Albania is back at Junior Eurovision after a one year absence. The country has made a total of six appearences in the contest, including a top five finish in 2015 with Mishela Rapo’s “Dambaje”. For 2021, it’s sending Anna Gjebrea with “Stand By You”.

Albania in Junior Eurovision 2021: Anna Gjebrea “Stand By You”
Anna Gjebrea, the young star, is no stranger to the showbiz world in Albania. Her father Ardit Gjebrea is a very popular host and producer, working on the likes of E Diela Shqiptare and Kënga Magjike.
Anna was crowned as the winner of the Albanian National Final, Junior Fest 2021, out of 19 competing songs. Her entry was produced by Adam Watts, Gannin Arnold, Sanni M’Mairura, and the lyrics written by Endi Çuçi and Anna Gjebrea. Adam Watts is a very well known American producer, behind the songs for the Hannah Montana TV series, the Jonas Brothers and Kelly Clarkson.
What do the “Stand By You” lyrics mean?
“Stand By You” has a very strong message against bullying. Anna stands with all children hurt by bullying, singing “aty do jem të premtoj” (I will be there, I promise).
The music video continues the message as we see Anna and her friends stand up against the bullies using the mantra — “Be a buddy, not a bully”.
In an interview with wiwibloggs, Anna tells us that she wants to spread a message to Europe about the negative impacts of bullying – not only to children right now, but also their future selves.
She says: “Bullying is something that happens a lot today, and many many people have experienced it. And I even had some of my friends experience it, and I felt so bad.” She goes on to pinpoint the main message of the song which for her is “Strength is in numbers, we have to get together and stop bullying because it is not good.”
