Romania’s selection for Eurovision 2022 has been a long road. But after 46 initial acts entered the race, only one now remains standing – WRS has won Selectia Nationala 2022 with “Llámame”.
He’ll now head to Turin and represent Romania at Eurovision 2022.
WRS wins Romania’s Selectia Nationala 2022
The result was decided by a combination of 5/6 jury and 1/6 televote.
WRS earned top points from three of five jurors and finished second in the televote.
The winner of the televote was Dora Gaitanovici, who ended up third overall.

Ukraine’s Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala also performed “1944”, having fled Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.
Are you happy that WRS won Selectia Nationala 2022? How do you think Romania will do at Eurovision?
??? Romania, after carefully studying the comments, please don’t send any more songs in Spanish that is bothering them, because they are too little to understand a compliment no matter how grammatically correct it is or not. Send in Dutch, I swear we will be honoured by such an initiative. It’s embarrassing to criticize a nation who did nothing but send you a compliment by using your language. It’s a sentence in the south of the Netherlands, it say like this, it’s from a Dutch Fairytale:” and when you will arrive my master our prince in the south, and thou… Read more »
This is the most progressive act Romania has ever sent to Eurovision and I’m sure it will qualify in the final. I might even call this a step forward for Romania.
The boy from Romania, will produce a child sick of gigantism. Perhaps he will do it with Liana Stanciu, the hitter of Human Rights in Romania Far Right
This is just an utterly cringy, cheesy, awful entry. The national competition should be scrapped for a few years and a return with new younger judges with proven international success is a must if we are to recover any standing This will be another NQ.
I just realized the split jury:televoters is 5/6 vs 1/6, IN WHAT WORLD is that normal? This has got to be the most un-democratic NF I’ve ever seen, and blatanly so. It’s sickening that people’s votes (the taxpayers whose money you take to have a representative in eurovision) don’t get a fair share of the voting. I wish him luck and Romanian comittee to just quit, or for people to not vote, that way you wont support this sh*tshow
All the gypsies, make photos in desert, Prefer to associate themselves with iraqi arabs then with romania
This is better than Dora – Ana? Wow……
Y no se confundan señoras y señores….Chanel vibez
You’re only fooling yourself if you think this isn’t the cheap version of I.M.
i kinda dislike it, sounds more like mumbling than singing, not sure whether it’s on the song or performer
A good choice, all TVR needs is a comedian to make a mockery of competitors and it might also raise their ratings. As they are now, with less than 200k viewers there are more people watching cartoons channels.
“Hola mi bebe-be”… The chorus is infectious, it got stuck in my ears. Loved the show and his moves, not to mention he’s uber cute! Romania to the Final!
everyone is arguing between dora and wrs but they dont realize that if wrs didnt win kyrie woulf have won lmao. like pls this is a lot better
Given the average quality of the year I still think this can make the final. Romania has definitely qualified with worse
The song is catchy and solid for its genre. However his voice is the biggest issue, his voice cracks downgrade the whole song
Personally voted a few times for Dora because she’s actually able to sing her own song live at least, but, totally unsurprisingly, communist-era relic TVR decided to make a mockery out of the voting public by making the televote count for less than 20% and also adding a convoluted scoring system that basically rendered the whole thing into an internal jury selection with ongoing “donations”. For what, exactly? For pushing through a meme entry with random mumbled Spanish lyrics… Well done, TVR, enjoy that 4th NQ in a row.
Read more »
Don’t bet your money(euro or lei) on it 😉 Just a bit of friendly advice.
Probably late to the party but I’m pleasantly surprise at the result! The song is definitely catching on to me, hopefully it could lead to a gf qualification. Looking forward to their performance in Turin!
Tbh i love it. it’s simple and needs improvement but it’s catchy. also the staging was poor bcs the studio the final was filmed didnt offer too much . on a big stage could do quite well. it s a song that doesnt require super vocals to be good, and even if his voice was not wow in this , it can aleays be fixed but i think this is what makes him special:)
Very repetitive and tacky.
Are we going to ignore that he’s even dressed like Alvaro Estrella in his MF performance of Suave?
He doesn’t really sing very well, nor does he dance very well. The song is better than it originally was now it’s revamped, the lyrics of the chorus are still preschool-level Spanish. It feels like the kind of song many countries liked to enter around 2005 or so. Still, it’s kind of an earworm and I don’t think it’s without hope of qualifying, but Romania can forget about a decent result.
I got the Hola mi bebebebe…llamame llamame part stuck in my head… . I realy dont care if the lyrics is simple, sometimes simple is fun…
He has charisma on stage, he is natural, handsome and sexy.
Good luck my dear WRS ! <3
A good song with an almost sultry performance on stage. WRS is a good dancer maybe he may take part at “Dancing with the Stars”?
Hehe, so many romanians pretend to be latinos.??
he can’t sing, and he certainly can’t sing in English. the song isn’t bad but the overall package is just terrible
Rumania is part of the latin countries of south Europe. It’s surrounded by non latin countries.
Repetitive but the music is very good!
How come there are people who like this while everyone hating on IM, IM is a better dance song with much much better vocals, this has nothing
Don’t compare this to that trash please.
You’re totally right. I still don’t understand all the hate for I.M. Sure, it’s not a masterpiece, but I’d say it’s pretty average.
This meanwhile … oh boy.
I love both 😀
This sounds original and it’s catchy, while I.M. sounds like a mashup of Swish Swish x Whine Up
I kind of enjoy this one, it’s catchy!
The jury absolutely destroyed this national selection. Faur’s obiective for the final was just to make arrogant declarations to E-an-na. I hope he Will have the guts to be as vocal after the semi-finals as well, and they will assume the result. 100% televote next year, or we better withdraw, anyway The interest from artists will be much lower after what happened this year.
I actually like this. It’s not the next esc winner or a mind blowing masterpiece but I find it catchy and entertaining.
It’s very mid-00s Eurovision….nostalgic but not necessarily good.
Romania didn’t qualify in the past with better songs so I’m really unsure they could qualify this year too.
But we will see I guess – this is Eurovision and stranger things have happened.
The past few years have been stronger than this one, so I don’t really think Romania will struggle as much this year. That is, unless if somehow WRS has a breakdown or something which, probably won’t happen. Wouldn’t want him to suffer from the Roxen syndrome now.
Yup, this is awful, too. No need to even get into the details, this is a car crash.
Suddenly Intelligent Music Project doesn’t appear that weak anymore, does it?
how dare u compare bulgaria to romania this year bro lmao. yall literelly have no taste. and even if llamame is not the best song, it is definately a lot better and more catchy and more enjoyable than others this year
His vocals aren’t the best and his moves aren’t on par with the backing dancers but this is insanely catchy and I loved how they have worked on the presentation. There’s lots to like here and he has plenty of time to practice and polish, I really enjoyed it, good choice.
The studio cut is actually quite catchy, but I’m not sure about the live performance. It’s not one of my favourite but I hope Romania qualifies again.
Harmless. But those vocals … oh, dear! At least he knows his choreography – by numbers!
Latino from Romania, Country music from Estonia
Well, if you don’t know – Romania is one of the countries with Latin linguistic roots. Cheers.
Is this meant to be a parody? I’m getting serious Lion of Love vibes
Sorry, sounds like a Alvaro Suarez reject for Melfest.
This wont bring you the result you are after, Romania.
Who’s Alvaro Suarez?
Haha! Alvaro Estrella
This is quite fun. Giving some party vibes 2005 realness.
I feel like I’m slap by my own critisism from the previous post of who should win the selection.
Cheesy, bland, dull and, overall, highly ridiculous. His stage presence is almost embarrasing. It seems like he’s trying too hard to be someone.
It is also true there weren’t too many better options to choose from. At least this would live for the memes. I doubt it is enough to qualify, especially being in the 2nd SF.
Also, to those saying we, Spain, will give this max points because it has Spanish lyrics… well, I can say this will received a lot of votes because of the jokes. People here is laughting at him but that would give him some points. I don’t think we are talkign about the 12 points though.
If I were you I would shut up. Being from a country doomed to the bottom of the Final, sending mostly joke songs year by year. 0 points in the Final are guaranteed this year, too…
Fortunately, Spain has a good artist (Cuban-Spanish singer Chanel) and a nice song this year. lol
@Hector: Cuba is not participating to give you its 12 points. Cheers
Yes, a very good artist, a woman who sells s * x on a song from the 2000s. Take a look at the Portuguese to see what it means for a woman to sing and behave with dignity, as woman, as a powerful woman of 21 century. And leave the Romanian alone, I prefer Romanians to the detriment of Spaniards as music and people every day.
obvs it was the one of the 2 better songs in the selection.Dora was the other one but the jury somehow didn’t like her.
I think Romania could be a borderline qualifer depending on the countries voting in their semifinal and the level of entries of the semifinal.
Singer looks like he’s a wannabe Sakis Rouvas/Sarbel, song sounds a bit dated but it’s okay, i guess. if Romania fails this year again, then i seriously think they will withdraw.
I don’t know what to think but the lyric “hola mi bebébé” is hilarious to me for some reason
Ok this is really bad… non qualifier for sure!
It will be so funny when Spain gives them 0 points (if they make it to the Final that is )
jury maybe but not the public. definitely not the public. the ES jury usually votes for entries with a few Spanish lyrics.
This does nothing for me. It’s cheesy, the song goes nowhere and the lyrics are just… words.
However, Romania has a good base to work with. With a revamp, improvement with lyrics and a staging concept this could be great.
he must have some connection with that jury
This is so bad… If you understand spanish this is joke entry levels of bad. a 5 year old would write something better for the chorus.
They had Dora Gaitanovici with “Ana” which was SO MUCH BETTER (and won the televote) and decided to send this??
This is for sure getting lots of points from the Spanish televote. The song has something that makes it get stuck in your head.
the spanish televote was going to give romania 12 points no matter what, just as they’ve been doing almost every year since the mid-2000s
But this time it will be the Spaniards and not the Romanian diaspora voting (or rather the both of them).
At the end it’s the same, do you think he willl get 24 points lol ?
In terms of votes in ESC, yes, it’s the same. In terms of money got from Spotify/Youtube, etc. (even performances or gigs in Spain), it is not. I can perfectly see this as the Summer Song 2022 in Spain.
Jury won’t give it 12p ofc.
We thought France will give 12p to switzerland but in the end they didn’t LOL
Except that our jury (I’m from France) gave points to the harmless songs (Greece, Russia and Portugal) that were not the favorites. No points to Italy or Malta. 7 points to Switzerland that I feel were given as an excuse to say “see we do give points to another fav” because it would indeed seem even more suspicious given the French lyrics if they did not. Anyway, those jury votes were truly ridiculous to me and my friends here. So I wonder if Spanish jury will play dirty like this too and vote for non-favorites then maybe they could give… Read more »
i don’t think Romania is doing that great in Spanish televoting in recent years.
Why would the Spanish televote favor such a mediocre song, just for a few words in Spanish? There’s been many songs with Spanish elements to it recently (Fuego, Loco Loco, El Diablo, …) and it never worked. As said above, the only reason this could get televote points in Spain is the Romanians living there.
You are clearly non-Spanish, right? Words like Fuego, Loco, Hasta la vista, Señorita…. are soooo cliché. You harder hear Spanish people saying them. But hola, mi bebé, llámame is 100% real current Spanish. Plus the sound gets stuck in your head, it is perfect as a summer song.
“But hola, mi bebé, llámame is 100% real current Spanish”… I’m literally laughing right now, lol. It’s like saying “Words like “Good morning”, “Call me” and “My love” are so trendy in the English language right now. Real English speakers say them all the time, they love it! Put them in your song, and you’re sure to chart in America!”
Obviously again talking with no knowledge at all: in Spain we never said bebé meaning baby (in the sense of love) like in English. It’s become recently in fashion though because teenagers started using it a couple of years ago.
There’s literally Spaniards in this very comment section saying no one would ever vote for that just because of a couple words in Spanish (and indeed, no one would). So it’s your word against everyone else’s… 😉
But you know what, at the end of the day I do hope he gets some votes from Spaniards (and hopefully other countries too), cause he certainly won’t get them from juries.
I’m getting upvotes and you are getting downvotes, so it’s not only my opinion. Furthermore, you are just getting your information by the comments here. I’m in Spain and all my friends love the song. I do agree in the fact that this is a televote and not a jury song.
You’re getting votes cause you’re saying this song will get points, not because people in Spain agree with you (if you notice, all negative comments about this song are getting downvoted). How the hell would you even know who’s upvoting you and based on what lol? Also you are obviously not from Spain, your comments don’t make any sense.
I am from Seville, South Spain, birthplace of flamenco. I am as Spanish as it gets.
Do you know Aless Gibaja, for instance? If this is enough for you to prove my “Spanishness”…
The bebé song won….Yes…I got the Hola mi bebebebebebe…llamame llamame part stuck in my head. I dont matter if the lyrics is simple, sometimes simple is fun…and I can see myself dancing in my bathroom with this song…mi bebebebe…this is a guilty pleasure for sure not the song of Croatia…
