It’s not long now! On Friday 26 November, we will learn the names of the first 14 acts competing in Melodifestivalen 2022. In Melfest tradition, fans will also learn the titles of the songs each artist will sing in February.

Show host Oscar Zia confirmed the news on the official Melodifestivalen Instagram account, sharing his excitement for the first big announcement of Melfest 2022.

While the artists and their song titles will be revealed on Friday, fans will have to wait until February to hear the competing songs of the 2022 Swedish national final.

In the past, all 28 competing Mello acts were announced at one event. However, last year — due to pandemic precautions — the artists reveal was split over three days. This year, it appears to have been divided into two groups — however SVT has not yet confirmed when the rest of the Melfest 2022 acts will be announced.

Melodifestivalen 2022: What we know so far

The Melodifestivalen tour is set to return in 2022. Semi-finals are due to kick off in Malmö on 5 February 2022, with the grand final due to take place at its usual home at Friends Arena in Stockholm on 12 March. The shows — which will take place in six cities and towns around Sweden — will also have a live audience.

Melfest 2022 will be hosted by Oscar Zia. The three-time Melodifestivalen contestant and one of the 2021 hosts will be the main show host this season, however he will also be joined by other stars, still to be named.

According to Aftonbladet, we already know 14 acts for Melodifestivalen 2022. They are Robin Bengtsson, LiamooKlara Hammarström, Alvaro Estrella, Angelino, Lance HedmanJohn Lundvik, Malou Prytz, Theoz, Cazzi Opeia, Medina, Anna Bergendhal, Linda Bengtzing and Tenori.

What do you think? Which other artists would you like to see competing in Melfest 2022? Who should Sweden send to Turin? Tell us your thoughts below!

I would love to see Dotter try again. She is such a good artist! I just think she was unlucky in the other years… but I think if she participates this year, she can win.

I’m 99% sure Omar Rudberg is gonna be announced. Him, a rock band and an old schlager fav are probably sealed

I would love to see Wiktoria come back and win someday. She’s had so many good songs in past editions of Melfest but never actually took the trophy ;(

She’s pretty done with the whole thing though. She has no interest in it

I hope that most of the artists announced on Friday are names that haven’t been leaked.
So far, among the leaked names, I like the mix between newcoming acts and established ones.

I know everyone’s going to downvote me but it kind of annoys me who it’s almost the same artists year in year out. I get the shows are usually great with amazing songs but I just need something fresh now

And yet when Estonia and Italy have the same artists again you all love it. Stig Rästa, Mahmood, Gabanni. I dont see people being annoyed about those..

Some Countries inevitably have returning names in the national finals year after year because they have such a small population.

Is that usually the balance? 50% newcomers and 50% alumni?
