As a sweed I try to explain that Cornelia has a good chance to make it top five ESC and has a lot of fans outside Sweden. Well it is obvious that most Mellofans don’t care. “The winner should be the song we love. Regardless from what other think. “ I’m absolutely sure that Bagge winns the telewotes. If the juries give him low points, there will almost be riots. The swedes will vote fore him even more. Baggies song is typical what swedes love and for them is it melfest that is the most important. Well, sad. Because Cornelia… Read more »

Cornelia will win, its not a year for big bops and this style of song will probably be more appropriate to represent Sweden in May. Outstanding song I should say and the camera work is the icing on the cake. Top 3 for sure. I just hope they don’t choose Anders, his song is too cheesy for this years Eurovision. Anyone else no chance.

Just give the trophy to Cornelia. Hold me closer is an authentic entry and I predict if she wins, Sweden will open a new “eurovision era”. This song is what Sweden was lacking the last 10 years after Loreen’s Euphoria. Hold me closer is pure, not calculated or manufactured and Cornelia is a diamond that can shine through her song.
Sweden, don’t mess this up, I’m begging you!

Cornelia is my absolute favorite here. That being said, I would be fine with half of the songs really, just not as much as Hold me Closer.

I say watch out for Theoz: his performance could be a jury bait, and his popularity, at least in the youngest groups, can earn him some valuable votes. But, just a guess, let’s wait and see what this Mello will end up being!

I really hate when people in the discussion here writes… “We all know….”. There is no such thing that all agree on. Basic facts of life. Please express what you think and don’t assume that you know anything. It is however ok to discuss what you think that others will vote for. It’s all a guessing game. I hope for Medina (banger) or Cornelia (emotional impact).

I’ll address the obvious first: This poll isn’t close. Cornelia Jacobs should win this final, and I happen to agree with that result. Will Sweden agree? (Shrugs.) Now onto other observations… I just reviewed all of these songs at home, and indeed they all fill the “middle ground” very well. Andi’s point (below) about this final sounding so “Swedish” is I think picking up on how the songs have a popular-music based efficiency about them. All are excellently produced to appeal to as many listeners as possible. (That would seem to be the point of MelFest these days.) Interestingly, only… Read more »

The voting will be spread out this year. There is no Tusse to get all 12.
But I think there are only two songs with broad appeal among all groups and those are from Cornelia and Bagge. I do think these two songs will get points from all groups but not necesssarily the highest score from each group.
No one expect landslide win, we all say it will be very close. The ultimate winner will be whoever jury choose

Melodifestivalen 2022 might be one of the weakiest in terms of the quality of songs. Many people like “Hold me Closer” song as top favorite but I think the singer sings as if she has just woken up or she was drunk while singing :/ The song is also mediocre, you can hear similar songs everywhere, it doesnt give winner vibes for Eurovision. But it’s true that Eurovision 2022 would be full of ballad, slow songs based on the selected entries so far.

Every song sounds so Swedish… I guess I got tired of those typical Sweden songs over the years. At the beginning I was a big Mello fan. Today, I don’t even watch the semis. And I’m not excited about the final. Does anybody feel the same?

My winner is Cornelia’s “Hold me closer” but I really don’t care who wins.

I understand what Andi meant. Just compare “zitti e buoni” and “brividi”, or “Voilà” and “Fulenn”. The Italians and the French have surprised us with totally different songs this year. Now, look at Mello: themes and variations on the same thing. Note however that I super like Cornelia, Theoz and Medina, and that Melofestivalen 2022 is far greater than last year 🙂 But still, Sweden should try something different, something bold, something definitely new. And Medina for instance is a good starter for something new!

The point with Melodifestivalen is to sound Swedish. It is after all a festival of new Swedish music. It is not done for people in southern France. If you exclude rap, which is what current Swedish music sounds like, then this is what it sounds like. Swedes want pop, that is what makes our music. Yes we could have rap but not many rap artists want to compete in Melodifestivalen. For majority of Swedes ESC isn’t the main goal with Melodifestivalen, which perhaps is a mistake. Most won’t probably even watch ESC. But those who are fans agree something is… Read more »

Interesting point of view. As long as people get what they want, there is nothing wrong indeed… Too bad though for hardcore fans who feel something is broken. As a Frenchman, my top three includes two songs in Swedish. This is perhaps a starting point: try to be yourselves and not “international” in the eyes of the rest of the world 🙂

When we try to be ourselves we got Tusse:)
Anders Bagge is the result of being ourselves. If anything we should be more international in our voting since Europe decides our fate. If we are competing we should send something competetive, not something that passes people by. What’s the point competing if you end up last? Unfortunately Swedes dont think like this which is why the public hasnt liked us since 2016. So I agree we must send new but try to tell Swedes that…

We all know this is a weak year for Sweden but they still have some enjoyable songs.

I wouldn’t go for Ander Bagge though. The song is ok, average at best, the guy seems nice but it wouldn’t place better than a bottom 5. I mean, if sent by another country it could be a NQ. However, I don’t see Sweden not qualifying because they’ll do everything needed to go through. Instead they could better go for two sure qualifiers to choose from. See Cornelia or Liamoo.

So Anders is winning the televote but what the jury will vote for?

If Cornelia wins – thats ok but not the people’s choice. Perhaps better for the Eurovision. But there is a big problem. We can’t remember her song but most of us can sing Bagges song word for word. That is why he is going to win people’s televote but perhaps he is not the winner of melodifestivalen. So – we are happy with Cornelia as a winner but we are voting for Bagge.

My guess for the final is that juries’ top 3 is Cornelia, Liamoo and Klara in that order, with Anders and possibly Cazzi in top 5. For the televotes, I think Anders will win getting around 90-94 points, with Cornelia coming second within a 10-15-point margin (3rd and 4th will probably be Klara and Medina). So in the end, it definitely depends on the jury. However, if Anders place in the top3 in the jury I want to say that panel is rigged bc that song live is not worthy of that placing compared to the other songs (Anders can’t… Read more »
