Denmark have chosen their act for Eurovision. Eight acts took part in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022, but in the end it was the group REDDI who emerged victorious with their song “The Show”.

They’ll now head to Turin in May, where they’ll represent Denmark at Eurovision 2022.

REDDI win Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022

Voting for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022 began earlier in the week via the DMGP app. Those votes were combined with the votes made during the show to determine the top three, who moved on to a super final.

The three super finalists were:

  • Conf3ssions – “Hallelujah”
  • Josie Elinor & Jack Warren – “Let Me Go”
  • REDDI – “The Show”

These three lucky acts then performed again and the public were tasked with deciding the winner.

In the end, it was REDDI who emerged victorious

DMGP 2022 Running order

  1. Patrick Dorgan – “Vinden Suser Ind”
  2. Conf3ssions – “Hallelujah”
  3. Der Var Engang – “En Skønne Dag”
  4. Fuld Effekt – “Rave Med De Hårde Drenge”
  5. Josie Elinor & Jack Warren – “Let Me Go”
  6. Morten Fillipsen – “Happy Go Lucky”
  7. REDDI – “The Show”
  8. Juncker – “Kommet For At Blive”

Tina Müller and Martin Brygmann have the honour of guiding viewers through the show.

Are you happy that REDDI won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2022? How will Denmark do at Eurovision 2022? Let us know in the comments below!

This national final was pretty weak overall this song is ok ut it just feels flat amd forgettable

I would’ve liked it better without the piano intro, an still it sounds like something you’d see in esc 2010 or earlier. Maybe I like it least of all rock songs this year (yes, Intention included, though I haven’t heard it live)

I actually quite enjoy this. A bit safe and Danish, but the song is fun and they look like they’re enjoying themselves on stage. This won’t be a top 5 but there have certainly been worse entries from Denmark

I really think Denmark should just start going internal next year because this will just end up another failure.

So this went from power ballad to rock to key change? Why?

Also correct me if I’m wrong but are her vocals being drowned out as soon as the song goes into rock? I was kind of enjoying the ballad moment before it changed (even if it was a bit formulaic).

The lead singer’s vocals don’t really suit the rock/punk pop vibes very well. She sounded fine in the opening, but it just went downhill from there.

I can’t believe they did it. Denmark is succeeding in becoming one of the most boring acts in ESC every year. So sad… there were nice options. Another flopped year

Boring? What are you talking about? Look at our last 5 ESC songs again and call them boring. Wth is wrong.

I can hardly even recall the last five years of Danish Eurovision songs and I’m Danish. I think foregettable is not an entirely wrong word to use…

There is not a single chance they will qualify. That’s like Ireland 2009, better luck next year

So Denmark went for the “middling effect”, which is absolutely their prerogative. The epitome of a missed opportunity.

Oh well.

I feel like Denmark really doesnt care about ESC and doing well
This is like last year: a fun little retro song but nothing more. Thats it. Nothing that will break the phone lines.
I hope someday Denmark goes back to the days where MGP was really competetive and artists fought to be there. Where it was a rival to MF

I’m not a fan of their genre and don’t understand a word of Danish, but Fuld Effekt had a standout performance yesterday and was my personal winner by far. It was original, authentic, energising and easy to remember in a lineup of 25 songs. I loved it and this is added to my own list while running. The actual winner is not bad at all, just a safe bet and those mostly struggle nowadays.

even my 74 year old father said that was the only song he would vote for. That was a surprise for me. I voted for them but seems it was not enough. Danish people really do prefer standard in all aspect of life.

Sounds like the soundtrack to a 2000s teen movie when the main girl gets ready for school and almost misses the bus and then she meets her friends and the song stops. The intro is too long to get going though..

This song uses rock instruments but everything other than instruments is something like an old schlager music.

Reminds me of Ireland in 2009.

It’s not bad but the it’s not going to challenge. The “never let it go” line sounds sooo Scandinavian.
At the moment I’ll say it will qualify, and finish mid table.

We need more of this sound at Eurovision generally, but this is a pedestrian example of it. From what I can tell, this band seems to be brand new and it really shows. Similar to Bulgaria, bands need time together to really hone an identity and sound or they end up with something quite paint by numbers. It’s still enjoyable enough and a welcome inclusion for sonic diversity, but eh. Another underwhelming rock song this year.

Love that Denmark actually chose well this time. I enjoy the Piano to rock switch. Very Bohemian Rhapsody. This should qualify with a good performance.

Been hooked on Hallelujah by Conf3ssions for some time now.. At least I can blast my speakers when I put this on repeat through my playlist BUT I would’ve loved seeing such a wonderful inspiring song on the Eurovision stage in Torino.. But that’s just me.. Good luck to Reddi

Is this the first female rock band in Eurovision since Vanilla Ninja? I think Reddi is in a similar position to LPS in Slovenia. Both bands are charming, carry a certain ingenuous vibe, defeated fan favorites and for now don’t see competitive, but may still find an audience, especially outside our bubble.

lol Denmark clearly does not care anymore, good artists do not submit songs in the national final so here we go with Denmark not qualifying again. Unless they are too scared of accidentally winning, remember the mess they made in the ESC2014 budget.

This is not the kind of music I usually listen to, but Eurovision needs more face-melting guitar solos, so I’ll allow it .. Girl punk bands are not that common in EV, so I think it will stand out & I look forward to seeing it live. 6.5 out of 10 for me, based purely on taste.

Predictable result. Denmark always chooses the cutest instead of the best song. In the years Denmark does well, the cutest song of the selection is also the best song of the selection. Denmark will be a sure NQ this year.

Out of all the “Rock Songs” or “Songs with Rock-Elements” we have this year is this one of the weaker ones for me. I prefer Jezebel and Stripper over The Show. I know these are different genres of “Rock” or “Rock-Inspired-Songs” but its still some style pf Rock, so why would I vote for this if I can vote for Jezebel.
It’s still a good Song, it just loses in comparison.

Wow. Full Efekt was better but this song has so nice and a little bit nostalgic melody. I love it. And I love girls authenticity, changing piano part with rock, they are unique and cool. One of my favourites, well done Denmark!

Lol didn’t expect so many people to be so sad about the rave song, probably wouldn’t have even qualified for the final…. So happy reddi won, my favourite (along with hallelujah), my favourite always seems to win DMGP, starting with soldiers of love back in 2016………
