Oda Gondrosen "Hammer of Thor" MGP 2022

First she stole the thunder, now she’s stealing our readers’ hearts. Ahead of the next heat of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2022, we asked our readers to vote for who their favourite act to win semi-final three. And with Mjölnir at her side, Oda Gondrosen came out on top.

Scroll down for full poll results.

Norway: Oda Gondrosen should win MGP 2022 semi-final three

Oda Gondrosen, 25, is bringing Norse mythology to the MGP stage with “Hammer of Thor”. In 2020, she finished as second alternate on Idol — behind eventual winner and fellow MGP semi-finalist Mari Bølla — and launched herself into stardom. In our poll, Oda picked up a grand total of 356 votes — that’s 33.84% of all votes cast.

A close runner-up in our poll is Vilde with “Titans”. The Tjøme-born singer-songwriter graduated with a music degree from the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and later she moved to Oslo to pursue a music career. In our poll, Vilde received 310 votes — 29.47% of the total vote.

Our readers awarded the bronze medal to Mari Bølla with “Your Loss”. The youngest Norwegian Idol winner in history (15 at the time of her victory, now 17) is serving a pop-punk power anthem about self-love and knowing your own worth. Mari Bølla picked up 263 votes in our poll — that’s 25% of the total vote.

Pulling up the rear in fourth is Sturla with “Skår i hjerte”. A smelter by day, Sturla burst onto the music scene in 2020, making it onto the A-list at NRK P1 and received nationwide airplay. Now, he’s bidding for the big leagues at Eurovision with a self-penned track. Sturla received 123 votes in our poll — 11.69% of all votes cast.

Though Oda Gondrosen stole the thunder with our readers, her path to the MGP final mightn’t be quite so simple as a four horse race. She’ll have to work her way through two duels before winning the golden ticket.

The winner of each duel will progress to the gold duel, where they will battle it out for a spot in the MGP grand final.

Oda was my favourite from the getgo and that amazing performance reinforced my love of the song, wow what a performance!!

To Marie’s credit I like her song and her performance was also fantastic! It’s a shame one has to lose because that was a strong dual.

I voted for Hammer of Thor but dang, Mari Bølla totally slays in the studio version. Your loss might be my favorite

This would be a good choice for Norway.

Quite bland to my ears. Norwegian offerings this year mostly suffer from this issue, tho, so I’m not against the decision. It’s not the worst one, as far as I’m concerned.

Worst of them all, I can’t even remember when I heard such crap.

The bookies favourite seems to be Mari but I have a feeling she won’t win. I think this heat is the most unpredictable yet. The live performances will play a tremendous role which means that Hammer of Thor may in the end be today’s winner.

Personally, i’m not a fan of Hammer of Thor, it’s repetitive, the lyrics seem a bit cringy and I prefer other songs in this semi.

I think the staging will be quite interesting for this semi. I think both hammer of Thor and Titans suggest something epic visually, Your loss I think will rely on Mari Bolla’s charisma and stage presence, it could be a really fun spectacle to watch. Sturla’s song feels like it’ll be quite intimate.

Shouldn’t the smelter have the hammer of Thor? Looking forward to the staging of these 4 to make final decision—I think that will be the deciding factor.
