Sanremo 2022 continues to be a ratings hit, with the third night picking up 9,369,000 viewers with a 54.1% audience share, the second highest third-night share since 1997. And with that, Sanremo 2022 moved on to the fourth night — covers night.

Friday’s show was hosted by Amadeus with the support of the Italian actress Maria Chiara Giannetta.

The 26 competing artists performed a cover of a song of their choice not necessarily related to the history of the Italian festival. Non-Italian language songs were also able to be performed. Around two-thirds of the Campioni were accompanied by a guest performer.

Among the guest artists were former Sanremo entrants including Francesca Michielin, Nek and Arisa.

The cover night has become a regular feature of Sanremo over the years, but this year is crucial for the fate of the singers. Just like last year, these special performances — voted on by the press jury, demoscopic jury and the televote — will contribute to the final ranking.

How will the Sanremo winner be picked?

Voting during the five evenings will occur through different combinations of three methods:

  • Public televoting, carried out via landline, mobile phone, the contest’s official mobile app and online voting.
  • Press jury voting, expressed by accredited print, radio and web journalists that followed the competition from the Roof Hall at the Ariston Theatre.
  • demoscopic poll, composed by 1000 music fans who voted from their homes via an electronic voting system managed by global market research and a consulting firm Ipsos.

The four voting systems will have a percentage weight so distributed:

  • First and Second Evening: 100% press jury voting
  • Third Evening: 50% public televoting; 50% demoscopic poll
  • Fourth Evening: 34% public televoting; 33% demoscopic poll; 33% press jury voting
  • Fifth Evening: 100% public televoting

In the final part of the fifth evening, a new rank indicating the first three acts — determined by the percentage of votes obtained in this evening’s vote and those obtained in previous evenings — will be drawn up.

  • Superfinal: 34% public televoting; 33% press jury voting; 33% demoscopic poll

My personal favorite moment of this serata was my entire Twitter timeline losing their minds over shirtless Rkomi and yelling about Fantasanremo. Truly a moment for the culture 😉

Achille’s letter was kind of a response to the song “Sei Bellissima” they were singing. He wrote the note from the perspective of her partner, who can only call her beautiful, but doesn’t treat her seriously, doesn’t recognize her worth. It’s a apology for Loredana and other women who have been treated like that by men. It’s a beautiful, genuine sentiment (and Lauro even had tears in his eyes when Ama was reading) and it continues what Achille has been doing for years now – destroying that idea of a macho, violent and misogynistic person so many men take up,… Read more »

Gianni is the real winner. He performs his song with heart, passion and without any calculation. The exact opposite of mahmood and blanco

So true. I really don’t understand this obsession with Mahmood and Blanco. So bland in my opinion.

there were 5-6 really good covers but the best result here was the 3th place – red-pink carpet ready for mahmood & blanco?

Hope you are right. Gianni Morandi sang some songs from his large repertoire where he had huge successes. The others, including Massimo Ranieri a serious confident and excellent singer although not my taste, chose to sing covers that were not their own. I loved Mahmood and Blanco and I loved La Rapresentate di Lista with Be my Baby, they were excellent even though they only placed 7th

Unless something surprising/unexpected happens tomorrow, it’s safe to assume Brividi is this year’s winner. Meanwhile, the other 2 spots for the superfinal seem to be a tight race.
Nevertheless, this year’s edition has been magical and iconic imo, so much I’d put a wall of text here if I gave y’all all the reasons why I feel this way about it.

Something like this was also said about the San Remo editions of 2019, 2020 and 2021. San Remo is unpredictable (even though I guessed the winners of 2020 and 2021 right).
Mahmood & Blanco look like winners at the moment, but that could all change on the last day.

What a great night in Sanremo! Emma and Francesca doing a badass rendition of “Baby One More Time” and Gianni Morandi and Jovanotti putting the whole theater to dance were my highlights, but almost all covers were entertaining. The updated scoreboard brought 2 new questions. Can Morandi keep the position in the top 3 until the end? Can Elisa lose her spot? Since tomorrow the televote will decide who moves to the final round, Irama and Sangiovanni still can heavily benefit from it. Here hoping that “Ciao Ciao” fans vote like crazy, so LRDL can at least make to the… Read more »

Overhyped for being potential Eurovision song. That’s what I meant.

Blanco is a streaming machine. He had more streams in 2021 than all the rest of the competitors in the contest combined. His fans literally keep his songs streaming 24/7.

Gianni is really going fir that superfinal.
