The five auto-qualifiers are Anna-Lisa Kumoji, NorthKid, Elsie Bay, Christian Ingebrigtsen and Subwoolfer.

Melodi Grand Prix 2022: Automatic qualifier acts
Anna-Lisa Kumoji – “Queen Bees”
Songwriters: Olli Äkräs, Alan Roy Scott, Elsbeth Rehder, Anna-Lisa Kumoji
Anna-Lisa Kumoji has many years of experience as a professional singer and actress, both in musicals and television. In 2019, she managed to reach the gold final of Melodi Grand Prix 2019 with “Holla”, and now once again she has managed to climb up the ranks to feature in her second MPG final with the rousingly vintage “Queen Bees”.
NorthKid – “Someone”
Songwriters: Helge Moen, Alex Charles, Sandra Lyng, Jim Bergsted
Bilal Saab, Helge Moen, Håkon Guttormsen, Sebastian Willassen and Vegard Olaussen form the pop band NorthKid. Popularly proclaimed as “the world’s northernmost boy band”, with origins in Alta and Hasvik, they serve a slice of musical joy and playfulness across their material. Saab himself has won the popular television show Stjernekamp in 2019, and now the whole band is ready to compete for a place in the Eurovision Song Contest in May.
Elsie Bay – “Death of Us”
Songwriters: Elsa Søllesvik, Jonas Holteberg Jensen, Andreas Stone Johansson
Elsa Søllesvik got her breakthrough already as part of the act Elsa & Emilie, garnering her much popularity around the country, but now she has rebranded as Elsie Bay. She has also written music for several shows, such as SKAM and the Korean TV series The Queens House, and songs for MGP, including “Witch Woods” last year, and “Hammer of Thor” this year.
Christian Ingebrigtsen – “Wonder of the World”
Songwriters: Christian Ingebrigtsen, Michael Hunter Ochs, Henrik Tala
Christian Ingebrigtsen is better known as a member from the world-famous pop group A1, who have won several prestigious music awards and sold over 10 million albums. Christian has also written several songs in Melodi Grand Prix that have ended high in the competition, including the Ulrikke Brandstorp’s “Attention”, the winning song of the 2020 edition.
Subwoolfer – “Give That Wolf a Banana”
Songwriters: “Keith”, “Jim”
Self-described as “The biggest band in the Galaxy, formed 4.5 billion years ago on their home planet, the moon”, little is known of “Keith” and “Jim”, the canid pair that makes up the duo Subwoolfer. Many rumours about their identity have been thrown around, including suspicions of them being the internationally-known Ylvis. Nevertheless, they have said that they want to “claim their musical throne by performing at the most prestigious musical event in the history of the world – MGP Norway 2022.”

Another thing: I find it completely idiotic that most pre-listening is based in studio versions, who actually don’t say anything about voice/stage quality
Northkid is the only candidate who has impressive voice qualities that will stand out at Eurovison stage. Bilal is an amazing vocalist, a Norwegian treasure. I am completely embarrassed how these other contributors can even be compared: Subwoofer is a complete joke, and we don’t even know if they actually sing. Elsie Bay has a lovely song (but is not really original as it is completely similar to Lana del Reys Young and Beautiful), but she does not have a voice to bear it. The others are meh….
Elsie Bay, fantastic!
Subwoolfer may be the first ever song for furries in Eurovision.
Surprisingly, all of them except Wonder of the World deserved the AQ. Im very mpressed at the Norwegians’ choice!
Out of these automatic qualifiers, only Elsie bay impresses me. Other than subwoolfer, the rest don’t excite me. Good luck.
Are you serious Wiwi audience ? Subwoolfer in 2nd ? Gimme a break!
All are decent and I see why they gave them their place, but strictly from my ranking, “Death of Us” And “Wonder of the World” Are not in my top 10.
“Give that wolf a banana” Is my #1 and the rest are in my lower top 10
Elsie Bay……..next question please !
Subwoolfer – “Give That Wolf a Banana” is completely different! Not the best, the lyrics are problematic, but still something new…not a Arcane 2.0 or Tears are getting sober 2.0
In general it was weak group, hope for better songs!
Honestly, Death of Us is giving me the same feelings I had when I first listened to Duncan Laurence’s Arcade, Roxen’s Alcohol You and Victoria’s Tears are getting sober. Magical, impactful, full of emotions, goosebumps all over. Close to crying! That must mean something. This could win Eurovision. Norway, choose wisely…
I had the same thoughts when I first listened, it’s as magical and haunting as the three you mentioned! I wouldn’t be mad if we have a winner before the end of February if this wins MGP.
“Give That Wolf A Banana” is the worst song I’ve ever heard. I hope it won’t make it into the top 4 of the final
Agree, it’s so bad.
it’s not that bad thinking about it as a unique song, but i don’t get the hype when they clearly have the ESC winner :/
death of us is the only one i like
Among these 5 entries I think it’s “Queen Bees”. I would love this or “Hammer of Thor” in Turin.
“Death of us” hands down, gave me goosebumps on first listen! “Give That Wolf a Banana” is an easy second among auto qualifiers for me while the other 3 are just fine.
death of us literally the only option for norway
All of them are good. Death of Us is my winner, Give That Wolf a Banana and Queen Bees are in my top 5, while Someone and Wonder of the World are in my top 10. Good job, Norway!
If nothing else, for me, this is the first time that the pre-qualified acts in this expanded MGP selection do seem to be deserved. I don’t like the NorthKid song much but the other four are amongst the stronger end of the competition.
1) Elsie
2) Anna-Lisa
3) Subwoolfer
4) Christian
5) NorthKid
I’ve not seen enough people talking about how good queen bees is. It’s a bop
I think Queen Bees is super underrated. The song is so fun and quirky but not in an off-putting way
Isn’t Death of Us a desperate attempt to catch the pre-final excitement of Bulgaria’s entry of last year? I know Bulgaria didn’t do too well in the final, but I fear Norway may be tempted o copy last year’s buzz (which often has been proved lethal) and ultimately will be caught in trap!
“Bulgaria didn’t do too well” bro did you watch the same contest as us or-
11th is in my opinion a good result.
Well 10th if you disregard the inevitable Cyprus/Greece “loading”
I wouldn’t call it desperate; I think it’s a really impressive song. But yeah, it does worry me a bit that Bulgaria only got 30 points from the televoters with a similar song last year.
Death Of Us, Someone and Give that wolf a banana are the only good songs and could give Norway a very good result at Eurovision, the other two should not have been automatic qualifiers!
Death Of Us a top 10 entry for sure!! The rest not quite
