North Macedonia have made their decision. After a night of music in their selection show Za Evrosong 2022, Andrea emerged as the winner. She will represent the country at Eurovision 2022 with the song “Circles”.
The selection saw the six competing acts present their songs. A 50/50 jury and public vote decided the result.
After both Andrea and Viktor received the joint highest score, a tie-break was used to declare the winner. Since Andrea received more points from the jury, she was announced as the winner of Za Evrosong 2022.

North Macedonia proving that the Benidorm fiasco, which includes politicians talking about it in Congress and Senate, is and probably will be the most pathetic tantrum of the season.
revamp will obviously do this song rly well if they do it right… make the drums bigger… could end up sounding like an EDEN/Eden Project song (which i guess is where the name is from lol) which could do rly well but at the moment its just not very impactful at all

It’s not a really “ofgensive” song itself. But is sounds like something that came from the last decade and thus dated, while it fails to get you involved by any means. I ll be waiting for the revamp to judge it better but as for now it sounds like a certain NQ for me. Superman would be also a NQ as there is no song there but at least would be something amusing for the semifinal.

What a year… Bulgaria, N.Macedonia, Moldova and Ireland are all bad or average at the best. None of them has the level to make a Eurovision final if you ask me.
On the other hand I find Albania, Czech Republic and Spain better than last year.

Lots of people are reporting that the voting system was hacked/rigged as people were able to vote multiple times for the same singer, which explains why a trashy and cheesy song like Superman was able to get #1 in online voting, and it also explains why Lara got last place in online voting even though her video was the one with most views and most likes…. I just think this is too much… Every single national final this year gave more power to the jury than to the public. Will public start to loose interest in their own songs and candidates since their voice has been constatly pushed down by the jury? Will EBU make new rules? Cause Eurovision was meant for the public not for the same Jury that keeps poping up in every other selection and changing the result PEOPLE WANTED heavily (looking at you HoD of Iceland, which will probably be a jury in Melfest too). To be fair, ever since the introduction of the jury as it stands today in Eurovision, we haven’t had a single joke entry compete (at least to the degree of what those were back in the late 2000’s). The juries are great to break away regional fandom voting, which in most cases does not translate at all to the actual show. I mean, just look at Czech in 2020 when Benny Cristo only won because he was the one with the strongest fanbase in the line up, yet the majority of Czech people seem to dread the goddamn song lol.
Was it a bad song? No, the people still choose a good song. I’m not saying that the juries are not needed, but giving them this much power over the whole nation is something to be thought about. That said th jury should exist so we don’t have that big amount of joke entries but still they (the joke entries) will pop up in every edition of the contest nevertheless, but the public should have an equal decision in the NFs and in the matter of ties it should outweight the jury vote, something that neither Lithuania does nor Macedonia… Read more »

I’m happy that Circles won, for me it was the strongest song of the selection by a mile! It’s far too early to say how it’ll do in Turin, but I’m excited to see what they do with the song on stage. I’d also go as far to say it’s my favourite entry from North Macedonia in recent years! Good luck!

In my opinion, this was the best song in their selection. Andrea’s voice is interesting and the whole thing sounds very personal to her. I’m just afraid this is a song with very low televote potential, so she’ll need to bring the juries to her side.
It’s not a terrible song but safe to say it’s an instant non qualification.
You can hardly call this “bad”, cause it isn’t. But I have my doubts about her chances at Eurovision. Never the less, i wish her all the best.

Strange way to choose the song for Eurovision. No live performance, only audio studio versions. How could jury and audience evaluate it in the context of live performance on Eurovision? In my opinion, even if the song is good, it’s total unreliable choice.
I guess Macedonians are mad and will start complaining because the winner only rank 3rd in the televote. Oh, wait! That’s only salty fellow Spaniards, okeeeey.
It’s not a good look for North Macedonia either to have a representative which got only one-third of the votes of the public’s favorite – it wasn’t even close!
I’m glad the balding Superman didn’t win. That song felt like a cheap Gangnam Style ripoff. Andrea’s song was definitely the best of the (weak) bunch.

The funny thing is, this is the type of song from Eastern Europe that would end up getting played on radio stations in my country and be heard ad infinitum during children’s birthday parties I kid you not. Hehe

Lara’s song was the only one I would have been able to tolerate and she wasnt even top 3.
I mean given that Vasil was a hopeless case, this is actually a big step up again in that it is not hopeless.
This is a song only a jury can save. No way televoters would be into this. But Semi 2 is such an open semi without most of the powerhouses. And the second half of that semi is an anything-can-happen situation where only Sweden has been a consistent qualifier. I’m thinking there will be lots of ballads with Belgium, Montenegro, N Macedonia. Seems the Polish front runner is a ballad too.
I mean even in a weak semi final this is not a song I could imagine fighting for that 8th-12th place but more something that would struggle getting higher than 15th-18th
Happy she’s won, but puzzled about Lara’s score. Superman would be fun for a minute, but on the ESC stage, the fun would quickly wear off. Rooting for Andrea!
Eurovision needs to be worried about all these juries overriding the public vote. I think they run the risk of forgetting who the contest is for…and ending up with a boring contest that no-one watches.

Hehehe, rules of Za Evrosong stated that songs submitted should be final entries. So, I expect minor or no final changes to this version.
My picks were between Viktor, Kaly or Jon Idy. Any of those three feel more Macedonian to my ears.
