EMA FRES 2022 WINNERS

It started with a month of daily online duels back in December. And on Friday, EMA Freš 2022 — Slovenia’s premliminary stage for up-and-coming performers — came to a close. The 14 remaning newcomers were whittled down to just four, with LUMA, Stela Sofia, LPS and Leya Leanne qualifying for the EMA 2022 semi-finals. They will join 16 previously announced automatic qualifiers.

EMA Freš 2022 Qualifiers

Two of the four were chosen by viewers, while the other two were selected by an expert panel comprising of Maja Keuc – Amaya (Eurovision 2011), Maša Kljun and Matjaž Vlašič. While we know the winners, we don’t know which acts were picked by the public and which two by the jury. RTVSLO also hasn’t published the final EMA Freš scoreboard.

You can listen to the four qualifying entries below. The first semi final takes place next Saturday on 5 February. The second semi will follow one week later on 12 February. Two Freš acts will compete in each semi, although it has yet to be confirmed who will perform when.

LUMA – “All In”

Stela Sofia – “Tu in zdaj”

LPS – “Disko”

Leya Leanne – “Naked”

What do you think of the EMA Freš results? Did the right four make it? Let us know below.

Wow! EMA fres had a better batch than EMA itself. LUMA is the best choice for Slovenia this year! 🙂

LUMA I thought was good – amazing dark instrumentation. Staging was interesting but I can’t decide if in a good way (a bit creepy tbh)
I really liked LPS! May not be the best fit for Eurovision, but they are immensely talented and the song is a bop.

I think they both could do well at EMA

I really can’t decide between July, Mia, LUMA and LPS. They are all pretty good.

I was watching the qualifiers last night and I really liked LUMA. Cool song, good vocals and the teasing way they staged it certainly grabbed my attention.

LPS has a wedding reception band vibe, but in a positive Lake Malawi way. If the more established names in EMA fail to deliver, I at least will have these newcomers to root for.

LUMA was by far the best, the other 3 pass. Deadly Flower was also nice, but didn´t qualify.

I’m obsessed with LUMA’s song. The staging is captivating, a really solid choice for Slovenia!

LUMA is really captivating, staging that tells us the story and is striking. But for me the best thing is the deep instrumental – I LOVE it so much! Been listening to it on repeat since yesterday! I don’t know how it would do in Eurovision but it would be a risk that could pay off.

I can’t say I’m impressed by anything on here, but I find Luma’s performance great. The song isn’t as good, tho, but it’s not bad by any means, so it’s gonna be elevated by the show. Rooting for her.

LUMA’s performance was so intense that it actually intimidated me into loving it, lmao. The song’s good too, so I hope they do well moving forward. I also like Disko (and another song that didn’t qualify, but 2/3 isn’t bad!)
