I’m a fan of Os Azeitonas. But their song submission for this isn’t my taste. Their older songs are better. “Anda comigo ver os Avioes” is one of there best songs. i reccomend giving that one a listen

I still wonder how we Spain and Portugal are so close but still have so different taste in music.

As I see it know the winner should be decided from MARO, SYRO, Pongo & Tristany. All of them could make an impact in very different ways. Syro is probably the safest. Maro would play the nostalgic, atmospheric, laid-back card and Pongo & Tristany the uplifting and colourful one.

True. A lot of music that Spain likes is considered “cheap and trashy” in Portugal and a lot of music that Portugal likes is considered “boring and depressing” in Spain

Purely based on the songs, I want Pongo & Tristany and Syro to qualify.

As someone that loved “Passe-Partout”, I can understand your comparison, but I think Bábara had more going on for her. She was blossoming as a singer in the Portuguese scene, the songwriter Nacarato has a lot of fans and, though it had that Disney vibe to it, fits better Portuguese contemporary music. Plus that year was weaker in FdC. On the other hand, “Fome de Viagem” feels a bit Disney on steroids, has even a farsical element to it. Which may end up translating better to the stage, of course.

I said “weaker”, not “weak”! 😀 If I’m not mistaken, it was the jury that killed Bárbara’s chances in the final, so let’s see how they’ll react to Inês this time.

My favorites on this semi are Pongo & Tristany, Syro and Cubita. The first 2 acts I believe are locks, though Cubita may be overshadowed by Blacci, who would also be a qualifier for my taste. The thing is this semi feels much more unpredictable than the first. “Milhanas” has a strong message and a popular songwriter behind it, Os Azeitonas are very well known in Portugal, “Fome de Viagem” can be a lot of fun if performed well… Besides O Vampiro Submarino, I can see anybody moving on to the final.

Wow, this is like the tenth time that we’re agreeing on something! But, actually I have other favorites too. I always thought I had a weird music taste since all the Eurovision/NF songs I like are always really underrated. I rarely like the fan favorite. For example, in this FdC, I never understood the hype around Degra. De or Ainda nos Temos, but I love Fome de Viagem, Ginger Ale and Solta a Voz e Canta. But I do agree with the fandom about Maro. Saudade, saudade is definitely amazing and it’s also my winner. But everything comes down to… Read more »
