Charley — “I Suck At Being Lonely”

Straight from the heart and onto the stage, Charley’s Australia Decides 2022 entry is a haunting, emotional autobiographical glimpse into the singer’s life. Does “I Suck At Being Lonely” get your vote?

Erica Padilla — “To the Bottom”

Erica Padilla makes her big-stage debut as the eleventh entry TikTok wildcard at Australia Decides 2022. The 20-year-old internet sensation brings radio-friendly pop and shades of R’n’B with her track “To the Bottom”. Does Erica get your vote?

G-Nation — “Bite Me”

The Voice season ten runners-up G-Nat!on — Taylah Silvestri, Mateja Sardelis, Emma Caporaso, Rylee Vormelker, Alessia Musolino, and Isla Ward — deliver hip-hop girl power with their track “Bite Me”. Will G-Nat!on take the Australia Decides 2022 crown?

Isaiah Firebrace and Evie Irie — “When I’m With You”

Eurovision alum Isaiah Firebrace placed ninth at the 2017 song contest in Kyiv with his ballad “Don’t Come Easy”. At Australia Decides 2022, he’s joined up with pop-punk newcomer Evie Irie for another shot at the crown. Will “When I’m With You” take the victory?

Jaguar Jonze — “Little Fires”

Jude York — “I Won’t Need To Dream”

Toowoomba local Jude York delivers a magical journey through the dreamscape with his bid for Australia, “I Won’t Need to Dream”. The lullaby-inspired track pulls elements from classic ’30s and ’40s ballads. Is Jude the pick for Australia?

Paulini — “We Are One”

Australian Idol season one third alternate Paulini is taking a page from the Eurovision 2013 book with her track “We Are One”, a song about togetherness and community spirit. Is Paulini your winner?

Seann Miley Moore — “My Body”

Seann Miley Moore makes the transition to the world of Eurovision after a tenth-place finish on series 12 of The X Factor UK in 2015. “My Body” brings big notes, big beauty, and body-ody-ody. Does Seann Miley Moore get your vote?

Sheldon Riley — “Not The Same”

Sheldon Riley made waves when he burst into the spotlight as a contestant on The Voice season seven. His bid for Australia Decides 2022 is an anthem for queer youth, who have felt shared collective pain as a result of exclusion. Is “Not The Same” your winner?

Voyager — “Dreamer”

Progressive metal band Voyager have seven studio albums to their name. Now, they’re aiming for the big leagues as Eurovision contenders with their track “Dreamer”. Could Voyager be Australia’s pick for Turin?

Which song do you want to download and listen to over and over without falling asleep or feeling depressed?

If it’s not up-tempo and fun I’m not interested. Voyager to win!

I was expecting this contest to be a one Jaguar race – I didn’t really rate our other contestants before the songs came out. Jaguars song is brave and reflects her own recent battles. But there have been two surprises. Voyager sounds like a heavier version of those great Australian 80s groups like Real Life, Kids In the Kitchen and Dear Enemy but if were going to send a band like the Presets why not send the Presets? Sheldon I can’t judge at all – my daughters and I are aspies, this song is our lived experience, we have never… Read more »

For me it’s either Sheldon or Voyager. Sheldon Riley’s song is waaaaaaay too good. Dreamer is a mixture of fun and rock. It’s a bit like Fyr & Flamme had a baby with Maneskin.

Send something good for once, Dreamer!

I’m surprised Jaguar Jonze isn’t rating higher. It’s an amazing, emotional, powerful song.
But for the moment my choices are –
1) Jaguar Jonze
2) Voyager
3) Sheldon Riley

That of course can all change once we see all of the entries and how they perform at Australia Decides. Looking forward to it.

Really didn’t expect 3 ballads to be the ones that stand out to me the most. It doesn’t seem to be as popular, but Jude’s song just sends me to another world. It’s so gorgeous and relaxing to listen to

I think a lot of you guys under estimate how G!Nation will perform at Eurovision Australia Decides. Certainly Sheldon, and Jaguar Jonze are part of the front runners group at the moment but G!Nation will also have a significant chance at winning when you consider the “wow” factors of their performance. Look at their track record with the voice au Voyager/Charlie are good entries but I don’t see Australians picking either of those as the main entry- I think they might lack the “wow” factors that will be seen in the other performers. (look at Jaguar/Sheldon/G!Nation). Charlie’s success I think… Read more »

I am certain they are choosing Sheldon both the public and the jury.

I like the song but i think Ochma’s River stands out more to the general public because it stucks to your head.

Sheldon has a great voice and the song is cute but i am concerned his extravagant appearance might overshadow the song….. i think he is the reason why Australia is so high with bookies.

Anyway, i like Voyager and Charley.

There are some safe songs here, but Australia haven’t been safe with their choice since Australia Decides. There are potential winners/top 5/top 10s here. I believe Australia will pick the best for them.

obviously going to be a performance contest between charley/sheldon/voyager, all are pretty decent contenders at this point but it just really comes down to what comes alive most on stag

Actually I really like “Not The Same” but I don’t see it as a winner alert. More like top 5 or top 10 alert. I don’t usually listen to ballads unless they are rock, so when one ballad comes my way I need three things to appreciate it: the voice, the atmosphere and the lyrics. “Not The Same” ticks two of them which are: Sheldon’s voice is powerful and impressive. It is also special. I really like that kind of light voice breaking he does in the chorus. It’s almost imperceptible. I’ve seen some of his live performances so I’m… Read more »

Jude York’s song is just pure art. But G-Nat!on would be so fun on stage

All the hype surrounding Sheldon may make Australia Decides feels like a referendum on “Not the Same”, but I believe it should be a close race between him, Charley and Voyager. The one from these 3 that translates better to the stage will probably be my pick, but I also like Jaguar Jonze’s (knowing her style, I trust she won’t play safe with the visuals as she played with the song) and Jude York’s songs.

1. I Suck At Being Lonely
2. Little Fires
3. Not The Same
4. I Won’t Need To Dream
5. When I’m With You
6. Electrify
7. Dreamer
8. To The Bottom
9. Bite Me
10. We Are One
11. My Body
I think either Charley or Sheldon are gonna win, depending who has the better staging. If either of those two are chosen, a top 5 finish is almost guaranteed.

I had my expectations very low for Erica but she impressed me a lot! That said, hers isn’t my favorite entry. I’d like Charley or Voyager to win.
Aside from these three, the rest of the selection feels lacklustre :/

Sheldon or Voyager for me, Sheldon fits more into what I expect from Australia usually. Couple of weak songs too, I expected way more from Isaiah and Jaguar Jonze.

Only voting for Australia if they send Voyager. There are only going to be 2-3 rock/metal entries at most anyway, like always, so I could see them doing just about enough for a deserved top 10 finish in the final, you know what to do now…

I found tout lúnivers annoying but that was because I heard it so much. I listened back the say and liked it a lot more. Sheldon’s song makes me cry. My daughter and I have lived that experience – it feels very real to me, very real. Will I vote for it? I don’t know yet.

i don’t “absolutely love” it, but it’s not your standard eurovision ballad, and it’s extremely representative of current music trends. so i’d rather see it win than sheldon’s dirge.

Really fantastic selection from Australia this year, very well done! My absolute favorite is Charley, her song is just fantastic through and through and could easily manage a top three with the juries in Turin. Jude is in my second place, he just seems to sweet and I love his song as well. Sheldon and Voyager would be really strong choices as well. I think we can safely say that Australia will be back in the final next year.
