Moldova Natalia Gordienko First Rehearsal Eurovision 2021

What are your Saturday plans? Some spring cleaning? A movie? Coffee with friends? Well, whatever they are, scrap them and brace yourself for three hours of musical madness. After a year off, Moldova’s infamous live auditions are back for Eurovision 2022.

And, unlike previous occasions when the auditions were used to select the national finalists, this time the tryouts will determine who goes on to represent Moldova in Turin. There will not be a standalone national final.

Moldova’s Eurovision 2022 representative will be chosen during the live auditions

Originally the plan had been to assess whether there were enough quality acts to justify holding a national final at a later stage. However, that has been scrapped. In a statment, TRM says “the Organizing Committee notes the impossibility of organizing and broadcasting the final stages televised in connection with the epidemiological situation in the country and the significant increase, lately, in the number of COVID-19 infections.”

Here’s when and how you can watch the live auditions for Moldova’s Selecţia Naţională 2022.

Time: 13:00 CET to 16:00 CET

The Eurovision tryouts will be streamed live on Moldova 2, with a simulcast running on the TRM website. It will be available to watch worldwide. You can watch in the player embedded below, or click the link.

How Moldova’s live Eurovision auditions will work

A total of 28 acts will perform over the course of the three hour period. There are 29 entries remaining in the process, with regular audtionee Sasha Bognibov bringing two songs. Other familiar national final names include LEMONIQUE, Maxim Zavidia and Dianna Rotaru. The mysterious Misscatylove and her bonkers “Intro” left the competition shortly after the longlist was published earlier this week.

  • Ana Cernicova – “Silent Battlefield”
  • Angel Kiss – “The Sunshine in Me”
  • Annet Smirnova – “Toxic Eyes”
  • Carolina Gorun & Danieli Shvets – “Take Me Anywhere”
  • Denis Midone – “Run Away”
  • Diana Elmas – “Spirit High”
  • Dianna Rotaru – “My Time is Now”
  • Emilia Vlas – “Yama”
  • Ferum – “Love Is”
  • Katy Rain – “Lele”
  • LEMONIQUE – “Boys”
  • Lanjeron – “Magic Carpet”
  • Marcela Scripcaru – “Starlight”
  • Maxim Zavidia – “READY”
  • Mihaela Andrei – “Libre”
  • Misscatylove – “Intro”
  • Naminal – “Stop Tonight”
  • Pelageya Stefoglo – “I’m The Only One”
  • Ricky Ardezianu – “Cherche La Femme”
  • SENDREI – “Beginner’s Luck”
  • Sasha Bognibov – “(I Just Had) Sex with Your Ex”
  • Sasha Bognibov – “My Friend is Gay”
  • The Tramps – “Sky Blues”
  • Trio EVA – “Get A Kiss”
  • Tudor Bumbac – “larta-ma ca te iubesc”
  • Valeria Barbas – “My Tree”
  • Viola Julea – “Before (Twin Flame)”
  • Viorela Moraru – “Tell Me That You Love Me”
  • Y-LIMIT – “Nothing More”
  • Zdob şi Zdub & Fraţii Advahov – “Trenuleţul”

Listen to the 29 entries on the eurovision.md portal.

Once the auditions have wrapped, the powers that be will determine the winner of the auditions and who will represent Moldova at Eurovision 2022. The final decision will be announced during the evening news at 18:00 CET.

Are you excited for the auditions? Will you watch the whole show? Let us know in the comments.

if uniqueness counts most, the winner must be lele!
if big name counts more, the winner will be zdob si zdub.
as big zdob si zdub fan i choose in this case the uniqueness.

we still waiting for an ethno song with the class of shum and here we have a (rare) match!

scrapping my non-existent plans tomorrow for this collapse ! this is clearly an internal selection for zdob si zdub (which would be a very good choice for moldova imo), so i’m glad they’ll announce it only two hours after the auditions have wrapped up.

Or it could be Lele, Which I think is the best song out of this selection. We’ll have to see tomorrow.

it depends on how many coins the good sis katy lele has. i know for sure zdob si zdub can fund their own participation, you know that’s trm’s priority.

That is a good point. I didn’t consider that.

The songs are that bad that holding televised event would be just a waste of money, then the winning act has to pay for everything in Turin? These “we don’t have any money” broadcasters are just playgrounds for wealthy people such as Kirkov. Ew!

It’s going to be an uphill battle for Moldova to make it out of the semifinal no matter who they end up picking. If it were up to me, I’d probably choose “Lele”. The chorus is alright and the fact that it’s in Moldovan/Romanian is a plus. That said, the song does seem longer than three minutes.

They should just choose Misscatylove after those auditions anyways.

Now that the auditioning artists have to fight for not a place in the national final, but the chance to represent Moldova itself, I hope every artist puts out the best performances they can in the audition round tomorrow. Personally, I hope Lele Is the one that gets to represent Moldova. Romania was foolish to pass this song up, but it’s their loss.

Romania passing on Lele, while greenlighting songs like 241, Younique, Hai afara frate, and Find Your Way is truly one of the world’s mysteries.

In this case, they’re making the right call. There aren’t enough entries here to make one solid NF. It’s better to pick a song, and then to work on its presentation. Everyone knows that stagings are Moldova’s forte. Given these options, I’d probably go for Yama, Starlight, Lele or Beginner’s Luck. I wouldn’t go with S.B.’s two songs if they were the last piece of music on Earth. I will be watching the auditions. Good luck, Moldova!

Guys, we are getting TWO more entries tomorrow – Moldova and Spain! I’m hyped! 🙂

Thanks for commenting that. If you hadn’t I never would have listened to Yama. I wasn’t into Lele, Starlight or Beginner’s luck but I loved Yama! Well I loved Emilia Rusu’s voice. The song is pretty but quite dated. However her voice is just incredible. Goosebumps! And if there’s a country that knows how to elevate a song with some eye catching staging it’s Moldova!
I wish Jelena Tomasevic was competing for Serbia with something similar. Or anything at all for that matter. The ethnic styling in Emilia’s voice reminded me of her in some parts.

I’m glad I helped. It’s a really lovely song, and I’d be happy if Emilia wins tomorrow. Update: I just read that the song is in Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language. Emilia says that she was always in love with that culture, and that this is a spiritual song. The more I read, the more I want this to win, actually.

I thought we were getting one entry tomorrow, but it’s going to be two. It’s been about a month since we’ve last had a song selected or released, so now the roster will increase. Yes we’ve had Lithuania and Norway air their national finals weekly, but they haven’t reached There are grand finale dates yet. February and March is going to be busy

I love national finals, but it’s here I set my limit. 😀 Anyway, here hoping Moldova makes a good choice. I was listening to “Lele” yesterday and wondering why Romania rejected it when they selected at least 20 worse songs to their 2nd round.

I hope Lele is chosen tomorrow. I think it is the best song Choice for Moldova. I can’t believe Romania passed it up, but their loss.

I only listened to 3 or 4 of then (RIP Intro), so I can’t opinate, but “Lele” sounds like one of those songs Moldova can make work with their out of the box staging skills (though I missed their charm last year, Natalia’s staging was not nearly as crazy I was expecting it to be). Like Colin pointed, it’s indeed a mystery how Romania hasn’t (not-so-)shortlisted it. Someone in TVR must hate Katy Rain.

So they’re just gonna perform their songs with 0 staging and one of them will be chosen? Mess.

Well then, everyone has to give out their best vocal performances of their lives in tomorrow’s auditions. I hope they are informed about the change of plans to directly select one person from the auditions to represent Moldova instead of several artists for a national final. They’ve only got one shot now, so they better give a 110% effort.
