Paris ain’t just the City of Lights. It’s also a city of music with some very bright stars. To prove the point, producers of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 have called on the deep house duo Ofenbach to open the show.
Yep. Just as people started to buy tickets for the big show at the Seine Musicale, producers dropped the big news that the French electronic music act Ofenbach will open proceedings. They’re a duo who excel at music beyond what they’re primarily known for. While their signature sound involves the synthesizer, members Dorian and Cesar also offer their compositions in acoustic. The talent is real.
And so is the invite from France 2, who used an evening news broadcast to announce their upcoming appearance at the start of the December 19th show.

Who is JESC 2021 opening act Ofenbach ?
Ofenbach (not to be confused with the composer of the same name, spelled Offenbach) is a French musical duo composed of César Rummel and Dorian Lauduique, two childhood friends who grew up in Paris. Sometimes compared to Daft Punk, the group became popular internationally in 2016 thanks to the success of the song “Be Mine”.
From 2017, the duo solidified their momentum thanks to a cover of the song “Katchi” by Nick Waterhouse.
The group also performed on stage at the Tomorrowland festival in 2018.
This choice may seem surprising for a competition involving children, but France Television seems to want to emphasize the ‘international’ character of the duo and bring different generations together.
This won’t be the first collaboration for Ofenbach within the Eurovision universe. They previously worked on the title “Paradise” from Benjamin Ingrosso and collaborated with the singer from Pony X, who participated in the Eurovision France national final.
Do you listen to Ofenbach? Do you think they’re a good fit for JESC? Let us know in the comment section down below.
Ofenbach in Eurovision for France in 2022 I’d love the idea or a song composed by them, they are talented, fresh and innovative so it would be cool, although we still don’t know anything about the french NF of the next year… maybe we will learn something about that and not only the jesc host/hosts during the press conference of Eurovision France on Twitter on november 17th …we will see.
Wait, there’s a conference on november 17th ? I’m french I didn’t even know that ? Do you have a source or a link, please ? They usually reveal the contestants for the french NF in early december (except for DE2018 it was late december/early january).
Look at the Twitter account of France Télévisions 😉 they have replied to a tweet from @lachaine12pts asking about when will be revealed the host/hosts, and it will be at 2 pm on november 17th live on Twitter.
During an episode of “dans les secrets du junior eurovision”, I have seen a document about the plans for the show in la Seine Musicale showing there will 3 boxes for 3 different hosts, but the tweet of France tv talks about one host only so let’s see, answer in 6 days.
Ok, I knew for the 3 hosts but thank you for the tweet. I guees we we’ll get another conference fo EF2022 later in december. It seems a bit early to already reveal the contestants, I think, but we never know.
Who do you think the MC trio will be?
OMG, YES!!! “Katchi” is my favorite of ALL their songs, they really deserve to open JESC!!
That’s great but I’m still waiting for surprise entrant reveals from Armenia and Italy, as well as song reveals for Georgia and Ireland.
