MTV awards are irrelevant but ofc it’s good news for Maneskin and Gjon’s Tears. Maneskin being nominated in some main categories is WOW, what was the last time a Eurovision winner gets nominations in the main MTV categories?

With all due respect, Best Group will be Maneskin’s biggest longshot – I consider BTS to be the favorites for that award due to their massive and obsessive fanbase. Their best bet will be Best Italian Act

these awards are fan voted so bots will make sure their faves get it, won’t change the fact that måneskin got three smash hits in europe this year while butter and permission to tank failed to scan platinum anywhere in the continent.
The hungarian eurofans have no Eurovision again this year but they will welcome in their soil some Eurovision acts as Hungary host this ceremony, a little consolation for them. They could feel again a little bit esc related. It must be be sad for an eurofan to see his country withdrawing and not coming back.
