Slovenia will soon have their entry for Eurovision 2022. The grand final of EMA 2022 takes place Saturday evening, with 12 acts still in the running for the crown.

Ahead of the show, we asked our readers to vote for their favourites to win.

Y’all made sure your voices were heard. A total of 3,716 votes were cast in the poll.

With the votes all totted up, it’s now time to reveal the results.

BQL are a favourite to win EMA 2022

There were three main favourites in this poll. But the EMA 2022 act that managed to make their way to the number one spot was BQL. Their song “Maj” picked up 1,231 votes, which is 33.13% of the total cast.

This is the brother duo’s third appearance at EMA, after finishing second in both 2017 and 2018. They’ve achieved a lot of success in Slovenia since then and their fan base is still as strong as ever. Will BQL finally be able to secure the EMA trophy in 2022?

Second place in the poll goes to newcomers LUMA. They’ve had a longer journey than most to get to the EMA 2022 grand final. Battling their way through EMA Freš – the search for up and coming talent – they eventually won and made it to the main competition.

Now the duo look set to be strong contenders for the EMA crown with their song “All In”. LUMA secured 990 votes in our poll – that’s 26.64% of the total.

The final podium spot is for July Jones. She proudly declares that “Girls Can Do Anything”, and she’s hoping that includes winning EMA 2022.

July made her way into third place in the poll by earning 616 votes (16.58%).

Poll results: Who should win the grand final of Slovenia’s EMA 2022?

  1. BQL – “Maj”, 1,231 votes (33.13%)
  2. LUMA – “All In”, 990 votes (26.64%)
  3. July Jones – “Girls Can Do Anything”, 616 votes (16.58%)
  4. LPS – “Disko”, 179 votes (4.82%)
  5. Anabel – “Tendency”, 114 votes (3.07%)
  6. Leya Leanne – “Naked”, 109 votes (2.93%)
  7. Stela Sofia – “Tu in zdaj”, 94 votes (2.53%)
  8. Batista Cadillac – “Mim Pravil”, 92 votes (2.48%)
  9. Gušti feat. Leyre – “Nova romantika”, 80 votes (2.15%)
  10. David Amaro – “Še Vedno Si Lepa”, 78 votes (2.10%)
  11. Hauptman – “Sledim”, 67 votes (1.80%)
  12. Manouche – “Si sama?”, 66 votes (1.78%)

Total votes: 3,716

The Slovenian jury really needs to do its job tonight and keep the BQL fangirls in check so the ones deserving to go to Torino, LUMA, actually do it…

BQL’s song is really bad, even if I was a fan I don’t think I could pretend their song is any good lol, I mean… If we’re going the boyband route, Joe and Jake already tried that in 2016 with a much better song and people still hated them

I hope Slovenia choses wisely and differently, for the first year they have magnificent pieces of art like Batista Cadillac, LPS, and Hauptman, that are far more unique that the chosen top 3 by the poll voters. Hopefully people in Slovenia would vote for quality over flash and overdone pop. It’s time for different genres to get a platform and I reckon they’d give Slovemia their best placing thus far.

Ooo, interesting poll result! Unexpected. I too really like BQL and I think “Maj” is their best entry so far. But, I thought July Jones or LUMA would be the front runners in the poll.

I find it funny how BQL were instructing their fans on IG to go vote on this poll (hence why they won it), just so they can be No.1 in one of the rankings 🙂 And on the other side blocking YouTube videos, where their song did not receive positive critique.
I mean, I always wanted them to go to ESC one day with a great song (which Maj isn’t; I wish they would save “Peru” for this year), but this behaviour is not cute.

Independiente deserved the top 3 at least. I still can’t understand how Mia didn’t make it to the final…

They (BQL) linked the poll on their IG story every day… so their votes are basically votes of their fans. No other performer did that.

that explains it. eurofans seem to generally dislike their song, which means it must be awful considering bql were at the top of the list of most eurofans’ wishlist for slovenia.

You could listen to it and decide for yourself. Sometimes one can disagree with the majority. 🙂

The Raay production actually blocked/ copystriked the reaction videos and tops, where BQL were ranked low. So pitiful…

This is the first year I have actually listened to and ranked all of the EMA songs before the finals. My surprising analysis is that I don’t have one big favorite, but rather a positive outlook towards many of them. If anyone among Luma, Battista Cadillac, LPS, July Jones, David Amaro, Hauptman, or BQL wins tonight, I’ll be fine with it. I guess that Luma has the upper hand in nailing the staging and the atmosphere they are going for.

Good, I’m relieved as the winner of wiwibloggs pol hasn’t actaully won since 2015. We’re safe from BQL. 😀

It would be great if LUMA wins, we need that performance in Eurovision.

Also, does anyone know when/if these songs make it to streaming services?

BQL would be te worst choice for Turin, I´m sorry….

LUMA however would be an excellent entry.

I can’t remember who but I read on one of the participants’ social media that they have to hold back the releases because of the broadcaster.
My guess would be within 24 hours of the final.

Is there any particular reason for BQL being the favorites besides them being a known name in the community? I find their song one of the weakest here.

I suspect they created bots to generate votes in the poll, their record label sends copyright strikes to YouTube tops that placed them low so I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the case as well.

They posted the poll twice on their ig storys. If they didn’t, Luma would have won by a landslide.
