Last week SVT revealed the first 14 acts who’ll be competing in Melodifestivalen 2022. Now it’s time to meet the second half. The Swedish broadcaster today announced the final group of acts who’ll be competing in Sweden’s Eurovision national final.
The lineup was due to be revealed on Friday, however due to an accidental early reveal on the Melodifestivalen app, SVT went ahead and published the full list two days early.
Earlier this year, SVT confirmed the dates and venues of Mello 2022, and also revealed that the shows would be hosted by Oscar Zia.
While Melodifestivalen 2022 is tasked with finding Sweden’s entry for Turin, the show is more than just a Eurovision national final. Melfest is a celebration of Swedish culture, with producers careful to select a wide range of artists and genres that reflect popular Swedish music.

What is next?
The lineup of Melodifestivalen 2022 is now complete, with all 28 competing acts revealed. In coming weeks, SVT will reveal which acts will be competing in each of the four semi-finals. This can offer some clues as to what the strongest entries are considered to be.
Traditionally, the competing songs are previewed in the days prior to each semi-final.
What do you think of the Melodifestivalen 2022 lineup? Which acts are you most excited for? Who do you think will win the ticket to Rotterdam? Tell us your thoughts below!
Shame on who?
Lancelot seems promising. Listened to his songs and he is giving me a dark horse vibes. Hoping I’m correct
Will it be a 3rd times a charm for Anna B? She was my favorite in 2020 and she desveres to have a 2nd try after what happened in Oslo. Best of luck to all contestants.
For years I wished Lisa Miskovsky to come back. I really like her music, so I hope she’ll bring another bit of a fresh air just like she did in 2012 when she was my 2nd fav after Loreen
I do love Melfest because as a TV show it is top- notch and at least you never get songs that are outright junk. I think that people who downgrade this selection do so because it feels safe and expected. There’s a sense you’ve heard these types of songs before and they typically fit a box you’ve seen at Melfest before. It seems Clara Klingenström‘s success last year also cleared the way for more female singer-songwriter-types—lots of ladies fill this category.
So – the odds just came in. John Lundvik and Robin Bengtsson with the lowest odds followed by Anna Bergendahl, Klara Hammarström and Omar. Anders Bagge got the highest odds.
Where did you find this information?
So the rumours were real. I think the winner will be a newcomer. Can’t expect anything wow from the people that competed recently. Btw, what happened to Robin B? He looks a bit different. Plastic surgery or what?
He’s gorgeous as always. I didn’t think anything bad, no need to downvote.
If you don’t throw up sugar and confetti here, you’ll surely be downvoted… I know much about that 😉
I confirm, this kind of comments must be sugarcoated so misunderstandings don’t take place
There are a couple of returning names that bore me to death, but I see the new showrunner is trying to refresh things without alienating those who were satisfied with how Melfest has been working. There are a few rock acts (one for each heat, I suppose), opera singers, rappers, newcomers that can bring a more distinct pop sound… The question is if the audience will let them move to the next round.
Does Sweden only have a couple dozen artists?
They have way more than that but the mainstream scene is hoarded by the same few acts
Well I will say it now!
People that don’t like Tone are Tone deaf!
we love tone! she is everything
im actually excited this year, most of the newcomers seem to be at least partially behind their songs and seem to be acts with their own vision and artistry which was severly lacking in recent years.
I know you all want only new names and big stars like Robyn, Laleh, Agnes but they are not interested to do it. What can they do, force them? And you cant have Mello with only new names, then people would say “where are the veterans”,no one knows these people”
SVT is trying to mix it up and we have to wait for songs until we judge…
Agnes actually competed in 2009 and came 8th in the finale
Im so excited that Lisa Miskovsky is back, i love her song “Why start a fire”.
Yes Anna, Malou and Lisa Miskovsky is back! For boys I hope Robin B en Alvaro have a good song too! For the rest I don’t know I’m excited about melfest 2022!! I also expect much from Browsing Collection the have cool songs!
It’s very bizarre Anna said she could not do Melfest this year since she’s been busy with her studies but here she is…and co-writer of the actual song too—which means she actually was working on a song to submit and wasn’t just asked because she was given the perfect song. With that said—given the co-writers, I have to imagine it’s going to be an amazing song and she will do well. Malou’s song title and with the songwriters attached clearly point to an Ace Wilder-type song.
Is it OK not to be excited for Melodifestivalen 2022?
Yup, very ok. Seeing the same names almost every year and knowing the kind of fast food music that’s about to be released… Makes me dry up like the Sahara.
People acting like other people aren’t sending fast food music is hilarious. You haven’t even heard the songs yet. There are plenty of new faces. Why is there such a negative view on Sweden?
I find it useless to judge whether a national final is worth being excited about or not until the songs are released. Therefore I am keeping a neutral opinion about Melodifestivalen until the songs are out. Although I admit I am a little bit of a hypocrite on this part because I’m really looking forward to Lithuania is national final because of the broadcaster’s investment of €54.000 to help raise the quality of the songs for 2022. I took it as a sign that Lithuania is getting seriously ambitious about Eurovision, and I hope that it’s worth it in the… Read more »
How about waiting for the songs then?
Am i the only one that loooove Shirley Clamp!? So happy she is back 🙂
Why Robin Bengtsson again? I have not liked a single one of his Melfest entries, they have just been ok songs.
I find that kinda weird that LIAMOO and Medina songs have the same songwriters
Alvaro Estrella will probably sing something very poetic and innovative like vamos amor baila baila mi amor
You forgot amigos
plsss the way it’s the same recycled songwriters everywhere… tone sekelius is the one that stands out so far (i’m not excited for any of those returning names, what do people like robin bengtsson and malou prytz have to offer honestly ?), so let’s hope she won’t disappoint my expectations.
I do not understand that there is so much enthusiasm for Omar knowing that in 2017 with his group they had finished penultimate, and in 2019 all alone, entry elimination .. John and Robin, finished 5th according to their year of victory and despite the fact that we can expect a pop song from them, I think it will always be effective! Omar is not good at live …
happy with the return of Anna and Malou and I hope that some new ones will stand out !!!
Finally it is more debutants than returnees. I thought everyone would be happy in the comments but whatever
Appearently artists like Tone is same old same old according to the comments lol
When you don’t have big names it’s like “who are these people? we need star power” and when you get previous winners back it’s “we actually want fresh faces we haven’t heard a thing about”…
They probably expect major acts like Zara Larsson, Abba or Agnes to join. Thing is – they are not interested. People are so tired of Sweden doing well that they are constantly looking for flaws to calm themselves.
Not sure if a gem that is called Why Start a Fire is beatable but damn, so glad Lisa Miskovsky is back, loved her!! top three with Anna Bergendahl and Linda Bengtzing already for me))) girl powerr
Now that the line-up is completed and revealed, when the first odds for Melfest will appear? We have already some odds for Eurovision 2022 so it will arrive quickly for the Melfest I guess. I know most of people here don’t like the odds for Eurovision but it is a part of the fun for me, mainly when they are wrong 😉
Lisa Miskovsky’s ‘Still alive’ still gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. Hopefully her new song will be as good as that.
It seems to me that Melodifestivalen is a tv product which either no letting the fresh and interesting artists to participate. Obviously many artists they would not want to participate but I see on YouTube so much interesting contemporary talent and we stuck with artists such as Robin Bentsson or Malory or Shirley Clamp which is tv singers and liked but middle class moms. Have they seen what type of artists get good results in the last few years? Obviously many of them participate to promote themselves and their new songs and they don’t want to win Eurovision. Plus how… Read more »
There are 15 debutants in 2022. Your wish is already granted
LISA MISKOVSKY IS BAAACK!!
Always the same singers and the same writers. I loved Melodifestivalen from 2011 to 2016 but now it’s boring. The people working at SVT and choosing the songs are unable to question themselves.
I hope something different from what we’ve heard for years will surprise us but I’m not too confident about that.
Exactly! Total meh! Same old same old. Where are the fresh interesting artists of the Swedish scene???? I think Sweden started repeated a lot themselves like Ireland in 00s and Greece in10s and that’s why their results are going downwards
Going downwards? Two wins, five top 5, one top 10 finish. Only this year with Tusse can be seen as bad and even he reached 14th which is decent
win – top 5 – top 10 – 14th is downward.
So? Its still only one year. That means nothing. Everyone does bad now and then. It is only downwards if it becomes constant. We are not there yet.
Yeah, I wouldn’t worry too much about Sweden yet. One time placing outside of the top 10 isn’t the first sign that a country is going downhill. It’ll probably just be a one off slip and Sweden will be hitting another top 10 position next year for sure depending on what wins melfest 2022. Now, if Sweden fails to make the top 10 again in eurovision 2022, Or has a weak selection of songs, that’s when it’s time to worry. But ultimately, I think Sweden will be fine.
Its 15 debutants and 14 returnees. Your wish is already granted?
I could enjoy the fact that indeed half the contestants are new comers. But the other half is still too much for me. 3 ex winners and 2 of them are from really recent edition.
It’s the same for Eesti Laul but at least Estonia tries a lot of different musical genres.
All this talent we have here in Sweden and we keep in having Alvaro Estrella, Robin Bengtsson and gang? I’ve seen more of these artists recent years than I have my family lmao
I still think top 3 will be Anna, Liamoo and Omar
why is anna always so hyped up ? i find it weird considering her melfest entries don’t even do well in the charts and no one really listens to her outside of those songs… i literally don’t get it lmao
Not only are there many returnees, there are also a lot of the same people writing the songs and even writing many of the songs in the same year…
I’m all in for people to try and do better every time but like… aren’t there other song-writers in Sweden?
Anyway, good luck to all participants and I expect another great show from Sweden 🙂
If you check songwriters on all songs, most of them are quite new (at least new to me) Bobby Ljunggren, Thomas G:son, Jimmy Jansson etc do not have as many as they had before
Nice list in my opinion.
For now I think Omar and liamoo might be the favorites. But of course I’ll wait for the songs.
Predictable is what comes to mind tbh.. A lot of the same faces as per usual and always these duo’s consisting of 2 cute guys, the Latin dude, the rock band, the fresh pop girl.. To give diversity.. Then bring the diversity to Eurovision and not another pop song by a cute guy! Yes glad Anna is back but I’m not fixing my eye on Sweden just yet..
Wow Malous song is written by Ace Wilder…interesting…
I think her last 2 songs also were
Ah never noticed hahahaah
For Alvaro it is his 4 attemp at Mello! (He was in 2014,2020,2021)
Over half of the acts this year are returning acts which is cool, but I would like to see one year where it is more heavily weighted towards newcomers. Only because some of these people have been here 3-4 times already and I’m not saying that is bad, but seeing people come several times in a row (especially after their other songs were just average) and not explore more genre and artists can get a bit tiring
15 returning artist vs 14 debutantes? I’d say that is almost even.
No its 15 debutants:
Anders Bagge
Danne Stråhed
Cornelia Jakobs
Cazzi Opeia
Samira Manners
Tribe Friday
Theoz
Niello
Browsing Collection
Medina
Tenori
Lancelot
Tone Sekelius
Malin Christin
Angelino
I did a little study to see which of these acts or debutantes and return it, it’s an almost even mix, 14 debutantes and 15 returnees (I think, I split up the duet between niello and Lisa Ajax to count separately). I wonder how accurate the tabloid was in predicting the Melodifestivalen lineup.

Judging from this, it sounds like Anna Berghandal is the act number 28, lets hope its a smash
Hope God listens to you
same, really loved her 2019 entry and I she did win OGAE SC. i feel she has potential to win
She has “fan songs”, that is why she won OGAE. However that doesnt mean she would win ESC. In fact the winner of ESC rarely wins OGAE..
She’s the only one suitable for it really but she closed SF1 and SF2 respectively in 2019 and 2020 so I’m not sure they’d give her the spot again unless her song screams winner.
The only other potential act IMO is LIAMOO.
