Zorja for Turin please !

I liked “Zorja” before but has really grown on me live.

It kind of reminds of “Zajdi, Zajdi (Dawn of a New Time)” which is in the Battlefield 1 videogame OST. It is a traditional Macedonian song as far as I know; a version of it was sung by Nina Kraljic in The Voice Croatia. It is more instrumental, atmospheric and laid back than “Zorja” but I would encourage you to take a listen if you liked this one.

My top 8 of tonight were:
1. Zorja
2. Boris Subotic
3. Igor Simic
4. Marija Mikic
5. Ivona
6. Angellina
7. Lift
8. Ana Stanic

Pretty close to the 8 that qualified besides Boris & Igor instead of Konstrakta & Biber 🙁

ZORJA! ZORJA!! ZORJA!!!

Zorya has a nice voice (but, every year there’s like at least 10 powerful voices so nothing to stand out) BUT in the end this is song not the voice competition and her song per se is just average, mediocre, even childish at some moments. This is something that we heard like milion times already and 15th place is guaranteed with this. On the positive side, her English is good so no 3rd graders same answer “yes, I’m Happy to be here” no matter what was the reporter’s question…

i’ve been saying this all along. a balkan ballad will qualify for the final and end up 15-20th. people have moved on.

Sorry but Zorja is such a mediocre 19th place final song, it literally goes nowhere. Ljubav me inspiriše is the superior ballad actually but I hope Sara Jo wins (unless her performance is really bad)

Poloser Garbagerina

Reply to  alex8

there’s no song quite like it this year. and songs like that tend to do remarkably, especially in televoting. ironic of you saying it goes nowhere and then praising sara jo’s song lol

Lift – Drama for me is easily the best, with some extra work they could be awesome

Minor comment before my triumphant explosion: Boris should have been a qualifier and Angelina needs to work on her vocals, maybe even fix the camera work too.

And now for the explosion: *Inhales and exhales furiously* “ZOOOOOOORJAAAAAAAAAA!” <3

I only saw a recap so far, but here’s the sum of it: Zorja was outstanding, and should win it all. Wow! 🙂 Boris’ song is convincingly among the top 2 here, and his NQ is one of the most baffling choices of this NF season. Not being in top 5, okay… Not qualifying? How? His previous live performance was excellent, and the clip sounded good too. Origami feels even weaker as a performance than as a song. Congrats to Marija Mikic, my third from this semi. Konstrakta has a fun song, and this staging feels bonkers to fit it.… Read more »

How is NO ONE talking about Zorja?
It was so impressive that I went into the show having origami as my favorite and I left out thinking Zorja could win eurovision. Molitva vibes.
Everything was on point:
-Her vocals
-The staging
-Clothing
… Belgrade 2023? let’s see what Sara has to Offer. Unfortunately I see Sara winning the televise and Zorja the juries leaving room for some random old dude with a balkan ballad to win 🙁

Hurricane doing a cover of “Qele, Qele” is a nice surprise. One of my favorite Eurovision bops!

Edit: well, more a karoke than a cover, but it’s fun anyway! Then they did “Fuego” and now “Mata Hari”.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how much effort everyone seems to have put in their performances. Keep in mind that 80% of the entries here are low-budget, unknown singers. I wish them all the best and to gain some traction from this festival

Off Topic: Austria revealed a snippet of Halo. Based of the snippet, I can confidently say it is only the same level as (or maybe even better than) Jowst’s Grab The Moment.

I just listened to it, I’d say it’s far better than Grab the Moment.

If this works out live with good staging this could go top 10 easily, but I can’t see it challenging for the win/top 3.

It’s only 8 songs in (for me at least) and all I can say is that Zorja will be unbeatable for me probably. The studio version was by far the best imo and this performance was Eurovision ready. Fingers crossed for Zorja to go to Turin bc that’s an amazing opportunity for Serbia and I hope they choose her.

I know you all dislike my comment because the “Americans will misunderstand Eurovision and the American Song Contest will surely flop” and “The USA isn’t diverse enough to make a Eurovision style contest” type of arguments. But, lets all just give it a chance before we start prejudicing it.

As a Dutch person, I’ll watch ASC. If it is good, I’ll keep on watching and if it is bad I’ll quit watching it. Simple as that.

I personally see the American Song Contest as a national selection anyways (even if the ASC winner doesn’t go to Eurovision), so I don’t mind it if 95% is English.

she looks like madonna at super bowl, the song is boring and passe, the choreo imitates hari mata hari and joks… it’s not bad, but it’s far from ending up in the first half of the scoreboard in the ESC grand final. a song like this would never be a hit in serbia even anymore, it’s so 2008.

zorja had some amazing vocals! the staging is missing right now but i feel like 2022 stage will be perfect for this song with its natural qualities: the turning sun arches, waterfall… They can create that magical atmosphere song and the vocals present right now! Still wondering Sara jo’s live performance though.
