Back in August she openly supported Bologna in its bid to become Eurovision 2022 host city. And while Torino may have won hosting duties, that hasn’t dulled Laura Pausini‘s passion for the song contest. So much so that Italian media are reporting she’s in contention to host the show in Italy next May.
The report comes from Dagospia, as cited by talian newspaper La Stampa.
Laura is considered to be among the best-known Italian artists in the world. She has won pretty much every major award you can think of — including an MTV Italian Music Award, Latin Grammy Awards, and Billboard Latin Music Awards.
She broke onto the scene by winning the newcomer’s section of the 43rd Sanremo Festival in 1993 with her debut single “La solitudine”. Her 2006 album Io canto was the best-selling album of the year in Italy.
You may remember that Laura performed her Oscar-nominated song “Io Si/Seen” at the 2021 Oscars pre-show.
Eurovision would fit in with her continued push on the international scene. As the paper reports, next year she’ll star in a film for Amazon that she conceived herself.
“I was looking for something innovative in the scripts, but I didn’t feel the urge to tell myself. Then I realized there was one thing I wanted to share. I’ll try to tell it as honestly as possible,” she’s teased.
Would you like to see Laura hosting the Eurovision Song Contest? If not, then who? Let us know in the comments box below.
Last rumours are Alessandro Cattelan, Mika, Laura Pausini and the actress Matilda De Angelis. Of course Mika can still be a fake, unless he has changed his advice on the contest, or maybe the fact Måneskin won Eurovision gives him more attention to the show. Or just he’s in debt with Rai for the fact they gave him his own first show chance on Italian TV back in 2016 and 2017. Anyway I, believe they will host well. Mika covers also the likes of the vast gay audience of the ESC.
That song is stunning. I think she could be excellent for the contest. I would love it if she was the only host (or 2 at most)
No, ti prego no!
Wasn’t she in favour of Bologna as host city? Would be so funny if they pick her as host in Torino.
Did she appear during the 2006 Winter Olympic closing ceremony? There was a famous female singer there and I do strongly remember the BBC commontator remarking “she’s done it all besides Eurovision”, (words to that effect), I still remember that after 15 years.
it was Elisa.
I’m not sure if her english is on the level necessary for Eurovision, but she would be great. She has a very bubbly and charming personality and that’s something I give her credit for despite absolutely not liking her music for the most part.
It could also be a case where the host is also an interval act? Her and Cattelan would be a dream duo, honestly.
It would be cool to have her but I’m skeptical, a couple of months ago it was stated that Rai wanted to cut some expenses and would favour talents already signed to the broadcaster, I don’t think Laura is signed to Rai though
She is not signed to RAI.
I would love that! We’ve been a fan of hers since before we discovered Eurovision! ?
RAI has so many professional TV presenters but I wouldn’t mind her since she is very famous and an icon, does she speak good English and maybe French?
Please anyone but Mika
And Spanish. I first discovered her because she sang the songs for La Madrastra (“Viveme”) and In The Name of Love (“En Cambio No”).
I hope so !! Laura is great !!!
i’d be surprised if she hosted since i’m pretty sure rai will pick some of their experienced tv hosts for the job
She could be a green room host, not the main one.
I don’t think she would accept to be a green room host. Also, if they choose 2-3 hosts, there are more than enough to cover the green room hosting duty.
