We are just days away from the first heat of Melodifestivalen 2022 and things are starting to get exciting. Who will be crowned the winner on March 12th and receive the right to represent Sweden at Eurovision this year?

While the preparations are running at full speed in Stockholm, we can already announce the first result: out of all participants this year, our readers voted Omar Rudberg as their most anticipated act.

Omar Rudberg is the Melodifestivalen 2022 act you are most excited for

Now, this choice shouldn’t be a surprise. Omar Rudberg has participated at Melodifestivalen twice already. He made his debut alongside Felix Sandman and Oscar Enestad as the boyband FO&O, making the final in 2017 through andra chansen.

Omar’s solo debut in 2019 wasn’t as successful. His entry “Om om och om igen” failed to advance out of the semi-final.

Since then, a lot has happened in Omar’s career. Switching from music to acting, he played one of the leading roles in the Netflix show Young Royals. The success brought him heaps of new fans and his Instagram channel currently counts 1.3 million followers. Allegedly, SVT was very keen to get him on board for this year’s Melfest.

With 932 votes out of a total of 4,663, Omar won this Melodifestivalen 2022 poll comfortably. For friends of percentages: that makes a 19.99% share of the vote.

In second place we see another familiar face in Anna Bergendahl. Her record at Melodifestivalen is impressive, winning at her debut in 2010 and subsequently reaching the final a decade later in 2019 and 2020. She picked up 685 (14.69%) of all votes, indicating the expectations for another great performance.

Klara Hammarström finishes in third place with 512 votes, or 10.98%. Her third participation in a row seems to excite a lot of people. After failing to qualify in 2020, she managed to finish sixth in the final in 2021 with a detour via andra chansen. It will be interesting to see if she can surpass her 2021 result this year!

Returning artists obviously have it easier to finish on top of our poll. Past Melfest winners Robin Bengtsson and John Lundvik finish fourth and sixth respectively.

But it may be interesting to see which debutant received the most votes. With 104 votes (2.23%), this is Cazzi Opeia in 11th place. Is this an indicator that she will leave her mark on the stage?

If Young Royals had not existed, he would never have been number one here

Ugh I am so tired of Anna Bergendahl. I never like her songs and need I remind you, she’s the only Swedish act to not qualify.

The only act SO FAR. Just because she didnt qualify does not mean it will happen again.

It’s unfair, maybe her entry wasn’t as impactful, but she didn’t deserve not to qualify. On the other hand, many of the recent acts haven’t deserved to qualify, and still they did :/

No snippets, no rehearsal videos and the show starts in two days! What’s going on?

Snippets will be at 20:00CET, but you can hear short fragments of each song on the panel of Tornbjorn Skorup at SVTplay.

I don’t get why they release it as late as Thursday evening this year – I mean, usually snippets used to be out at Wednesdays, and by Thursay evenings we already had fragments of performances
