Can’t stop, won’t stop. That seems to be the mantra of Eurovision 2021 winners Måneskin, as they’ve added two big performances to their schedule: one on Saturday Night Live, the other at Coachella.

Måneskin: Saturday Night Live welcomes Eurovision winners

This Saturday — that’s January 22 — the Italian foursome will, once again, appear on American television. Damiano, Ethan, Thomas and Victoria will perform as special musical guests on NBC’s Saturday Night LiveNBC is, of course, the same network airing the American Song Contest from March 21, a fact that may give it extra motivation to celebrate the latest Eurovision winners.

The band previously appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, another NBC product.

For those of you who don’t know, Saturday Night Live is a long-running and storied comedy sketch show. It regularly skewers political figures and celebrities, and parodies news and trends of the week. The show boasts alums like Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Will Ferrell, the star of the Netflix hit movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

Each episode includes a special musical guest. The week after Måneskin it’ll be Katy Perry.

During all of their TV appearances in the US, the band have sung “Beggin'” — their cover of the Frankie Valli original. The song was nominated for an American Music Award for Favorite Trending Song and cracked the Top 30 of the Billboard charts.

Despite that success, Måneskin fans are hopeful the band will perform something else on SNL. Our personal pick would be their original song “I Wanna Be Your Slave” or perhaps an Italian-language track like “Zitti e buoni”.

Måneskin to perform on the Sunday of Coachella

It’s not all about TV, of course. The band have also landed a coveted spot at Coachella — the musical extravaganza at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

They’re performing on the two Sundays — that’s April 17 and 24. Ye — the artist formerly known as Kanye West — will headline the Sunday shows. Other Sunday acts include Doja Cat, Fatboy Slim, and Billie Eilish’s brother FINNEAS.

Harry Styles will headline the Friday shows, which also feature Lil Baby and Carly Rae Jepsen, while Billie Eilish will headline the Saturday shows, which also feature Megan Thee Stallion and 21 Savage.

Will you be watching SNL this Saturday? And do you have plans to head to California this April? Let us know down below!

You know we truly have failed as society when Beggin has been a bigger success than Zitti e buoni.

“Beggin’” actually reached the Top 20, peaking at number 13 on the Hot 100 a couple of months ago. It’s since fallen off the chart, so I’m thinking they’ll likely be promoting “Mammamia” as their next radio single here (it’s already gotten some airplay here, but not in heavy rotation). But it’d be cool to see them break out “Zitti e buoni” for one of these appearances.

They can make a perfect framing in the American song contest. They’ll show Volare (Dipinto di blu), Waterloo. Then Arcade. And then they say: here is the last years ESC winner with their winning song.

And then the US audience will be introduced to a song in Italian. By Måneskin, a band they’ve heard about already. It will work well.

That can be their second hit song in the us after that.

Anyway, I am very surprised Måneskin have not been invited to perform in the final of the ASC. It is sure they are not invited because if they must be present the day after in Turin it’s physically impossible they can be the 9th evening in the USA and the 10th evening in Milano. Also considering the timezone and the switch to the next day travelling from west to east.

I’m pretty sure they are only mentioning ESC because their version hasn’t aired yet. Once it starts I don’t think they are gonna be mentioning the inspiration show at all. Their tv shows are not known for acknowledging the original.

I’m happy for them! I just hope they aren’t going to sing Beggin’ for the…millionth time because you can see that even they’re sick of it

I always wanted to go to Coachella, and this year more so than ever. Shame the p- word prevents any travel to US:(

Many of my favorite acts will perform there and I would’ve loved to have a blast. Such a shame, not only because of the pandemic, but I have no money to go there and I’d also need to update my visa, in order to be able to go there 🙁

They only sing that one cover song everywhere, so who cares anymore?

This starts to be boring. At iHeart radio they sang 5 different songs. They sang only one song at the AMAs, because everybody did so. They sang one song at Ellen’s and Jimmy Fallon’s. At the opening of the Stones they performed 7 or 8 songs. Probably as the accusation of doing cocaine cannot be used anymore, now the trend is on Beggin’.

On SNL, musical guests usually get two performance slots during the episode. Sometimes, they might get three, but that is usually only reserved for huge stars like Jay-Z. So we will get to see more than just “Beggin’” when they perform.

It’s truly extraordinary seeing the measures of success and impact Måneskin have made since their Eurovision victory where other winners in the 21st century didn’t achieve a huge global buzz in the following months but it’s a real shame their breakthrough was largely consumed through a cover they did on X Factor 4 years ago that blew up on TikTok. Every guest appearance the band have made on American TV was just to perform “Beggin” and you can see it with their facial expressions how tired they’re getting. I’m a little worried for their musical direction and potential sacrifice of… Read more »

Do you really think RAI will not do whatever they can to have Måneskin in the first semifinal and in the grand final, as happened for Duncan Lawrence in Rotterdam? They will be present to hand over the trophy to the new winner. Last year it should have happened the same, but Duncan was positive. It is true, Beggin’ is a huge success in the USA but they have got gold and platinum records everywhere, even in Australia. Your thoughts are a little bit biased.

Not really sure why so many think they wouldn’t want to perform at the Eurovision their win brought to Italy. People said the same about Sanremo for some reason, that Måneskin wouldn’t return. But they always kept that first week of February open in an otherwise packed schedule. And wouldn’t you know, they’ve just been announced as guests for the first evening. Then the rest of their spring and summer schedule is booked up except for an entirely empty May. Going out on a limb to guess that’s not by accident…

Yeah, I agree with you. But I didn’t complete well my thought in my previous statement. They got gold and platinum records all over the world and with different songs, Zitti e Buoni, IWBYS, probably also Mammamia (and I’m speaking only of the last album plus Mammamia which is an anticipation of the next one. RAI would be crazy not to use them as a vehicle to gather mor audience from Italy (the most difficult thing) and from abroad. If ESC in Italy reaches the same level of audience as Sanremo it will be a miracle for RAI, and having Måneskin… Read more »

We’re very much in agreement. And for all the focus on the success of Beggin’ in the US, IWBYS has gone gold here as well. That Måneskin don’t play it more often may have more to do with the song’s risqué (for America) content than their own preferences. And anyone who thinks Italian songs are getting played on American TV misunderstands how the entertainment industry works here. BTS can’t even get their Korean songs to succeed as their English songs have. The industry here is actively hostile to foreign languages. I would love to be proved wrong at SNL, however!… Read more »

They will surely bring a new song in Sanremo the 1st of february. For the ESC, they will be obliged to do Z and B at the opening of the first semifinal. But I am sure they will bring something new in the final. As I wrote before, most of the angry fans who are not happy about Italy winning and not their country, they repeat this boring Beggin’ thing in order to criticize them. At the beginning they started with the “snorting drugs in a live show in front of 25 live cameras, the cameras of all the fans,… Read more »

Thankfully, they’ve already written a song for such envy:

Puoi darmi del pazzo, bastardo, malato
Io ci brinderò sopra col vino
Sì, brinderò a te, la la la
Sì, brinderò a te
Perché so che anche se mi hai odiato
Canterai il mio nome

Yeah, knowing well the USA, I am sure the fact they use very much the F word and have reference to sex, such as “spit all your love on me”, I wanna fuuu till you scream and cry” or “drink your rain”. Etc. That’s why they don’t sing these songs on live american TV. Americans got mad when Damiano wore a singlet at the Voice USA as if he was showing his peewee.

I don’t think that was the only issue with the outfit. Americans are used to half naked performers. It just looked really bad and out of place because their outfits weren’t coordinated at all. I took issue with it as well but not because it was scandalous and too revealing. It just looked like the band got ready to perform and the lead singer just stumbled on stage by accident. If it was at least sequined maybe it wouldn’t have been so distracting… I still don’t understand how that happened because that’s the only time I’ve seen them in stage… Read more »

Another thing – I think the song title itself is in poor taste knowing the world history (and sadly even the present for some people)… The slave-master analogy is awful. That’s the reason I could never listen to it. They should have just gone with servant, boy toy, play thing or something else.
