Brooke That's Rich Ireland Eurovision 2022

We are just hours away from the first Irish national final in seven years. But before we discover who the people of Ireland along with a national and international jury want to send to Eurovision 2022, let’s find out our readers’ choice.

Brooke is your favourite to win Ireland’s Eurosong 2022 with “That’s Rich”

After counting a total of 3,505 votes, we can reveal that Brooke is your runaway favourite to secure victory on The Late Late Show. The “That’s Rich” popstar picked up 1,568 votes or 44.74% of all votes cast. The Wiwi Jury were in agreement, also placing the Derry girl first in their rankings. Here’s what Padraig said:

““That’s Rich” is the only one of the six that feels current. The punk-pop vibes with the cool electro aesthetic are very now, and the track actually sounds like something you might hear on a mainstream pop radio station. None of the other entries come close. Staging will be key to how the song would perform at Eurovision, although we know from The Voice that Brooke has no shortage of charisma and talent. And, regardless of performance, this would most certainly become a dancefloor staple at Euroclub”.

He sings “One Night, One Kiss, One Promise”, but Patrick O’Sullivan will have to settle for the number two spot with our readers. The musical theatre performer managed to get 593 votes or 16.92% of all votes cast. The Wiwi Jury also awarded him silver. Here are Robyn’s thoughts on the entry:

“For all the 80s-inspired synth-pop that’s doing the rounds at the moment, this is the one that reminds me of the sort of music that was actually coming out in the 80s. It sounds like it could be the soaring love theme from a 1986 romantic comedy. But that could be its weakest point – it risks sounding like music that should be playing underneath while something more interesting happens. The live performance could overcome this. If Patrick can be the leading man, the song stands a good chance of serving an uplifting emotional impact”.

She’s preaching self love, and our readers are sharing some love too. Rachel Goode rounds out the top three, scoring 443 votes or 12.64% of all the votes cast. “I’m Loving Me” also came third with the Wiwi Jury, winning praise for its synth-pop sound and Rachel’s vocals.

Poll results: Who should win Ireland’s Eurosong 2022?

  1. Brooke “That’s Rich” 1,568 votes 44.74%
  2. Patrick O’Sullivan “One Night, One Kiss, One Promise” 593 votes 16.92%
  3. Rachel Goode “I’m Loving Me” 443 votes 12.64%
  4. Janet Grogan “Ashes of Yesterday” 345 votes 9.84%
  5. Miles Graham “Yeah We’re Gonna Get Out Of It” 279 votes 7.96%
  6. Brendan Murray “Real Love” 277 votes 7.90%

3,505 total votes

I think her performance was a huge letdown. It felt flat and cheap. But on the positive side: there’s still plenty of time for her to up her game. And I still believe her song has the potential to be a massive banger in May.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s cheap, but negativity gets down voted by all the snowflakes here.

She’s like some slapper you’d see in Iceland (the store not the country) with kids by multiple fathers and still in her dressing gown, she make Sarah McTeirnan look sophisticated and that’s no mean feat. You can forget about the final. **** this for a crock of ****

Congrats, Brooke! She had a really cute performance. I’m happy that the fan favorite won on this occasion.

It seems the motive for this season is that my favorites only win when I’m not crazy about them. But songwise it was the best choice for Ireland, I’m sure. Hope they upload the performance someday, because I managed to lost even the recaps.

That’s Rich and Yeah, We’re Gonna Get Out of It had more dynamism staging-wise. Overall, objectively, the differences between the songs + performances aren’t as big to be sure who’ll win.

Miles Graham did come across better than I was expecting, it’s completely different, I’d go with it and to hell with them if they don’t like it.

I would actually be totally cool with that. There’s almost a 100% guarantee that no song on ESC would sound or look like that. Probably the best way to stand out, and since Miles did well on stage, it would have some charm to it.

Perfect from Brooke. Here is my personal ranking from tonight:
1. Brooke
2. Miles Graham
3. Patrick O’Sullivan
Tied 4th: Rachel and Brendan
6. Janet Grogan

I agree that Brooke and Miles felt like they had their staging concepts more elaborated. Also, I agree that Ashes of Yesterday felt like the flattest one on stage (even if Janet did great vocally).

Ooo the audience reacted very well to Miles Graham; that might be a sign. I enjoyed the performance as well. The singer was so chilled out and the dancing was a clever bit of staging. Bravo; that was a pleasant surprise.

Miles really felt relaxed, and the song was staged well.

Honestly out of the first three I would probably send Patrick. Three more to come though.
Also, is Ireland the only National Final to have a giveaway quiz? 😀

I tried to watch it, but the player doesn’t allow me to go back and Sanremo is taking all my attention. Hopefully they’ll upload the videos quickly.

Today, I’m with Ireland. Yey, I understand everything. 🙂

Patrick’s song was kinda cheesy in delivery, while Janet’s was a bit static. However, I am impressed with their vocal skills.

Speaking of vocal skills, Brendan was amazing. Camera work should have been tad more focused, but he did well.

Juries are, per Irish and British tradition, 100% supportive. It has its perks and faults. It feels relaxing and friendly to the performers then and there, but it doesn’t prepare them to what to work on if they win.

I just wish Brendan would open his eyes and look at the camera a bit more; that’s all. Also… a big moon in the background? Hmmm

I agree. A personal, low-key song like that needs as much of an eye contact as possible. Vocally, all three were very good.

Thats rich may be the best out of the banch but it still sounds like an entry that will end up last in the semi, and it will happen.
Ireland must step their game up, the most uninteresting country in Eurovision right now after so many victories.

It may well win tonight but I can see it struggling to get out of the semi finals in Turin. For a start she needs a new stylist, she comes across as really cheap and that “official” video on Youtube looks like something she made herself in her bedroom, it’s beyond bad. All I can hear is someone that listened to Destiny from Malta last year and thought “I can do better”.

I actually cringe when I hear people saying that this is good.

Ah Séamus Mór, wait for the official music video, then you’ll have big hopes! Ní neart go cur le chéile, Séamus! She has months to get a new stylist. Obviously she won’t be singing in the late late studio when she’s in Turin. Also, I doubt this will finish last, considering it’s in the second half of the semi final (if she’s chosen). You never know!

Tá súil agam go bhfuil an ceart agat Aisling but on the LLS anything is possible given it’s record with poor studio sound I’ve heard the best of them coming across really bad, we’ll have to wait and see. Let’s just hope Johnny Logan isn’t trotted out yet again to do his old “I brought my harp to the party but no one asked me to play” routine. Enjoy!

Yes, that video is just something she threw together at the last moment as a promo for Eurosong on a very low budget. If she were to get to Turin, a proper music video would be made.

I’d go for Brendan or Brooke. Nothing feels like a shoe-in top ten placement. Far off. Still, both Brendan and Brooke could, with the help of a good staging, get people to pay attention. The issue with Real Love is that it never really takes off, and remains within the similar velocity throughout. However, if he would look like he really feels these emotions, and the staging would be visually distinctive, but intimate, it could work. That’s Rich’s chorus can get repetitive, but with the right sass and vocals, and connection to the audiences, Brooke could work through that. One… Read more »

Ireland’s goal can only be to make the top 10 in their semi! I am glad that I’m not the only one who likes Brendan though. Maybe the song takes off a little bit with the live performance. 🙂

I agree. I know that ultimately, everyone should be aiming for the big win, but this time I feel like they should put all their resources into great staging, and make sure that the winning singer sounds both in tune and in-sync with their emotions. Being 10th in the semi, and 25th in the finals may not seem grand, but it would still be a big improvement from their recent results. I like Brendan and Brooke, so I feel like they’d be the closest ones to achieving that goal.

Interesting from Brooke – the corner of the Late Late Show studio is unsurprisingly constraining her performance.

Much smaller countries do so much better. There are plenty of people in Ireland who would love a decent national selection, but RTÉ seem doggedly unwilling to prioritise it.

It should be added though that Brooke did a trial run on the Eurosong stage about 12 days ago and has had plenty of time to prepare and adapt her NF performance accordingly – that’s how she knew it was a 6m x 4m stage.

You have to check the odds again! Italy is now first with 15% chance to win according to bookies. Also, I love Ochman’s song and the video too. How do you like it?

This site starts to be quite annoying putting some Countries over other. Like are we really only living in a World of Spain, Sweden and Italy? Gets boring. Ps. Yes Ochman song and video is very good.

It definitely looks like some countries have to make so many extra efforts to even get to the final, while some of them (Sweden) get by so easily and are always favored by bookies and juries. I’m not saying Sweden does not deserve all that they did for ESC, but I cannot hide a feeling they are being pushed over and over again. I’ll take a few countries from 2021 as an example! Croatia Australia Poland Latvia Ireland Czech Republic All these countries did not qualify for the finals in 2021. Had any of the songs from above countries represented… Read more »
