Ukraine will select its Eurovision 2022 act via a reformed Vidbir created by the country’s public broadcaster Suspilne and the external production company Friends Pro TV. In a press release, Suspilne has announced that Eurovision 2006 singer Tina Karol will be one of the judges on the show.

During an earlier press conference to reveal the eight participating acts, the organisers revealed that they had yet to form a jury.

From the stage design, Suspilne hinted that there will be three jurors as the design shows a desk with three chairs. In essence, they will copy the earlier Vidbir format as STB and Suspilne also made use of three jurors there. In the old format, the judging heavily mirrored the local adaption of X Factor – produced by STB. This included the jury giving comments to the acts after each performance.

Tina Karol to judge at Vidbir 2022

Suspilne announced that Tina Karol will be one of the judges in the selection. The Eurovision 2006 alumna has grown to be one of the most popular artists in Ukraine with millions of followers on social media. As a result, in 2017, she received the honourary title of “People’s Artist of Ukraine”. In 2020, she was one of the three Vidbir judges alongside Andriy Danylko and Vitaliy Drozdov.

Last year, she was not part of the judging panel to pick Go_A’s Eurovision 2021 song. Nevertheless, in an interview with Russell Blog, she stated that she would have liked to be involved.

The broadcaster wrote in a press release that the other judges will be announced in the coming days. The organisers have yet to reveal the way they will select the act.

Are you happy that Tina Karol is part of the Vidbir 2022 judging panel? Who would you like to see alongside her? Let us know in the comments down below!

I’ve liked a few of Michael Soul’s songs before but his offering this year is a bit of a let down. Will it be an advantage or disadvantage that his former coach from The Voice is now a judge?

Wellboy is Tina’s protege this year, don’t think she will help Michael, but I’m glad he is in lineup

Unfortunately, I don’t think Tina can save the train wreck of songs Ukraine has this year. So sad! I don’t think they will qualify this year. And the streak ends.

Yes yes, are you one of those experts that declared that Go_A are the same as Tulia and therefore will fail to qualify to the final? Go F yourself.

Wow wow Alina this is… wow. Best song so far. There are good songs this year in Vidbir but if she is good live and of course the staging I think this song is Vidbir winner, potentialy even for Eurovision

I love Ukraine. But I disagree. These songs are not appealing to the ear and the wider audience. I think Poland’s song “River” has a great chance, if selected that is.

I disagree strongly. I think this Alina song could be at least top10 if not top5. Of course it depends on how good other songs are. River song is also very good, Ochman is very good live and that song also has potential but based purely on studio versions of these songs, for me, Shadows > River
