Are you glad that Alvan & Ahez won Eurovision France, C’est vous qui décidez 2022? How will France do at Eurovision this year? Share all your thoughts in the comments below.
All I can see and hear is a group of people trying to channel Go_A from last year and not doing a very good job at it.
Excellent win! Actual French heritage rather than fake Americanized dung like Elia!
Wow, he is so handsome. The camera loves him. As long as the camera focuses on him, this song will do quite well .Performance needs tidying up.
Hahaha, what’s wrong with short guys? Did you got ghosted by a short guy from southern Europe before?
Moi j’adore je trouve qu’avec un tableau très bien travailler cette chanson peux surprendre….. Un OVNI ! Surtout pour la France, magnifique le breton??
I gotta say I like it. But I feel like it needs a rework, at least the performance before the final. If it isn’t reworked then I feel like it can be regarded as chaotic.
Omg! I just love this. My top 3 for sure!
How nice to discover that France is taking the contest serious, a splendid collection of songs that are unmistakably French. Alvan & Ahez delivered a very professional performance and i believe they will do very well. I just would love the production to better portray Alvan’s infectious gestures. That will make a big difference, for the better, in my opinion.
England is not Celtic, and that’s where most of Britain lives – but maybe.
Who knows?
A masterpiece. My 12 points
As a frenchman i don’t like the song. I don’t speak Breton (like most french poeple). Ok there is a delta between this and B.Pravi and it’s fun. But the key is emotion and in this case there a lack.
Well. Most Europe doesn’t speak french 😀
But many do though!
The emotion that passes through is of a wild spirit, free spirit. And that’s more than enough.
Nil points
Nil comment.
Perfect top 2 for the French selection, I also loved Pauline but Alvan et Ahez brought the house down and there was absolutely no way they wouldn’t represent the country in Torino after that performance. France rules ESC again these days and I’m 100% voting for them, just like last year.
So that’s now two national finals (and in from the big five for that matter) where songs with regional language have won the televote? Oh and both songs were well-liked by the ESC international community?
Always knew there was more appetite for this than organisers and broadcasters think.
as a Frenchman, I’m usually not a fan of the representatives of my country but here I think it’s still good!! I love Irish and Breton Celtic culture (I know Ireland will give us points!!) and I’m happy with this song! Only downside, the staging is quite messy and the voices of the girls average but by May, that could change!! satisfied overall and I therefore see France in the table on the left (10th-13th) because there are many countries in my eyes which are much better (Poland, Netherlands, Italy, Ukraine, maybe Sweden if it is Cornelia, Czechia, Poland, Albania… Read more »
France is an automatic qualifier and I love that they are taking a risk. I don’t like it tho.
Yes, the Big Five should really take risks more often. They’re already in the final and they got nothing to lose. Host countries too. I thought the Netherlands would have sent something in Dutch the year(s) they hosted, but I’m glad they’re sending a Dutch song this year.
But unfortunately Germany sends a very generic song again. The problem it´s on the broadcaster: They doesn´t want another musical style for ESC…
Yeah, I know How unambitious German can be towards Eurovision. The broadcaster really just doesn’t want to win again and host.
Plus Fulenn was written and composed last summer ahah
Nothing special! It’s just in breton, so what?! Missed opportunity for France after last year’s triumph.
Anyway, Italy has a grudge against us because of last year, and surely others are ready to cudgel us between the ears. You only have to see the number of sometimes strong reactions on this post, while obviously there is much less turmoil for the contestants of Denmark or Romania.honestly I don’t think the victory will be for this year, not because of the song, but the general context which does not lend itself to celebration. For me it’s a song with a strong message that will win. Hoping that next year will be more peaceful. (But like us French… Read more »
i dont think Italy has a grudge with France in the slightest… but to be fair i applaud the fact that France is the only country sending a Regional song (despite the festive party feel), in the current times where identity (and war against identity) is a touchy subject but essential need, i feel like this is a strong message to deny oppression of the identity and very much salute this message of unity… in that sense, vive la france!
France is giving the fans of Tanxugueiras their revenge!
I really enjoyed SOA’s performance but first is always a hard spot…
France did the right choice. A song with lyrics in French and Breton and a stunning and epic performance. In my personal ranking the French entrants are on first place, second place is Italy and thrid place Ukraine. The biggest surprise were Marius and Elliott because I thought these two guys didn’t make it to the Vote Ultime.
The lyrics are only in Breton 🙂
Cool!! 😀 This reminds me of Tanxigueiras!!
there’s just something not coming through for me – it’s bottom 5 in the grand final in my opinion. would have preferred marius or soa (and surprised they didn’t win)
Alvan & Ahez were by really far the best on the show, Soa weren’t really good in live and Marius song wasn’t so good plus, it would have been a really bad idea to send it the year after Barbara Pravi, “Fulenn” was really the best choice and I’m sure it will not be bottom 5 especially after that crime Spain made to Terra which make this song even more unique among all the participating songs in may
If the live and the scenography is good, the song is at least on the top 10 of the televote
I am absolutely devastated with the quality of this Year’s songs… usually i liked about 20 of them but this year maybe 2-3 ot them i listen to.. so sad, I had really big expectations from ESC 2022..;(
Out of the 12 competing songs, that’s a choice I’m happy with and Nuit Pauline was a good contender as well, although I didn’t expect the song to rank so high. The only song that gave me goosebumps was Marius’s but reading the comments on this blog after he sang made me understand that his message didn’t come across.I found his interpretation on point but it may have been too reminiscent of Barbara Pravi’s to some of the viewers. About last night’s show, I found the camera work bad. It didn’t do any favour to most of the songs except… Read more »
Mehhh. He is cute and that is why they are gonna get votes.
I’m sorry but I don’t see the link between his physic and the votes, they just win because on the live, they had the best song, the best performance, the best scenography and they were the contestants with the more chances at ESC in may
I watched Fulenn performance many times and it’s just so good.
I love the green light and atmosphere and the smoke and fire. The dancer. The girls moving for the stage while Alvan is there with his great energy and instruments. I love everything. Those 3 minutes feel like 1. Nobody will be bored.
The camera work and angles great. Being fast and chaotic works perfect with Fulenn energy. They can improve from this for sure but this already very strong for me.
This was such an entertaining national final with some really good songs. However some of the live performances failed to match up to expectations. SOA had poor vocals and looked lost on stage. Joan’s performance lacked the magic of her video. The winners suffered from poor vocals from 3 girls (originally 2) and the staging was a complete mess and needs to be polished. I thought Pauline’s vocal was absolutely perfect and well deserved runner up. It is a great 80s sound and her vocals sound similar to Mylene Farmer. Well done France for a great show.
Yeah, all in all, it was an entertaining show. But i don’t think that it’s a good sign, if about half of the acts try to copy French artists from the 80s or to be a copycat of Barbara Pravi. So I’m quite happy that Alvan & Ahez won, although working with ethnic elements cannot really be seen as le denier cri.
The reason why the artists try to ”copy” the 80’s is because it is really popular in France at this moment, 80% of the ”today music” is 80’s for me…
The 80s are fashionable, but it’s a general fashion. last year during the grand finale several contestants had a staging inspired by the 80s (Stefania, Destiny, Jendrik and I forget). It is in tune with the times. What makes me especially laugh is that this “80s” side is used by artists who are barely 20 years old and have not experienced the 80s/.
The 80’s and 90’s are popular everywhere – and therefore also in Eurovision. There has always been retro trends in music, that’s ok. It’s just not something very innovative.
Pauline had a few mishaps with her vocals too tho or maybe that’s just how it sounded to me. I also didn’t really hear anything that bad in the 3 girls vocals but rather they need to harmonize better with the guy because his voice was a bit too loud compared to theirs.
This Eurovision is so weak…the most songs are terrible. But France with this song has the opportunity to be on top 3 again!!! Very different and very good!
“Fulenn” means “sparkle” and “beautiful girl”. The song is inspired by a legend about a young girl, dancing in the woods at night, with the devil, and who says “So what?”
Franxugueiras
So True!
They can be happy that they’re now the only act in this kind of genre. Otherwise, it would also feel a bit strange, when you claim to show your local culture, but then another country has an entry with quite a similar look.
It’s worth noting that Galicia and Bretagne share a similar celtic culture and meet every year at the Festival interceltique de Lorient.
Good point! ?
Delighted with this Breton win, lovely authenticity to the song with a modern twist. Anyone not familiar with Breton music check out the wonderful music of Alan Stivell, in particular Renaissance of the Celtic Harp and his timeless Live at the Olympia Paris, 1972. I’m sure the Goadec Sisters are smiling down on this young group!
Voting for the Big 5-countries so far
France 12/12
Italy 11/12
Spain 5,5/12
Germany 5/12
I hope that the rumours about the participation of London Grammar are true and UK will be on the top…
Love London Grammar!
It was the first time I watched French selection, and it was incredibly good. The production of the show is at the same level as Melfest, the quality and authenticity as in Sanremo, I added 7/12 songs to my playlist and the result is so adequate. I fell in love with A&A in the first 10 seconds, it’s risky, but definitely has huge potential, my favorite for now
The almost primal staging worked quite well for me, given the context of the lyrics, which I believe are about a kind of medieval spirituality.
Over here, Spaniards have already nicknamed them the “French Tanxugueiras”. Get ready for Galician voter mobilization and some sweet televote points.
No surprise!Same Celtic heritage 🙂
It looks like high school project honestly i would prefer Germany this year. Gays saying this is a winner song because he is handsome lol
No, they tell this because the song and the performance were just really good
It does come off as amateur hour in school. But with improvements it could reach top 15. Cause it does have something unique in there
I Wouldn’t say amateur, of course, they need a little bit of improvement but they weren’t bad at all, the performance was really really good and the vocals weren’t bad at all, they weren’t perfect but really far from amateur
This is a bold move from France. Not my type of song, but definitely original. Dunno if it will do well (to me, most probably not, somewhere at the bottom of the ranking). Pauline Chagne would have been a safer choice and her song is quite catchy, Mylene Farmer vibes for those of use who remember her from the 90s. Good luck, France!
The intentions are good, but they look totally amateurs and the song lacks of a proper structure. It needs a serious revamp in order to seem more contemporary. Pauline was a much more complete entry.
Maybe you should go to the studio and show him how he can do proper music then
I think if vocals are improved this could be memorable. I hadn’t watched any of the French acts before last night. What struck me was the original sound but also the weak vocals. I am wondering though if that was just nerves. Good luck France!
One thing is for sure. This will be memorable. I could be in a good or bad way but when people watch eurovision and this comes on it will grap their attention.
What a mess:-) Gives me Bulgaria 2013 vibes.
France 12/12
France is delivering!!
Really love the French entries of recent years! (Amir, Alma, Madame-Monseuir, Barbara Pravi) and now I will add Alvan and Ahez to that list.
Love this! This will do well for sure.
France have turned things around.
Also, the guy is very very hot!!!
I was disappointed that Saam didn’t made it to the final 6. I am actually happy with thé result of Marius since it was one of my favorites. Thé winning song? Not gonna lie, it’s not my cup of tea. But i know for sure that it will do well. Maybe not among the juries but certainly among the public!
It’s got some winner potential! And I know who is my boyfriend of Eurovisionn 2022 :).
I did not expect this from France. The genre usually does not do well in the contest. But we sure will have variation in the final
I just LOVE Nuit Pauline. But Fulenn is a good choice. If they tidy up the performance, this has Top10 potential.
Uhh that handsome men on stage is making me hot 😉
The Song is good, Alvan is better 😉
I thought the same, he is so good 😀
The ladies are super nice as well. The whole thing is quite sexual I think.
