Ten acts will take to the EMA 2022 stage for semi-final one on Saturday 5 February. Six will make it through to the grand final in two week’s time.

Previously, we asked you to vote for your favourites and shoutout who you think should take those six qualification spots.

In the end, 1,465 votes were cast. Now it’s time to reveal the result.

Note that this poll was largely done based on 30-second clips of the songs (except for the two acts who progressed through EMA Freš – the search for unknown artists). Opinions may very well change once we hear the full songs performed live.

July Jones and LUMA are favourites to win semi-final one of EMA 2022

There were two acts who stood out the most for y’all. The one that just squeaked into first place is July Jones. Her song “Girls Can Do Anything” earned 377 votes, which is 25.73% of all votes cast. Whilst we may only have heard a short snippet of her song, it was enough to intrigue many of our voters. July proudly declares she can do anything and this may very well include qualifying from EMA 2022 semi-final one.

LUMA are the second act that y’all are tipping for qualification. Coming in a very close second place, the duo picked up 352 votes (24.03%) for their entry “All In” – our readers certainly seem all in on their entry. LUMA are one of the up-and-coming acts who won EMA Freš. Although they now have more established artists to compete against, it looks like they could be able to hold their own weight in amongst them.

Together, July Jones and LUMA secured a whopping 49.76% of the votes in this poll. They’re certainly highly favoured to make it through the semi-final.

If it was up to you, the other four qualifiers would be Bowrain & Brina, Le Serpentine, Jonatan Haller and Stela Sofia. Stela Sofia is the other act to have progressed through EMA Freš.

That would then mean we’d have to say goodbye to Zala Smolnikar, Batista Cadillac, Manouche and David Amaro. But could the full-versions of their songs give them a lifeline? We don’t have long to wait and see.

Poll results: Who should qualify from EMA 2022 semi-final one?

EMA 2022: Show details

Each semi-final will feature eight pre-qualified acts alongside two EMA FREŠ qualifiers. There will be six qualifiers on both nights, with the public televote selecting three and an expert jury choosing another three, resulting in a 12 song final. The overall winner will be determined by a 50/50 split between the public and a jury made up of five different panels.

The grand final is set for Saturday 19 February, where Slovenia will choose their act for Eurovision 2022.

Very happy for LUMA, but Jonatan Haller was robbed.

No way David Amaro is gonna eliminate, he is such a popular artist in Slovenia that fans might vote him to Turin, as well…

As soon as I saw July Jones’ style, I felt it was extremely similar to Grimes. Then I heard the track and her music sounds like Grimes too, very ‘Medieval Warfare’. I still like her but for me, LUMA are a MUCH better choice. They have something far more unique – sensual and sexy (the guy and girl look gorgeous together), weirdly quirky (in the best way) and hypnotically minimalist rhythms. It’s a duet unlike anything we’ve seen in the competition before, except maybe Slovenia’s previous entry, ‘Sebi’, but this feels more dark and quirky, rather than the melancholy romance… Read more »

July Jones’ track is fine sonically, I quite like it. But I can’t help but cringe listening to it, because of the lyrics. They spoil the overall good song for me. Anybody else feels this way?
