MESC 2022: Show details

Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place between 17 and 19 February. The shows have been given the slogan What a feeling.

The 22 acts will compete in the semi-final, with the jury and public televote choosing 16 of them to qualify for the grand final. During the grand final on Saturday 19 February, one act will emerge victorious and go on to represent Malta at Eurovision 2022 in Turin.

The show on 18 February has been designated a separate “special night”.

MESC returns after a three-year break in which Maltese broadcaster PBS used the X Factor Malta and internal selection to choose its act for Eurovision.

What do you make of the rehearsal clips from MESC 2022? Which act is standing out the most to you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

About Emma Muscat: Standing up during a piano act is so dumb. With the piano you tell the story that you are writing an emotional song about anything what happened in your live. Would you stand up when you were writing a song? No, you wouldn’t. Standing up during a piano performance ruins the message and makes the song feel fake. Emma Muscat would surely make Malta not qualify in Eurovision, I hope she won’t win. About Aidan: Ritmu is a good dance song, but I don’t understand the cowboy theme of the performance. For those who know, has the… Read more »

Ritmu please and if it wins PLEASE keep it in Maltese. It sounds SO beautiful in the Maltese language, I think it could be cringe in English but the Maltese lyrics gives it such a sexy quality.

It looks like they’ve really put a lot of effort into the show! Much more than someone dancing in their pyjamas in front of a big TV

Ritmu, Look what you’ve done, and Into the Fire look like they’re going to go Off live. Keen to see them in full.

Definitely underrated. And her vocal sounded great. Would not be mad if it won.

Nicole’s “Into the fire” is such an updated version of Adelen’s “Bombo” 😀 Has anyone noticed it? 😀

Just a small question. Don’t you think it’s a bit too much Luca Hanni?

Hell yes – who was a bit too much Eleni Foureira. He got away with it for being hot, male and young..

Neither do I honestly, but she seems to be a “name” in Malta, having over 400K followers so I guess, they just expect a lot from her.

If Ritmu is on english, that would be just another plastic song.
But becouse it’s not, song is catchy and interesanting.
I don’t heard anything else, but please Malta, something that is not in english.

If Ritmu wins I hope someone doesn’t have the bright idea to translate it into English for ESC in May. I agree the fact that it’s in Maltese makes it more exotic.

I wouldn’t be mad if he did it in Spanish or more likely Italian as Ritmo 🙂

I really like Miriana’s song, “Look What You’ve Done Now”.It’s the only song which has potential for the final. Also, Miriana is super cool and very charismatic

It doesn´t seem like Malta will do particularly well this year, but the competition is clearly between Aidan and Emma.

emma is backed by universal music italy which will cover most costs, so i think it’s in tvm’s interest to make her win and save some coins after last year’s million-euro fiasco. aidan can go back to his insurance company job and come back when tvm has more resources.

Who told you Aidan works for an insurance company? Check your facts before being so venomous in your comment. You just hate Malta and that s it.
