“Ovunque sarai” is Irama‘s entry for Sanremo 2022. Last year the singer could only perform at the festival via a rehearsal video. That was down to a member of his staff testing positive for Covid. Now Irama returns to take revenge.

Sanremo 2022: Irama “Ovunque sarai”
Filippo Maria Fanti, aka Irama, rose to fame on the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi, which he won in 2018.
He has already participated in Sanremo three times — the last being in 2021 with “La genesi del tuo colore”, which ranked fifth and became one of the most appreciated songs by Eurovision fans during the entire national finals season.
His music blends different genres and influences, ranging from pop and Italian songwriting to hip hop and reggaeton. Irama’s stage name, an anagram of his middle name, Maria, actually means “rhythm” in the Malay language.
What do the “Ovunque sarai” lyrics mean?
“Ovunque sarai” (Wherever you are) is an orchestral ballad with a crescendo that plays on the power of Irama’s voice. The lyrics are essential, without poetic superstructures. In the delicate images, we can sense that the artist is singing about an absence, the loss of a person in whose name he will continue to live.
Whether it is love as it is traditionally understood or any other form of love, the song is a promise to belong to each other forever, to be there in any event, in many other forms, even in the distance imposed.
Because the people who have left their mark on our lives never leave us: they remain in our gestures, in the nature we continue to inhabit, in the silences that accompany us, in the feelings that never die out.

This song make me cry.
Go to Eurovision, Irama. ??
Sorry this is 100 times better than Mahmood and blanco. The video in this is also so beautiful. His voice is just piercing. Love love love this.
Anyone knows when France, Belgium & Switzerland are going to reveal their songs?
When is it taking place then…? eurovisonworld.com doesn’t list the French NF on their calendar, though…
They are still having Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez!, they just haven’t confirmed a date for it yet. Switzerland originally said that they were gonna reveal their artist in December but that obviously didn’t happen. I don’t think anyone knows when Belgium will release their song
fun fact did you know he is transphobic?
Really?
Lmaoooo he said “Fare a pugni con quel tram”
and a trans woman said in public that she is disgusted that he said ‘Voglio fare a pugni con quel trans” = Hit a trans woman
He is Tramophobic not transophobic
Thank you so much for these articles, Cristian! Sanremo is a paradise for people that like good lyrics. With rare exceptions, songs competing there tend to be very well written and emotional.
